Thanks for that info, I had thought the seekers were from the drones because there are always 3 of them.

I love it, when the bots get cranked up it's like a 4th of July fireworks display.

My question is this... do you need to equip your bot each time it is summoned or will it always be summoned with it's original upgrade? As always... thank you in advance. Oh, and yes, I finally gave in to the evil...

Every time you summon your bots, your have to go thru the whole process again! The Upgrade Bot has a long recharge too, might want to slot it with some rech reduct.

RE: Robotics - Equip Robot & Upgrade Robot

Holy crap...I just got Upgrade Robot today, and OH MY GOD! My bots are UNSTOPPABLE! Even on the next to most difficult setting, I'm ripping though missions. I start my mission once 1 of each type of bot is upgraded, then upgrade the rest within a few minutes (since the power takes almost a full minute to recharge). Once all the bots are upgraded, its like watching a Star Wars movie! Laser blasts flying around, missiles launched left and right, explosions, little robots in the air circling...ABSOLUTE INSANITY!!! And I'm loving it!!!

RE: Robotics - Equip Robot & Upgrade Robot

I agree, it is an awsome and daunting vision of meyhem and destruction, if you slot your bots well there is very little you cannot destroy.

I Slotted "UPGRADE" with 3 Reduce Recharge Time SOs and it still takes something like 30 seconds or so to recharge.

Here is the method I use for using "UPGRADE" while on a team...

First... Call out all your Bots.

Second... Use "EQUIP" on all bots, then "UPGRADE" Assault Bot first, as you move along upgrade Protector Bot then Drone Then Protector Bot then Drone and finally your last Drone...

This works well however depending on your playstyle and team makeup (other MMs on team) almost anything goes, but in every case Assault Bot should get first "UPGRADE."

Do the protector bots with Upgrade also repair? that has saved me many times in my missions. I cannot wait to get to 32 now

First off, welcome to the site!

Second, I believe the Protector Bots heal the other bots right out of the box, no upgrade/update needed.

RE: Robotics - Equip Robot & Upgrade Robot

for the protector bots to heal they need to have the low level equip on them from what i've seen

Until i got that skill and used it they never bothered, now they do it quite regularly (althogh it would appear the recharge on it is horredous for the protectors)

Shame you can't put slots on the bots really - as in on each bot...

But, they are still killing machines, 6 man team without even looking at a team window, can't complain at that :D

RE: Robotics - Equip Robot & Upgrade Robot

OK, level 40 now for the last ten days or so, so nothing to really do but make infamy running newspaper mish's. After reading the latest additions to this thread thought I would take the time & make some observations so I got out my stopwatch & recorded my preperation time to get my bots into combat mode.

The equip robot toggle is no problem, the main limiting factor in getting set up is the weapons upgrade. I have mine slotted with 4 S.O. recharge reductions and it takes 33 seconds to recharge. I spent the morning doing every combination I could think of and the end result was always the same. From the time I summond the 1st bot till I hit the last bot with the weapons upgrade, (in the words of the immortal C.W. McCall), "if the fish don't bite & the almanacs right & the groundhog see's his shadow".... it takes just a little over 3 min.

It really doesn't matter what protocall you use when summoning & doing the upgrades, it works out to about the same amount of time. All I can say is whatever way you can prep them that is comfy for you & you don't forget any of them in the process will suffice.

I can & have gotten them into action in a little over 2 min. but that leaves me with 2 of the battle droids to worry about upgradeing during fighting. I much prefer to have them all up to snuff before engageing.

My own protocal for smooth preping is as follows:

Upon entry, MOVE AWAY FROM THE DOOR. There is nothing more frustrating than being almost done with your prep work & targeting your next droid for upgrade & accidentaly triggering the door & exiting, thus killing your bots & haveing to start all over. Pick a good roomy area for stageing and begin your "whatever turns you on" protocal.

The only exception I have to this is when robbing banks. When I enter a bank or Casino I imediatly call ALL my bots into the lobby 1st. then move away from the door & start upgradeing. I am almost always ambushed by one or two guards shortly after entering the building & it's nice to have as much firepower as possible at this vulnerable time.

When teaming I announce to the team when I enter the building that it will take me three minutes to wake my guys up & get em shaved & dressed & ready for action. I also try to keep them updated on my progress. That way if they want to go ahead & start they will have some idea when support will arrive. Like I mentioned before, I CAN opt. to run them on into the fight & worry about the upgrades dureing combat, but I try not to do that, I like my bots going into a fight to be all that they can be, and myself being able to concentrate on the fight without haveing to worry about who's not operating up to par.

