1st patch of SoG

well may not be able to play again (
started SoG launcher the moment severs were up to find a sweet 1.3gig patch to download....and a slow one to boot
it has been 8 hrs and i have 1.1 gig left to download

I have the patch downloaded but I get a Runtime Error when the game loads.

Can't find any info from the DnL site since it's getting bombarded or it truely is under construction. Anyone know what's up?

Don't think I'll be playing tonight.

Another announcement from our trusty friend IRC:

Due to some data synchronization delays, we have to defer the SoG launch to 2:00 PM (UTC). that's the news
Pioneers will be able to play in 3 hours and 10 mins.

I looked in the DnL log file, under ../SOG/Log, and found that the error occurs when the Game Manager tries to initialize.

Btw, the Game and Download Servers are up.

Hi Camper, same problem here. runtime error on Sog/DnLg.exe
I tried all flavours of engines but no luck.

Finally got into the DnL website and what was suggested, that worked for me, is to delete the Dnl.ini in the SOG dir. Then run the launcher again.

I was able to get closer into the game but now get a 'Login Custom Defined Error'. Lots of people having login name problems. I haven't seen a solution yet.

nice stuff we got here lol
after 2 yrs my wife lost all interest in playing
i guess with all the delays and stuff i remember when they said they were going to full release in Nov. 2004 lol
World of Warcraft was the only one released well that month/year then they gave a release date of 11/05/05 and noone knew if this was april of november lol and don;t think DnL stated what the real one was till after april everyone figured it out lol
so, Mov. 5 we wait what push again (not suprised at this point) and then thay say Sog will release beginning of Nov.
and we hear nothing till the 5th and DnL tells us oh btw we will not release SoG on the 5th ...........(let alone the month they said) so Dec 8 we are told, and again a lie .....
so now we wait for 12th for us pre-ordering fools lol or will it be ? not looking good :(

sorry for my rant.
I think full release m-a-y happen in 2006 i don't think it will be april since they can't keep a date if they tried

well no worries for me to rush my crappy download still got about a gig to go i checked everyting on my end and tested speed and all. shutdown firewall and seems best i get is 8kb/sec.

Camper's advice was indeed working. I got music, and I got further. But stumbled with a login server error.

Keep the advice coming! It is hightly appreciated.

Ok, I saw the notice now. 8am UTC = 2am CST = 12am PST

Well, no DnL tonight. But tomorrow morning at 8am I'll try to sneak in before I have to go to work.

There's a post that the Game Server is being brought down until 8am to work on issues. Of course, 8am doesn't mean that much, so we'll have to keep checking.

I managed to fix the "runtime" error by deleteing the DnL.ini file as suggested.

However, When I log into the game now I get message that says the "maximum number of connections has been reached!"

Don't tell me they gave away 10,000 free accounts and made some of us (like me) buy one of 8881 pinoeer accounts knowing we wouldn't all be able to play at the same time, did they?

I was getting that too. Keep trying and you'll eventually get in. I think it's because so many are entering at the same point in the map.

Hit L and put one point in mount ability. That'll put the summon pet spell in your hot bar. Target yourself 'F1' and summon the pet. Either rclick or doubleclick your pet to mount. To fly press '0' on number keypad and use 'S' to go up and 'W' to go down.

Has is collapsed already? I get once again the LOGIN CUSTOM DEFINED ERROR. And the SOG/dnl.log shows I started the game loop, but nothing more.

dark and light would be nuts if they waited to release in april 2006..thats suicide being that another very big game gets released in june and the beta for another big game opens in april..if they keep putting this off everyone will get bored and something else will grab their attention..my apologies also go out to those of you having problems getting in the game

please dont beat me with the nerf bat..soe did it enough

Phew thanks been searching for an awnser to that problem for ages hehe. trouble is now its telling me game server is down but i still have green arrows on the launcher. can anyone tell me if thats right?

I was getting the same message about the server being down a few hours ago. I'm about to try again. I'll post if I didn't get in.

Edit: Yeah, same server down message. Can anyone get in right now?

By the way, what other big MMORPG is coming out in June?

DDO=Dungeons and dragons online is said to be out in june but there is talk of it coming out earlier..and so far from what ive seen in the stress test this game is awesome..as far as the beta that opens up in april..conan beta signups begin then and after reeading the news and faq on this game will blow every other game out of the water if you like the barbarian type stuff..this game will have actual decapitaions..real blood splatter..and after the firdt month it opens newsletters will be sent out to all parents that from that point on it is a play at your own risk deal since they plan to bring in nudity as well..this game also carries a smart ai..your toon will get hungry and need to eat and so on...also the character creation you can have scars..tats..piercings and such to make your character more unique..if anyone is interested i will post the link to it but i really hope that dark and light pulls it together and gets out there among the competetion and does well since i am still looking forward to playing this game

man i'm on a 2 days DL of the patch i can't seem to get more than 8kb/sec anyone have a suggestion to speed it up plz let me know i tested my speed with DDO client on fileplanet.com and i was DLing at 500kb/sec

Hey, first off, camper's post on deleting the DnL.ini worked for me... thanks camper.

I also got the Login Custom Defined Error... so I tried logging in again, and I got a Sorry message that the server was down. Even though the launcher says it is up.

I am trying again... hope they figure something out sometime soon...

Yay @ DnL server management

Im experiencing the same Corlin, First got the Login error and now the Server is down (again?)

But like i said ill make a post if im able to get in, which probably isnt going to happen :/
