Gameplay, graphics, costumes CoH v. CoV

I've heard that CoV has many things CoH didn't, but I didn't know if they introduced the upgrades in I6 to keep them on par with each other. Here are some.

Better graphics on powers
Ragdoll physics
Upgrades to character creation

Better graphics (not only on powers) and ragdoll physics are both in COH and COV. And they are both very nice.

COH has no new costume pieces with I6, but it get the handy "pulldown/see all" feature that COV got too. But with I4 or I5 (can't remember) more jackets and skirts were added to COH.

But COV has a bunch more costume options, as well as lots of evil options, and a huge list of new capes.

Hey, first off, welcome to the site. I see you're relatively new and I'd like to welcome (or "un-welcome" as villains do) you to the boards.

CoV has some better graphics, yes. Mostly because the game was designed after CoH and as we all know, graphics get better every day. But I like the power animations a lot better in CoV. Power of the Phoenix (formerly Rise of the Phoenix) has THE coolest animation in the entire game! I also like the graphics on the Fire/Plasma Shields. And the Energy Blast set has different color bubbles swirling around instead of bright blue light.

As Phedre said, both games have Ragdoll Physics, however CoH didn't have them until CoV came out and I6 hit. I still don't know why some people don't like Ragdoll. Personally, I find myself trying to Web Grenade an enemy on top of a rail or on the edge of a ledge or building just so they'll ragdoll over and go "SQUISH!" :P

CoV has all the character creation elements of CoH...and then some. Anything your hero can wear, my villain can wear better. Hehe. Personally I'd find it more interested if they left certain items available only to heroes, as they do with the new villain stuff.

:) It's true. But when all is said and done, I'm still quite the newb considering that by the time I'd written those guides, I had only played a little over one month (and I haven't played since)!

I guess I catch on fast... or it might be because I played 4 to 8 hours every day that month. Anyway, I've been planning my return for almost a 3 weeks now; reading forums, posting questions, but now I'm thinking of trying CoV too. So far it seems like they've made a lot of game improvements since I4.

I totally agree with the friends list thing. I only get to play on fri and sat nights and can't tell you how many times I have logged on after a week and said "who in the hell is that?" I eventually quit using it.
