this aplication has requested the runtime to termiate it in an unusual way. please contact the application's support team for more information.
anyone else had this message, and if so what they do to fix it, btw after i click ok it closes the program. i get this every time i start the game after logging in.
*edit*
the title of the error, the top of the little box, is: microsoft visual C++ runtime library

Is this the first time you are starting up SoG? Some people had that problem on the first day and it helped to delete their DnL.ini file in the DnL directory. Actually, I would try this anyway because it seems to fix most problems that aren't server side.
If that doesn't fix it then the server may be having problems (it usually is). Try again after waiting a few hours.
If you are still getting the same error every time you try to log in for more than 24 hours, contact tech support. They may or may not respond to your ticket quickly, depending on the problem. (I got a responce to a serious request in less than 24 hours on the second day of SoG. Other have complained they do not get responces at all but I suspect they are sending in complaints rather than serious requests.)

Do you get a "Maxiumum number of connections is reached" error and then get stuck in an infinite loop? If so, I think everyone is getting that lately. The Devs reduced the number of people who can be connected to the game at one time to some outrageously low number and now almost nobody can play. Then theres some bug in the message that causes the loop instead of booting you from the game.
If its something else, it is most likely server problems. If you get a message that says "LOGIN DEFINED CUSTOM ERROR" then that means the login server is down or having problems.

Hello mjclarke, welcome to GameAmp.
I am not sure if you typed it wrong here, but it is not launcher.ini you should delete. The file that should be deleted is dnl.ini, and it can be found one folder up.
