thats the offical list of guildwars websites. why isn't this site one of them? I only found this site by accident, and have been coming back because gameamp just seemed better than the others.
There are plenty of guides, number of knowledgable people to comment on things, and everything is easy to find. so why do these other fudgey sites get listed as "elite fansites" when this one isn't even listed?

Well, all I can say is go here and see which ones you think we don't do. I looked through them and it seems this may be better answered by an admin as I could not answer all the prerequisites. Some of that stuff is only known by the admins.

First thought that comes to mind is our cruddy advertisements. If those things ever get removed, then we might be able to become an official guild wars fansite.

Reason #2 to get new companies to advertise: So we can become an official fansite.
Reason #1 was just the utter disrespect for the game we all love.

A couple of things sprang to mind here. The first of which Neo kinda mentioned - adverts; but in particular adverts linking to sites where you can buy in game stuff/money..
From the GW Site linked above:
The Expectations
Members of the Guild Wars Community Fansite Program webmasters and all site staff members agree to the following:
To disallow and remove links or promotion of adult (pornographic) sites, sites that provide or support software hacking or piracy, sites that support, advertise or offer in-game items for real currency, and sites that encourage game cheating
Secondly, this bit:
Elite Guild Wars Fansite
An Elite Guild Wars Fansite agrees to:
Focus exclusively on Guild Wars and/or ArenaNet
Gameamp also covers other games which a'net might not like..
Dunno for sure but these are just a couple of things that came to me as I was reading the initial post.

Didn't know that. Must be the first one then, and Neo probably covered it better by his simple reference to the adverts, since I just noticed another ad/link which most games and forums wouldn't really be wanting to link to.. *coughs*
