Looking to Start Playing EQ2

Hello everyone! I am looking to start playing EQ2 and I was wondering what character race is preferred. I am looking for a race that is well balanced, as I am not sure what path I would like to pursue at this time. I do not want my character selection to limit my options. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help!

Re: Looking to Start Playing EQ2

Hey Justin, Weclome to EQ2Gameamp.

I guess before I can really attempt to answer your question, I would need to know what would your play style may be.

Do you like to Solo(handle adeventures and quest alone)?

Do you like to primarily group with others?

This of course does not mean that one class is better than another. Every class has its strong and weak points. I feel the game is rich with diversity.

The time I have spent in Norrath I have come to the conclusion(as well have many I run with) that you need to play the class or race that sounds more interesting to you.

Everquest is like a Fantasy Novel that you place yourself in. So if you had the opportunity to write yourself into this novel, what would you like to be?

I think this is the best approach to EQII.

Every class has its place, some can solo better than others and some may seem to be prime candidate for every group.

Whatever you choose, you will have enough adventure to keep you at the edge of your seat for a long time.

Hope I answered your question a little anyway.

Anything else I can help with, or attempt to..let me know.

I am not an expert in anything except having fun...oh and twinkies..I am an expert with twinkies...boiled..fried...roasted or raw.

Re: Looking to Start Playing EQ2

Hello Justin, let me welcome you to the world of EQ2. After speaking with some of the leadership of D2A, I'm kind of leading the D2A division of EQ2. We are on the Befallen server, our guild name is Imperium.

If you're interested, give me a tell in game. My character name is Anarissa. As for character types and races, as Artagus says, it's all to your tastes.

I personally play a Barbarian Paladin. We have most of the races in guild, so I'm sure if you choose to come and join us, we could help a little more.

As always, enjoy the game, and have fun. Hope to see you in game.

RE: Looking to Start Playing EQ2

I hear a lot of folks in the live game chats saying that Necromancer is the best solo / starter class but I think if you are a new player to EQ2 Paladin is a very forgiving class to play as you have a good deal of survivability granted by Heavy Armor and some basic heals. Another tip I would give is to not overlook crafting. I see lots of new players that choose to overlook crafting. The easiest and most utilitarian crafting route to pursue would be Provisioning.
