I created a SuperGroup named Arachnos' Elite a month ago in the server Pinnacle, based on those most loyal to Arachnos. I was just on another CoV site, CoVGuru.Com, when I found an article about the newest, greatest, fastest growing SuperGroup in the Virtue server: Arachnos Elite! They stole my idea!!!!

Even if they didn't actually know about it, I'm pretty sure that something bad'll happen. Either members of my group will find out about it, accuse me of copying about it, or maybe I'll even lose members! Not that I'm trying to sound over-dramatic, but I'm a bit worried about it. I'll probally not lose any members, and I'm sure this'll never even be brought up again, but I can't help but worry a bit over this. They have a website at www.ArachnosElite.com, and it's obviously way cooler then my SuperGroup.

First off, welcome to the site! Sorry to hear about your dilemma, but either way I hope it works out for you, maybe you guys can do a merge or something so both SG's can rule two servers ^_^

I doubt they "stole" your idea. It's a pretty natural progression of ideas. Arachnos, being the major baddie group in CoV, is bound to have groups that will be modeled after it. Arachnos Elite is one such natural progression name.
Rather than looking at it as a negative, try contacting the Supergroup leaders over on the other server and establish a Global Channel that you can both work together on. Sort of a "cross server" coalition.

Alright, but I doubt they'll do it. My group's small and unknown compared to how many members they've grown in the week they've been created, so the leader might take the idea of merging with my group as somewhat of a loss for their group, because it wouldn't exactly be a neutral merge by size of bases, amount of members, and total prestige. Seriously, it's like only THREE of my members are even willing to enter Super Group Mode for a single mission!

They dont have to have the SG colours to be in SG mode. Just having it on and having your costume 'as normal' still nets your group prestige.
I play in SG mode all the time but change the colours whenever I do a SG mission - so it takes a few minutes to do, means we all look the same and the colours arent really that important.
I'm sure in time they will come to understand it all!!

Heh... I'd love to fight them, but we're in different servers. Here's what'd happen if we were in the same server, though: My second in command, Model J-7, uses his ranged powers to blast apart several enemies. My squad leader, Mr.Top Hat, slashes apart all of the wretches guarding the leader, and I assassinate him/her. Of course, it would be a friendly battle.

LoL...I am part of the Virtue Arachnos Elite. As far as I know, A) its on a diffrent server, i know of MANY SG's that all have the same name from diffrent servers. B) Our SG leader replyed to you in an Email stateing that OUR Virtue SG was created on Oct. 31st (launch day), in your email to him you said that you SG started about a month ago which would be November. If there was any 'real' problem with the name i do not think Cryptic would allow two SG's to have the same name. Im sorry that you feel that you have been 'robbed' but wiht the inculsion of the Bonus Helms and DvD Symbol, you have to realize that the name Arachnos Elite would be common. if there still any problems you can PM myself you send another email to our SG leader again.
As far as a "cross-server SG coaltion", right on our front page it says that we are looking to expand to all the servers...if you speak wiht our SG leader maybe, dont quote me tho'< maybe we could work something out. I would also not worry about players leaving your SG for the simple fact that its on a diffrent server. If i ahd made a alt on Pinn i would not start over on another server just to join a SG. So just keep doing your thing and have fun...its only a game.

Heh... Your site said you made your SG a week ago, which would be December. And I highly doubt someone could train up to level 10 and begin an SG in a single day.

this is from the front page of our site...
" Even though we are one of the fastest growing Arachnos based Supergroups, we are still looking for more recruits to do the bidding of Lord Recluse. 'In a little over a week', we have had 23 recruits join, most of which are based as Arachnos characters. We are no longer EXCLUSIVELY taking members with the Arachnos emblem, so non-Arachnos based characters are free to join. But if your character has the emblem, you are more than welcome."
I think what you mistake for us having started the SG 'a week ago' is the line from above "In a little over a week". That is jsut implying that over the cousre of that week, NOT we started a week ago. Also my main,on both CoH and CoV were easily hitting lvl 10 + in the first day of playing them.

Fine, here's how I really feel. I feel jealous. I thought I came up with a completly original name for a great SG. Then when I discovered another SG with the same name, I looked into it and became confused, thinking that it was only a week old when apparently it's over 2 months old, so I posted about it here, trying not to get on anyones bad side or make a mistake that might get me banned from this site. But apparently, I did get on somebody's bad side. Your leader sent me a cold e-mail, sounding like it was written by a robot-lawyer about how his group was created before mine and he had more rights to the name then I did, and you coming on and listing out several reasons of what was wrong with what I said. I swear, a site shouldn't have described Arachnos Elite as "fast-growing" and "already one of the greatest SuperGroups" if it was made on the first day CoV came out.
I'm sure what I just said is sure to get me some negative credibility, and I tried very hard not to flame, but that's how I honestly feel. Jealous. Crushed. And like I've been just been humiliated by one of the giant, monopolizing, or as you call them "successful", SGs. Honestly, it's like Wall-Mart. We all shop there, but in the end, the small SGs are the losers who are soon absorbed into its mass.

I am here to only respond to this subject.
#1 - The message I sent to you was written in proper English. If this is cold then assume that with my advanced years (age) that I do not respond to "threatening" emails in a derogatory manor. I respond in the way I talk in everyday life. If you can not deal with this, then it's not my problem.
#2 - Yes, within a few hours, you can get a character from lvl 1 to lvl 10. So it's not unheard of that someone can so this. It's called Powergaming, and I've been doing it since the day City of Heroes started.
#3 - The Arachnos Elite (my Supergroup) was created on day one of the two day head start, October 31st. In fact, I started the Supergroup in the Beta and had a nice following.
#4 - ArachnosElite.com was made public and advertised on many boards starting November 2nd, 2005. Taken directly from the WHOIS Database:

The website has been running since November 2nd. We have quite a few members. On the main page it was "noted" that within the past week we've had an "extra" 23 members join. Nowhere did it mention that the site had been up for a week. Anyway, that is neither here nor there.
#5 - The website is being called "One of the fastest growing Arachnos based Supergroups on the Virtue server" is because it has been up for almost two months and still people want to join. It was never called the fastest growing until last week when I updated that section of the website.
#6 - You have not been crushed by a "monopolizing" SG. You should look up the word and see what it really means. We are running one SG on the server and we do not plan on taking all of them over. We're just striving to be one of the best.
#7 - I think that Huron's comment about you being twelve is seen as just that. Don't read around the lines. When you are 30 and you hear a twelve year old complain about something as trivial as a name of a Supergroup on a server that you aren't even on... you'll think the same way. Twelve year old minds don't develop to the point that 30 year olds do. It takes years. You'll grow and see what's important in life, just like everyone else does. It's not a derogatory comment, just a fact of life.
I didn't come here to flame you. I came here to respond to your comments because you are feeling that you are being singled out because someone came up with an idea before you did. If I were you, I wouldn't worry about this sort of thing unless you come up with the next form of recyclable fuel, invest your life savings into it, then find out that a month earlier someone applied and got the patent on it.
And to respond to the email you sent to me telling me to rename my SG because you have one on another server:
You think that after I put in over 120 hours designing the website (and yes, I worked on the website BEFORE the game even came out, who would of thought someone could do that, huh?) after I've spent an unbelievable amount of money on the server I bought to be able to host videos, pics, to have a streaming radio station (all for this website) that I'm going to walk away from because a "12 year old" tells me to, because he's upset that someone else used the name he wanted? That is just ridiculous.
As I said in my email, this is the last you will hear from me on this subject because I have better things to worry about.
For the rest, I welcome you all to visit the website and feel free to apply for a membership.
