I can't believe it! A guildy helped me get to the war camp today and when I got there the load screen froze up and now every single time I try to get on that character(which is my best character) the game shuts off while it's loading. I don't know what to do and I'm really depressed so can someone plz help me out and give me some suggestions on making the dang thing work?! I don't think you want to be the reason for my suicide do u?! (jk)
+credit to anyone who helps!
Thanx

K let me start off by saying its just a game, and I dotn think it is a good enough reason to kill yourself. And is that the only character it happens to? It might just be ur computer, do u have a good one? If thats not it then maybe someone hacked ur computer, although I cant imagine anyone would want to do that over someones char, beyond that it just might be a glitch, give it some time hopefully it will go away.
Sorry I couldnt be of much help, but I hope the problem goes away.

I've had this problem before, and it was solved by resetting my computer.
You did try restarting you're pc I hope!?
If it doesn't help, the drastic final resort is re-installing gw... You might have had a buggy load (like those white boxes people tend to see instead of people o.O) and need to reload a part of the game.

I've had this problem before!!
This is how I solved it :
1) Close all programs and try to start GW again
2) (If 1 doesn't work) Reboot your pc and try again
3) Run a security sweep on your pc
4) reinstall Guild Wars, Your account information is registered online, so u wont lose anything

OK, thanx both of you for ur help. +10 credit to u both. And I was jk about killing myself, as u might have seen in parentheses. Also, yes I have tried restarting my computer and that didn't help any, but I will try again. I have run both my anti-virus and spyware programs and nothing turned up, so, I may have to re-download guild wars like you suggested, :-( *sigh*. But ,like you said, it's just a game so i'll get over it eventually.
Thanx

Is there ANYTHING you have done to your computer recently?
By that I mean new program installs, updating drivers, adding hardware components both internal and external. Have you changed anything in your OS like a new windows update? Even adding memory.
Rarely things happen on a computer when something was going smoothly before then suddenly goes to the ditch without some kind of change. Those can be un-significant looking and can be easily overlooked. There are times when getting to a certain point into a game may cause new instructions to be called forth which weren't before. That is quite unlikely, however.
If you cannot pinpoint any changes in your configuration or any new program installations lately, I would then advise you to re-install GW since this operation is done painlessly. Should the problem persists, post back in this thread and I, along with other members on this community, I am sure, will be pleased to help you troubleshoot what the problem might be.
Good luck to you :)

To fix this problem, you must pray to the 1337 God of PCs and sacrifice 2 Mac users to the God Microsoft. However, they will reply to you that the problem is on your end and that they can't help you. This is what we get for making all the games for PC.

Try it the character on another computer. If it still doesn't work, than I cn't help. But if it does work, you need a new computer, or at least you need to scan your computer.

I so doubt he needs a new computer just because he has a bug.
Bug's or temporary by nature, and he'll probably find the solution soon enough. Hell, chances are he'll try and log in, and for no apparent reason it'll work again :P

Thanx guys for all of your suggestions, but I have tried those steps 1-4 to no avail. In fact, I just got back on from re-downloading guild wars and still, every time, right before the war camp loads, the whole game closes. I just don't know what to do. I really hope I don't lose my best character :-( Credit for everyone!
Thanx

LordVox, I would be even more pleased if you guys would do that for me :-). Oh, and another thing, I don't have but 1 computer at home so I would not be able to see if it was my computer.

Maybe it has nothing to do with your disc install or hardware. Maybe it happened with the SF update, kind of like your comp didn't get the whole update(i.e. part of it was lost on its way to your comp) so it says you can go there but you really can't since your copy of the game is only partially updated. Heck, I don't even know if this can even happen, but its just my idea.

If all-else fails, fear not, I'm sure you can contact a GM and have them move your character to another zone. I'm almost certain that that would fix it. If nothing else, a GM might know what's the real problem and how to fix it, if it is fixable.

This stuff up sometimes happens when downloading add-ons to an area at the same time as downloading something else.
or,,
if your firewall blocks at just the right moment
if your virus scanner starts updating
and so on
so,,
Have updates for scanners n such set to manual (and remember to still do them) so they dont stuff this up. Also when getting GW updates dont go surfing while you wait unless you have a dartn good conection speed :)
Hope this helps in stopping the next stuff up

I got an Idea.
If you have a friend with Guildwars, or a computer you can laod it on. Try logging onto your account from there and taking your charecter to another town. perhaps you will jjust have to avoid that area of the game forever.

GM = Game Moderator. They can fix stuff in-game when it goes awry. With some MMORPGs they can actually be found in-game with characters that look unique to stand out from players so every one will know they are a GM. However, I'm not sure that GW has GMs actually go into the game. They seem to just keep tabs on it like admins.

i know this is drastic but have you tried reporting the bug on the guildwars website?
i have spoken to them twice about things going wrong with my guildwars and they normally send a reply within one day.
they will have seen this problem before maybee and will have a practical reason for why its not workign and maybee the right way to fix it. if they cant help you then suicide is probably the way to go. as frank zappa once said do it right the first time. jk dont kill yourself if you cant get your charicter back for what ever reason make a new one ive made umm 7 now that made it to lvl 20 and each one seems better than the last.

best thing to do before doing anything drastic is go to the GW
contact site. Here is the link http://www.guildwars.com/contact.html Hopefully they can help.
Also please let us know what happens, just incase it happens to us.

Jamnog, I understand what you're saying, but is that not the same thing as when something goes wrong and the error report window pops up by itself? I htink it may be but I'll try on the website anyway. +10 credit

All that the people told me was my computer didn't meet the system requirements to play guildwars.(my video card) Has anyone else not changed their video card and been to the war camp? I have a an Intel 8280, which is the one that came with my computer. I am going to get a better video card, but I would just like to know if that's even the problem.
Thanx

It could be your card.
Deldrimor's War Caomp has been a part of the Sorrow's Furnace addition and therefore it might be quite possible that this part of the game calls out functions out of your grfx card that were not used (or used as extensively) in the rest of the game.
Actually if you can play GW just fine in all original areas except for the war camp, it would make sense.

If you have another charcter you could use the ingame bug reporting emote./bug (type your problem here) without the ( )

Definently agree with vox on this. Could be that Sorrows Furnace uses a different type of lighting or shading that your video card can't use. Have you tried updating your videocard drivers? And If if got screwed up while loading sorrows furnace If it was me I would reinstall because you may have a corrupted map file for the Grenths Footprint area that gives GW an error when it tries to load it.

This may work..go into the options menu of the game before you put in your password ( bottom right hand corner). put all graphics to low and change the display to somethin low like 1024-768 or 800-600 may not look as good but it won't work your video card as much. Also change graphics to performance not quality in the options menu.
just a thought, hope it works out for ya

Perhaps you could get a friend that has a newer video card to test his video card in your computer when loading the charcter that is giving you the error. Although there are reports with some nvidia drivers being buggy with the 6600gt and newer cards.

It might be your Gfx card after all. trust me on this one. I play GW on a GeForce2 64MB RAM and i still have problems once in a while.
But it doesn't hurt to re-boot your PC once in while and do regular Virus and Spyware scans on your computer.
You might wanna check the Intel website for Updates for youir graphics card also.

If you have already reinstalled gw and downloaded the updates.. try updating or reinstalling video card drivers as I mentioned above and check to make sure you have a newer version of direct x not sure if GW is fully compatible with older ones. A friend of mine was running GW using a fx 5700 ultra I wouldnt recomend ne fx card older than this...as they have issues with underperforming. You can find some videocards in the $50-$70 price range that will run guild wars although probably at low graphic settings.
