Another New to game post but different a little

ok well i am a MMO game player for a few years it started with EQOA for ps2, and got a couple chars maxed my time there, then it was FFXI which was very short lived. then i later went to WOW, now I have always liked the everquest world of norrath and i was wondering if anyone has played both eq2 and wow and which they like better, and pros and cons of both, i want to get eq2 but i dont want to spend the money if im going to just uninstall the game after my 1 month free trial ends. thanks for the help. bye

Hey Zig, Welcome to EQ2Gameamp...

Hmmmm, tuff question there, let me think about it.....
EQII ALL THE WAY.....:)

Seriously, It's hard for me to make a suggestion without being bias.

I have looked at WoW, followed the forums and I think its a fine game. There is a Gameamp site for WoW here.
just in case you want to visit there.

For me, the rich story line, the quests and the beauty(great graphic detail) of Norrath holds me captive. I have played in beta and beyond and have never been bored or tired. I can log on, grab a Quest that reads like a fantasy novel and adventure on, or grab some friends and spend 3 hours of intense action. I am very satisfied with EQII.

There is really only one way to get a feel of the game, and that is a free trial. The only thing you are out, is the time to uninstall. There are some great folks who play the game and help is a /tell away.

Any other questions please feel free to ask, We will do what we can to help.

thats good its just that i dont want to be the new guy again and have to meet all new people that is probably the worst part of starting a new mmo, considering the fact that my warrior on WOW is very well known on the server, hated and loved alike. just wondering how the people on eq2 take to the lowbies of the game.

New people to the game, at least on the Oasis Server, are treated with the same respect as anyone else in the game with questions, new or veteran player.

You will find (auto chat channels) that change as you level(channel = your level). These channels are always helpful with content from other people.

Of course there is always the adolescent mentality that plagues every game, few but still present.

Starting a new game is always awkward, especially if you were "King Kong" in a previous game.

Lots of good people in this game willing to help even the most frustrating of NoObs :)

It's all good :)

RE: Another New to game post but different a little

so in other words should i try out oasis server?

also on eq 2 everytime you level do you get stat points that you can choose which spot they go in like str, sta, dex, agi and stuff like that? thats one thing about wow that i didnt like on how all classes without armor were pretts much the same. and i was looking to do a war type char and a ranger. what are the pros and cons of each and what race would you pick for them. thanks

ps if this reply is good i very well might buy it after i get out of work today

1 more thing, what classes are good at solo'ing and all that. or can anyone solo decently. that was a big plus about wow was the ability to solo when you wanted. and in groups ius the xp split or you get full xp?

RE: Another New to game post but different a little

I only used the Oasis Server as reference(Server I play on), its the one I know the best :)

If you do find yourself on the Oasis Server, let me know and I/we will help you where we can.

Your starting Stats depends upon your race, example-Erudite has high intel, low str. Your Stats seem to grow as you level but not enough to say 1 stat per level.

At lev 17 you may have 25 base str, and at lev 40 have 27 base str. It's factor'd in, just not sure of how its calculated. The adjustments in Stats will come with your gear and certain Racial Traits that are awarded at certain levels. With these you can slightly adjust your stats by choosing to go with x points for agility or x points for wisdom.

Four clases start the game, Fighter, Scout, Mage, Priest. Each starting class then branches off to another choice profession(Lev 10), and at level 20 it branches again for another choice.

Look here to get an idea Professions

Race is non-important when choosing a class, play the race that is more appealing to you.

Some classes seem to be better at the Solo adventure than others, none are masters, there is always down time.

Can't really comment on the Warrior/Ranger class's because I have not played either one long enough to have a solid opinion.

I have 2 Fighters, one that has advanced to a Guardian, the other is only a Brawler so far. I like them both. The Guardian for his pure tanking abilities and the Brawler for the damage.

My Main is a caster class so I needed to feel a little "One on One", melee action once in awhile.

Hope this helps a little to give you an idea. Like I said in my other post, the best way is to jump in and see how it feels.

:)