So thats the crux of it, 3 min. prep time, wish the devs would cut that weapons upgrade back to about a 20 second recharge, that would shave the prep time down to about two minutes, it seems like an eternity waiting on that to come back up.

RE: Robotics - Equip Robot & Upgrade Robot

I use Mercs, but the timing is essentially the same.

1. Summon all Mercs.
2. Tactical upgrade on the Commando (highest level merc).
3. Toss 4 of the boys their Snickers Bars (Equip Merc).
4. After 4 of the Snickers Bars, the Tactical Upgrade is usually ready. I'll Tactical Upgrade one of the Spec Ops guys (midlevel merc).
5. Toss out the last 2 snickers bars.
6. Wait on the Tactical Upgrade for my second Spec Ops guy. Now all of my higher level mercs are upgraded.

At this point, I'll head into my mission and start busting heads. When the upgrade recharges, I'll launch it on my Medic first, for the Mez protection. Then I'll hit the other two Soldiers for the Full Auto.

Oh, sorry, this is with 3 Recharge SOs in Tactical Upgrade and 1 Recharge SO in Equip Merc.

Does anyone know any macro or binds that would help automate the setup process? Or even a macro that would allow a one click wonder that would cast both shields on a target. Also it would be cool if someone posted other macros/binds that help the mm.

Unfortuanetly you can't stack 2 power activations in a Macro or Bind. So you're kinda stuck doing it manually.

RE: Robotics - Equip Robot & Upgrade Robot

You must both Upgrade and Equip your bots to get all powers.

Agree with all of the above, Bots are almost unstoppable .. until you meet Freakshow or a Longbow Ballista, their energy attack shred me. Maybe just me :)

No, not just you. I have no luck against the Ballista and anything dealing lots of DoT fire (damn Scrapyarders). I'm okay against the Freakshow though.

RE: Robotics - Equip Robot & Upgrade Robot

i have to recomend Teleport foe for all those bot lovers out there. A single foe teleported directly in front of your army of bots usually gets off no more than one, maybe two shots before he is utterly destroyed. Going up against Freakshow or scrapyarders I toss a nice little insulation shield around them and they survive pretty well.

Problem with TP Foe is it doesnt work on boss's, plus you risk agging the rest of the mob. If you do pull it off then ya its a great thing just to me seems a tad risky as far as pulls go. Have you slotted acc's on it and if so how well did it help?

I agree freekshow arent much of a challenge against my bots. The biggest threat is sappers, but I think that holds true for most anyone lol.

As for upgrading and equiping your pets here is a little trick I use not sure if its a bug or not but it works. When doing it upgrade the pet first then while its still upgrading click on equip... Seems to save on animation time and if your teaming trust me your teammates will be appreciative LOL.

Oh and sry bout the quote qoute :-D

Well any way you look at it, any type of pull can agro. And not being able to teleport the bosses is a small price to pay for such a great power. Also, if you pull a boss in any way, you'll most likely get the whole mob around him to attack, when you can simply just pick away at the minions around him.

I slotted mine with 2 range (so I can teleport them from far away), 2 acc (just 2 acc on it makes it hard to miss), and 1 recharge (so it's up quickly so I can keep the baddies coming).

Nothing wrong with TP foe, just takes a little practice & most of the time you can surgicly reduce a mob in relative safety. Pick off the walkers first, then anyone who is wearing off-colored clothing. Even if you agro the entire mob, well, the one you got will be history before the rest of the mob engages........ and then there is the option of running away.........

I have a 35 Bots/FF and I just charge in and take em all at once. Charging in makes good use of the Robots AoE damage attacks.

(Relentless is cake with bots, yes even against EB/AV/Hero)

Fully tanked up bot army.
Freakshow = dead
Most other stuff = dead
TP foe + trip mine = pain and hilarity
TP foe + trip mine + telephone box in PVP zone = ouch
Bot army - MM leader = dead army
Door way + bot army x (acid mortar + caltrops) = Sweet devastation

;) Robots ftw

RE: Robotics - Equip Robot & Upgrade Robot

BIG ADDITION!

There is a very neat trick that you can use to cut setup time for robots massively.
It runs thus;

1. Set up all robots
2. Use upgrade on your Assault bot
3. While the animation JUST starts, e.g. the claw grabs him, hit equip robot. The sound should be slightly different.
4. When Finished, the bot will have both Upgrade and Equip. You can tell its worked cos the back lights are on as well as the missile pack and eyes.
5. Repeat this with your other minions.

I did test this a coupla times, and it works for me. Its useful to test it on a drone to getr the hang of it, as you can easily tell if you only pulled off Upgrade, because the back lights wont be on.

Cuts set up time in half, at least =]
If it doesnt work for you...bad luck mate ;)
