Yesterday I was happily running around in Steel Canyon with my lvl 28 blaster from one mission to another, when I get a blind invite. I have no problem with them. I often accept blind invites, and usually they are not bad teams. After thinking it over for a second I decide to accept. The "team" is only one player. I say "Hi", which is replied by "Come to Bloody Bay".
I tell him I am not interested in PVP, but he replies that neither is he. He just wants some help with a mission. I don't really feel like going all the way to BB, but decide to go help my fellow hero anyway. Half way there he says "have to let the dog out, 1 sec". So I travel on, and reach BB. The "hero" is standing near exit, and has not even picked a mission yet, and he is lvl 17! I wait for a minute or two to tell him he is wasting my time, but he is not returning.
Of course I quit, and go back to my own mission. But what was this "hero" thinking? It won't stop me from accepting blind invites, but I think the freaks I was fighting felt my anger. But now I feel better. Thanks for listening :)

I've had that happen a few times, one time the guy who invited a whole team of 8 went afk at the start of the mission. After 5 minutes of playing with every emote available, one of the team members made a comment about starting the mission and I said I wasn't going to do someone's mish unless they were there to help, and a couple of others agreed and we were suddenly booted from the team.
Found out later the jerk was sitting there the whole time waiting for us to do his mission!!
Gotta love the kindergarten mentality you run into every now and then, keeps the game interesting. haha

Sounds like a n00b encounter to me.
"I see n00bies everywhere"
"They don't know they're n00bz"
Either they expected you to Exemp down to help them clear a mish(playing a lot of Blasters, I'm usually game for a mish or 2 to clear my debt and make a little extra influence), or weren't looking at the level of your toon when they sent the invite. I still get blind invites that seem like someone is just going down the list of who's on and sending blind invite after blind invite until someone accepts.
I try to have a chat conversation about what I need help with when I'm dealing with someone I do not know. I know how much I dislike blind invites, so I try to have the courtesy to ask if they could help me when I'm in a bind.

I get stuff like that from time to time. It's just the price you pay for interacting with fun people and interesting things. Having to occasionally meet some people who have no social graces.

I took speed boost with my Mind/Kin (lvl 20) the other day, and decided to have fun slapping it on lowbies in AP. I hit a level 1 with it and immediately got an invite from them...I'll get blind invites on higher level toons while going through the Hollows too.

Oh, this also reminds me of the time I took a blind invite in PP and was immediately ported - with no warning - into a fight vs a bunch of hydras (I've shared that before though I think).

Or how about getting kicked from a team just before the mish ends like you aren't going to get xp

Isn't there something you can do about extremely rude players? Especially ones who drop you from the team just as the mission is finishing? Something like a tell to the game managers (I forget the name of this) like when you get stuck or what-have-you (petition)?

Blind invites are unacceptable! A breif description of what to expect isn't much to ask with a tell. "wanna help with mish lvl 30", thats not to hard.
Even worse than blind invites to a team is blind invites to a SG! UUMMM, I don't think so, some noob who just hit lvl 10 and created their SG 2 mins ago, throwing invites at everyone in their visual range. Try teaming with the person first!
I always have in my player description in the find menu, "No Blind Invites, PST!" Seems to work well, still get the drive by invites though!

That sucks Phedre!
I got the worst invite the other day...my level 29 healer on PRotector got invited to a "Go to Portal Corp lab in Skyway City"...so I said Why not the guy is level 32 I'll SK...
Wow!
It had Nemesis AND Rikti, and they were all purple!
The healer died twice, the guy that invited was a blaster and kept aggroing the Nemesis Warhulks...he called himself a 'blapper'????
Anyway I left and then the Protector server got hacked :P :P

Heh, there is a heathen like in CoV, that gets people about 2 or 3 levels lower than him to help people fight Enemies, 2 levels higher than he is. Well, he recruited me and a couple others. This bastard gets us into the mish. . .aggroes a group of enemies and gets everyone killed. . .we all get ourselves together and he does it again. And he all of a sudden leaves. . .
Well, I was feeling cheated. . .so I finished the mish, requested assistance from a couple of high lvl players and got that mish done. . . dont think anyone had any debt after the mish was over. . .hahahaha STICK IT TO THE MAN

We had a really good team going the other night ( the usual suspects ) when some-one asked if he could join, out of politeness our team leader asked if that was ok with everyone as he was a lower level and would need a sk, and we get 'are you going to invite me bitch or what?' sheesh some people and it's Christmas!

Before I respond to a blind invite I do the /search command and type in their name to see what level they are. If there is too much difference in level and they haven't given me an explanation, I won't accept. Sometimes I think people just see high levels and think great experience. Unfortunately, they don't realize if it is too different they won't get any xp.
Just a couple of things I experienced these past couple of days. Both happened with Miss Switzerland. The first, running a mission with 3 other players and as soon a one of the levels (middle of the mission), you guessed it, "brb, gotta go level". I just thought, what power is so important that you can't wait until the mission is over. They went from the back side of the Hollows to Atlas. By the time the team window showed him in Atlas we had finished the mission.
The second occurred as we were outside a mission and waiting for the rest of the team. We had been running with 3 controllers and a blaster. I am an earth troller and the other two were illusion. the blaster was checking with contact and one of the trollers and I were standing by the entrance to the mission talking. He was about to leave (child needing him) but we were finishing a conversation. The other illusion controller arrives and enters the mission. 30 seconds later he comes back out of the door with almost zero health. He goes done on one knee and rests to full health, then clicks on the door again. Not even 30 seconds later he is back out with almost zero health again. He then says "I don't think I am doing as much damage as I thought I could." I laughed the first time he came out, but the second time was just too much. I said goodbye to the other teammate then said to this eager beaver, let's both go in, but don't attack until I hold them. Needless to say, we went in I hit them with stone cages, quicksand and glue arrow. Once they were held he was able to start taking them out with the containment bonuses. Afterward he says something about that being a lot easier. It is amazing what can happen when you know how to use each others strengths.
ahhh, fun times.

:D, I'm guilty of doing this with my 50. I'm bored, and I got a SG that needs more active players. I've actually recruited a level 38 and a level 50 by blind SG invites. Most of the time if I try recruiting 20+ by blind SG invites, I get rejected.
But on topic just last week I was in the Hollows with my 50 just healing random lowbies so I can earn those badges and I get asked by a level 11 to help him with the Frostfire mission. Well I replied if I join your team you won't earn any XP, but he invited me anyways and I've beaten it for him. Samething with a level 8, random healing with my 50, got asked to help them with the Defeat all Creatures in Cave mission, told them that they wouldn't recieve any XP with me on their team and still got invited... and completed the mission for them.
