RAM updating

I know this is irrelevent to CoV/CoH but it is decreasing their performance.Anyone know where to see how many RAM cards your computer is (Mine is a Dell) and where to buy them?It is getting so that i am completely dependable on other people for travel which really gets annoying and i cant even do outdoor missions or hunt. Please help if you know anything about it.

If you are on XP you can go to start-settings-control panel-performance and maintenance-see basic info and it will tell you the amount of RAM in megabytes. This should show as well if you power up your computer, and generally will give you the type of RAM. As far as what you need if you have your user manual from Dell it should tell you the type in there i.e. pc 2800 or whatever. Otherwise you can get the same info from Dell's website as long as you know what model number you have. I'd also open up the case and see how many slots you have left open, so you dont over buy or at least know how many sticks you can fit in there. The easiest place to buy it would be through Dell as they will probably send you the same type as you had before. otherwise a place like Best Buy would even install and make sure you have the proper type if you are willing to fork out the dough. If you are feeling braver and have the type of RAM you need ordering through places Like www.newegg.com or www.pricewatch.com can find you some better deals. Just remember you pay for what you get with ram, and although uber top of the line isn't necessary, you are more likely to get a flawed piece or have it go bad on you if you go the low end route. Kingston and Corsair are generally pretty good. hope that helps a little.

Re: RAM updating

You can usually find out the specifications of the RAM on the manufacturer's website. Get me the Model number and Service Tag number of your PC and I'll see what I can find. If it's a Dell, I should be able to find it in no time. (That's one of the PCs I'm certified on for warranty work)

Annoying little tests online that mean nothing to me since I'm a bartender now. :) (Certified to do that too...)

Lol well optiplex at least sounds fun! "What are you doing tonight Ron?" "Well I'm going to make a martini and test the latitude of my mobile server's optiplex because the printer is just printing swear words."

At least I know who to go to for fixing my Dell if I ever get too lazy to build my own computer.

Re: RAM updating

From the Start menu, go to Control Panel and click on System. Near the bottom right hand corner will be your system specifications in terms of processor type and speed, and RAM amount. As far as how much RAM your system is capable of, I think you'd have to go to the Dell support website, enter your model and/or service tag number (found on a sticker on the side or back of your tower) and this should help you find out.

Re: RAM updating

once you find out what to get you have to decide how much, so for the record I have 1 gig and have very few lag problems and almost none since the first 2 weeks of COV's release so I think that would be a good number if you can afford it.

Sup dredd. . . try this site.

Crucial Scanner

Memory Advisor

Th site should work for you. If it is a dell you probabaly have two more slots open for ram. . .if you have an older DELL that has RAMBUS RAM then there r just terminators in the spots where you would put the real memory. . . .

cool I'd always been using Belarc Advisor for things like that but Everest looks like it would give a lot more info.
