Nerva Respec question

Been on this 2 times so far, 1st was with a full team of 8
and about 20K debt later we left.

Tonight was on a 4 man, and it flew very well, until the vines. 3 of us had counters, until we were defeated, then we lost them. The AV would 2 shot anyone in our team except myself(Thankyou Rooted) Just cannot seem to get this respec completed. Yes we would wipe out the CoT before attempting the vines, but it seems every time we would get to those in front of the AV, we hit the wall. 2 of us stayed after the others got fed up, and we discovered, using his robot powerhouse minion, he could take the vines no problem, its when the AV attacked with its Caltrop/poison attack it fell suprisingly fast!

Any suggestions? I'm sure I'm not the only one looking for some help here.

Re: Nerva Respec question

Hey Lord. First off, welcome to the site. We're glad to have you here.

Secondly, I've done the respec mission myself, and I must say, it is FRIGGIN HARD! I also had a full team originally, but the team dwindled down in the last mission as people dropped. We finally got to the vines, took all but one out, then BAM! The vines grew back and spanked us. We regrouped and took out the vines for good, then BAM! The AV smacked us good. Once again, the 4 of us that were left regrouped and tried again. We got the AV down to about 3/4 health when all the CoT respawned and mopped the floor with us. Its a hard trial. So far, nothing I've done has worked, but I'm sure there's a trick or a catch to it. We just need to find it. I'm as anxious to here success stories as you. ;)

Again, enjoy the site and I hope you stick around.

Re: Nerva Respec question

I did this respec earlier this week with a team of 4, 3 of us from the Inmates of Gameamp Asylum, and it took 3 tries to take the AV down. I don't think you need to kill every last vine, just most of them. The less vines, the less resistance to damage it has. Having at least 2 MMs helped a lot, because u can stay out of reach of the vines and the AV.

It seems the best way to do it is to kill all CoT, then quickly work your way around the room starting on the left side of the AV out its attack range. Try to concentrate your attacks on the same vines, they go down quicker. When your make it back around to the AV immediately have the Henchmen start wacking away at the AV. If your henchmen are ranged,ie..bots and mercs, make sure they are set back from the AV or they will use lower DAM melee attacks. Continue to kill the vines in the immediate area and then have a stalker one-shot the vines that start to sprout up.

This is a hard respec to complete, but stay strong and you will make it thru!

Good Luck

Re: Nerva Respec question

Did this with a few people myself, wasn't hard at all for me and actually went smooth. Took about an hour. We defeated all CoT in a clockwise fasion then proceeded to kill all the 96 vines while a brute and corruptor payed attention to the AV, the vine counter was still bugged so we didn't know when to hit the AV but looked around and all vines were gone, after that took about 30 seconds to take down the AV.

Mainly the team consisted of 3 brutes / 3 corruptors / 2 MM's.

Re: Nerva Respec question

I'm seriously thinking I was just on the wrong team then. We had 1 brute, 3 stalkers, 2 MMs and 2 corrupters and could not get it done. Everything went like clockwork up until the time we hit the AV. We got it down to maybe 1/8 health and then....BOOM, people were going down left and right. To my surprise, the thorns respawned and so did the CoT (i did not know this would happen and no one forwarned us of this either). Maybe the key is taking the AV down as quick as possible, because this is the point where people started dropping and becoming impatient and more debt incurred.

For the successful people, did the vines and CoT respawn before you defeated the AV? and if so, what did u do to overcome the respawns?

Re: Nerva Respec question

Well, got this froma GM on the response to my petition about the counter vanishing after you are defeated.

" Response (GM El Hefe) 12/02/2005 10:57 AM
Hello,

Thank you for contacting the PlayNC Support team. The Arch-Villain Nexus of Thorns only becomes vulnerable to attack after the vine kill count reaches zero. At this point the kill counter intentionally vanishes. The Arch-Villain can now be attacked; however, please note new vines may spawn after this point. Vines spawned after the kill counter has vanished will not impact your ability to strike the Nexus of Thorns.

Take care,"

Think he was a bit confused there(blink blink) but gave a little hint.

I guess after all the vines are down, its time to throw everything you got at the AV, ignore the vines that respawn.

I agree, MM have to keep their minions at range and strike from afar. Being a SM Brute, I've one ranged attack with a boulder, so the group needs good ranged attacks. The vines dont hit you too hard, its the AV Caltrop/poison attack that kills you quick, well that and its vine hold.

Yes, the vines will respawn, and you will be ambushed by additional CoT. If I remember right, this is the way we did it. 1) Killed all of the CoT in the room, 2) Killed all of the vines, 3) Attacked the Thorn Tree, 4) Broke off to kill the ambushing CoT, 5) Split up with the MM's continuing to attack the Thorn Tree while I (Stalker) and a Corruptor attacked the respawning vines.
