OK, I have not done this yet myself, but here is what I heard regarding the holiday event...
Theres an Arachnos contact in Sharkhead right by the ferry. He will send you on a glowie hunt mission to steal 4 christmas presents. On completion, you will get a badge (Scrooge I think), a free tailor session, and access to a Santa hat.
EDITED TO SAY: OK, I did this just before servers shut down again. Everything above is confirmed. Contact's name is Operative Gruber, right across from the ferry in Sharkhead. Glowie hunt is very easy, no killing necessary, unless you feel like killing even MORE Longbow.

There's also a lower-level contact for the same basic mission in Mercy, in the southern city side. If he doesnt show up in your map (he didnt in mine till I talked to him) he's next to Arbiter Richard. You can't miss him - he's decked out in silly christmas colors for his uniform and the hat peice you're going after yourself :).
Of course, this too was all before the server reset.

Be lucky that it worked on the US servers. When they tried it on the EU severs they went and fell over and we got "due to a small technical hitch we'll start the event tomorrow (16th)"
Thug in a santa hat? I think not...
Edit - bah! Humbug... ok I went and did it, Thugs all Christmassy, going to change it back in January...

Okie dokie...a few questions. Are the free costume changes 'stackable' with existing ones? We got a free one with I6, so I was wondering if this new one overwrites it, or if you get both. Secondly, can you do more than one mission? I ran one, but when I went to another contact, he wouldn't give it to me. I had not used the free tailor session yet, so don't know if that had something to do with it. I'd hate to use the free tailor session to add the hat, just to have to pay to take it off in a few weeks.

Well, it looks like the free tailor session is added onto whatever you had before. I'll report back later about whether you can do the mission(s) more than once.

Did my Santa mish last night and it was way intense going solo, there's a lot of longbow in this mish.
But, with a MM merc set, it was really cool! I'm level 22 so I have 4 mercs to command and clearing the mish was a breeze. The xp wasn't bad, got 2 bubble and a few DO drops out of the deal.
And sad to say, as much as I wanted to do it again with the same hero, the contact just says "Bah, humbug!" when you go back to him.

Besides the extreme amount of lag and DC'ing
Did it at level 36 with my tank and a small team in Talos. Lvl 38 baddies...decent xp.
My 27 MM did it pretty easily in Cap.
Now does the Stocking Cap go away after Jan 2 or does it remain a permanent item?

before loseing access, I only did the COH verson, and it's fun even for a hero fresh from the outbreak thing

sorry I can't add anything to the CoV verson, but I love hearing your experiances, I get to plan my return ( if I get to return)
maybe I'lll even be a force equal to or better than Ghost widow

OK, my experience is this.
I cake walked it with a level 25 brute in CoV solo. The boss was down in 2 / 3 punches.
With Firespray, I died once (Imagine the surprise on my face....), went through 12 respite insps, 9 cabs, 3 orange ones, 3 enrages.... AND I had to call a warwolf to keep the heat off me from the end boss AND I used Stephanie Peebels Invulnerability wedding band for 4 minutes and 12 seconds.
Lessons learnt:
1 - check your current difficulty setting before going into a mission.
2 - Firespray will do anything for a freebie in Icon.
Oh I also unlocked the wolfspider helmet and arachnos dvd cape for Firespray... work that out, a hero with an arachnos symbol... imagine that in Sirens Call...

I have a question regarding the Holiday event.
I get the Contact, Karl, as I don't have any toons beyond level 13 yet (playing all classes semi-simultaneously), did the mission and went to the tailor. The free tailoring is a nice way to correct minor issues you've discovered with your current outfit, or even a complete overhaul seems possible :-)
But, Karl mentioned something about a Christmas Stocking hat, and when entering the Tailor, I brushed shoulders with a villainette wearing something that looked like that. Now I don't really have any costumes that would go with the hat, but I thought I'd atleast try it on. But I can't seem to find it. Oh right, I was going to ask a question here.
Ah, anyone know of a secret handshake or interface thingy I'm overlooking at the Tailor? Or is only lucky sods like Firespray who have the Collector's edition that get the real Christmas Hat?

Sorry, it's a secret and I can't tell you.
OK, seeing as you're staff n all :P
If you go to the tailor and look under the 'Head' option there should be an option under one of that lot for 'Hats', the top one is the Santa hat I belive, can't remember it's exact title. Just change the colours to red with white trim to look a right wally like the rest of us!

I tried that, it had the Derby hat on top, I tried it with someone who did the Mission :-/
Oh well I just spend the better part of my saturday removing five diffrent versions of the bagle worm from my mother's pc, while failing to make her understand this had nothing to do with her beagle. So I'm in the mood for some Longbow Bashing :-)
