Women in FPS

Now I'm not sexist, and while I tell my wife this every once in a while, I've never seen a great female gamer. I've met one recently that did the gender justice on a FFA server but thats about it.

Has anyone every seen a women that simply beat the sin out of everyone out there?

If not, why do you think you havent?

Well, we have a girl in our clan, and while she's not the best in the clan, she's not bad. She's gotten top score on Tequila.Shots (5v5 TDM passworded pub).

I don't think women like FPS... I know my wife hates video games.

We both like clubs...

But she skips my game play, and I skip her madona concert.

Only games she will play is worms

I just think that most women aren't attracted to these kinds of games. Women tend not to be interested in violence and such as that. So the reason why you don't see many great women players is not because they aren't capable, it's because there simply isn't many that play. The best girl player I have ever seen is in my Call of Duty clan. I'd say she's better than at least 90% of the people I've seen play that game. But I've never seen any great women players on UT.

For a really good gamer/developer look up 'Killcreek' on google. She used to beat the sin out of ppl in tournaments. She also posed in Playboy... hence the google search =)

I got my girl to play UT99/2k4 several times... I'm gonna keep making her play until she's good :D She can already own average bots ;) She's pretty cool with it, though. She actually told me she wanted to play without me saying anything.

Oh yes... A bit slutty looking, but worth a look nonetheless. When she goes to events though, she ALWAYS wears full leather and looks trashy as hell. It's not quite the image I had built up. hehe

Somehow that outfit doesn’t surprise me. I mean common any girl that plays video games has to be a bit whacked in the head anyways.

Then again most guys that play online video games are a bit on the loony side to.

Simple questions to find out if an internet girl is, in actuality, a girl:

- Are you a 12 year old boy?
- Are you a 35+ year old man?

Stick to these, and all will be well.

I think uNity just opened a whole new bag of worms, and on that note.

I honestly believe half these people who say they are female, are actually guys. They are either dirty old men, or teens being stupid, which brings me to another issue. Hearing kids over voip, I turned that off after one day.

my theory is:

girls can be good DM players...

i've seen some pretty good ones (have a few in my clan) but they all play tdm... and even the girl ctf players i've seen through the years that were decent tended to play dm while on a ctf map =P

and i would say that while SOME of the girls i've met thru online gaming are pretty down-to-earth and whatnot, the majority of them are, sadly, e-slut attention whores =\

sorry to say it, but most of the girls ive seen seem like they only play games cuz there's so many guys around to grab attention from...

that's "most" not all tho...

yea i ve seen some great female players : [c4«°jaded and f8«purfect

purfect once beat some utd players ( and they were top clan in clanbase EU ladder)

so sure girls can be lethal :)

I still think that it’s really all men claiming to be girls. Key is listen to them on TS. Either it’s Helga the horrible, or that’s a man.

Granted there are some women… but allot of it is just guys claiming to be girls for attention.

well unless i see a girl on webcam or hear them on TS, i usually just assume that they're really guys anyways...

but hell my clan alone has 3 girls in it (and i've talked to all of em on TS), so there are a decent amount of them out there...

from what i hear there's lots of female zark players too... dunno...

Here are the reasons girls aren't into games(these are general and do not apply to all girls, yadda yadda):
1.Many find gore "gross"
2.Girls aren't interested in IT
3.Most girls aren't as competitive in sports so why should they be in gaming?
4.Girls would rather do something more social
5.Girls see it as something that is for nerds

My girlfriend uses macs(grr!) so I recently bought her quake 3(her mac couldn't run UT2k4!) and I've been desperately trying to get her to play it.

I think real girls hide as well because they don't want all the attention. Guys practically hunt for girls online and then act like savages. That reminds me of way back when, when I first started playing online first-person shooters, I went by the name of Neptune for a while. People were always asking me if I was a girl. I'll never figure this out as Neptune was king of the sea in Roman mythology! I eventually changed my name because of this. :)

I'd say it's a simple matter of numbers - a group that has 5% of the players is probably going to have only 5% of the really great players.
