Anet Appreciation Day

We can all meet in LA International 1 to help Zack with a video shoot or to protest the lack of a 15k armor, but don't you think it's about time we all get together and throw a little party for Anet?

Gaile Gray stops by to give us information. Even better? Gaile is friendly, kind and even funny sometimes. If I were asked about Guild Storage, haircuts and new pets as often as Gaile, I'd probably leave the U.S. and go help the sick in Africa.

The Frog visits us from time to time and provides that unique amphibious opinion on things coming and going in the world of GW.

To celebrate the Halloween, Anet completely revamped Lion's Arch and other areas to accomodate the mood and spirit of the holiday. Some special event will also be in place for Christmas.

It doesn't matter if you hate AoE nerfs or the scam systems out there right now, shouldn't we all get together in the near future and throw a party for Anet?

For all our complaints, you gotta admit, they do A LOT of listening. I couldn't ask for a more open and player-friendly company to host this game.

Anyone interested who has friends and contacts on other GW boards, please, spread the word. Let's set a date and spend a few hours in celebration of Anet.

I'm game, I think Anet has taken alot of crap from players. They're trying their best to make this game great for EVERYONE, not just a few farmers or single-class players. And despite all the scamming and unbalanced economy, they've done well.

Plus, we gotta thank them for making a great game without p2p restrictions.

Everything they've done may seem counterproductive on the surface, but the underlying upsides are far better than the downsides.

eg. AoE update: decreased the power of AoE, but increased the creativity and variety of players. Plus anyone who left GW because of this update probably wouldn't have made it anyway.

Glad to see positve results already. Please do me a favor guys, spread word to your guilds. Let them know we're going to have an Anet Party in LA Intl. Dis 1.

Why?

Not for the game, so much as for what they do FOR the game.

Anyone with an idea of the best time please, please, please, speak up and help get this ball rolling.

And as I posted earlier, if you're a regular poster on another board like GWonline.net or any of the various others, please, spread the word?

My only thought is either getting it out of the way 2 or 3 days BEFORE Christmas, or shortly before the new year, so we can start the new year off on the right foot with Anet =)

It's a nice idea, you have one problem though. For best attendance, you'd have to go for a time-period during a weekend and there's only one left of those before Christmas and New Year's eve, the coming one.

There's a Gameamp Party planned tomorrow at 18:00 hours GMT (noonish for west-coast US I believe) in LA-INT-1. We can always 'theme' that to ArenaNet appreciation party and hope more folks from other fansites, guidls e.t.c. join in on the fun :-)

Lani beat me to it , asking about what time and what time zome the time caller comes from ;)

Also a set area in lions, out of the way of those just playing the game. Well it would be bad fo others if we camped near storage or the merchants.

So location is Lion's Arch, Time is ?, Place in Lions is ?

and PS: top idea this meeting as they are trying to make a top balanced game.

Didn't end up exactly as planned, but at least I'm making a video out of what did happen :) There were 8 of us who partied for a whole 2 hours straight, but there were about 40 people at about an hour through.

yeah well it was fun the hour it lasted...we danced and danced and danced, i saw lots AMP members there :P

I would vote for the Anet appreciation party to be held right before new years. ( I think a lot of people will be away over the Xmas holidays, like myself )

Okay.

With such short notice, it was tough to expect much of anything to happen. I was sorry to miss out on meeting AMP members and watching people do silly things and for that reason, I'm setting up a plan now.

January 7th, 2006. LA internation District 1, 12 noon EST (GMC -5:00 I think...)

This will be the Saturday FOLLOWING New Years. It will give everyone time to do their holiday shopping, enjoy the unwinding that comes with being free from school, and lastly, it allows plenty of time for advertising.

Anet Appreciation Day: January 7th, 2006.

I want every major guild; every class of character; every type of armor and every type of crazy-ass name there and having a good time.

Where do we meet? If this is done right, that question won't need an answer: the whole district 1 should be our playground. Just to be specific though, we'll start this bugger off at the fountain.

Each week leading toward A-Day I'll post a new message to make sure the word is getting out. I daresay, it might even be worth joining new boards just to help pass the word on, so I'll probably do that as well, though any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Speak to your guilds, let 'em know what's up.

First update =)

I've posted to 4 boards so far: Gameamp, GWonline.net, Guildwarsguru.com and Crossing Tyria.

There's been a lot of positive responses and interest in general.

I've heard about 9 Guilds say they've posted notices and plan to attend. I'll eventually compile a list of the interested guilds.

As a reminder:

Anet Appreciation Day, Saturday January 7th, LA Intl. Dis 1

While I'll be starting off my leg of the party at 12 noon EST (GMC -5:00) There's been mention from numerous people overseas and from other countries that the timing won't work quite right for them.

That's why it's A-Day and not A-hour. =)

Anytime during the day will be great. If you want to collect your guild and bring them all down together, awesome. Doesn't matter what time zone, continent or Intl district you hail from.

With the hope that in 2-weeks time we have 30 or more guilds represented, I thought it would be great start our own private A-Day guild ladder. We could spam the Trade Channel in LA Intl. Dis 1 with different GvG offers as a way of promoting Guild Wars within Guild Wars. Clever, I know. lol

If you populate other GW sites, please, pass word along? Copy or quote my text any way you want, take credit for it yourself, it doesn't matter. Just help promote the idea, please.
