It's wierd, I'm on my 15th or so character since the release of the game. Not once did I ever consider power leveling a character...until now. There is just something about having done certain quests 14+ times before that makes you wanna skip it all...hmm...
No. Power leveling = bad!! Shame on me for thinking that way. Someone stop be before I do something I'm gonna regret for the rest of my characters life...
Bad blackphoenix!! BAD!!

Mmmmm...
I wonder why the situation you are in now seems so strangely familiar to me...
You're not alone phoenix!! Once u start yet another PvE charr and have to do all those missions at the start all over again, u get bored to dead! Not to mention the entire jungle area zzzzzzzzzz... !!
When I started my new ranger charr, I had the same feeling as u had!!
I didn't want to play those quests or those missions at start of the game, untill I came across a problem : Skill points!! When u play a mission + bonus, u get 2 skills points! But if u skip the missions, u miss a lot of skill points! Since u don't do all of the starter quests, u don't get a lot of skills as quest rewards, so u have to buy your skills! When u don't have the 2 skills points u get from completing a mission, u will find yourself in some problems real soon...
So I decided to play the missions, but not the quests! I do some of them if they give me a skills I really want but not want to buy/not find the place to buy it...
Hope I helped ya to quit powermining a little! If this didn't help, I'll be selling special patches that can help u to quit smoking errrr Powermining

heh... i spose i'd be called lame if i mentioned that i was powered on my current char. I had to pay 2k/level (did from 7 to 18) it took about an hour then i just went back and did missions... now i have 22 avail skill points... wait 23 i just hit 20 earlier. though i couldn't handle dunes by self with henchies with the skillset i have (as im still using power hit sprint gash seeking strike mending orison of healing and some weak def stance.) in any case good luck.
btw the way the person who levels me does it is i get run to elona (ya that alone costs me about 15k.) then they go in with their e/me and cast a combo of earthquake / aftershock / channeling / (some ice spell that hits area)/ and mist form / (other stuff i never cared to remember). Just an idea if you ever decide to power level people yourself.

I don't feel that being power leveled is lame. After about 1000 PvE characters you tend to just wanna be lvl20 and be done with it. What is lame is a newb (newbie, someone new to the game) that gets powerleveled, then expects the world on a silver platter just because he's lvl20 now.
Me? I won't powerlevel. It's the same as farming to me. Same thing over and over again. I would much rather be accomplishing something (i.e. quest, mission, etc) than mindlessly killing monster after monster. But hey, if it floats your boat, then go ahead.
Just whatever you do, don't ever ever ever EVER pay real money for a power leveling service or to buy gold...that IS lame. Oh yeah, and it's against the terms of service too.

i wont stop you on one condition... no lvl 10's in droks please take the long run "ascend" you go from lvl 9->16 something like that. also you get a skill point for every bonus untill your a lvl 20. cruel that people wont acept less than a lvl 20 on some of the missions... the game should give you a skill point for a bonus completed after lvl 20 life is cruel.

I wonder if you aren't suffering from the same condition I am, Phoenix. With which I'm referring to my tendency to start a new character with which to have fun at lower levels, I then inevitably start rushing myself at some point and end up trying to convince people to let me into their Dunes/Elona/River parties despite my 16 Levels. Without being run anywhere btw. That's something I just don't do.
The thing is, as soon as I have both accounts fully loaded with LVL20's I get that itch again, to go run amok in Pre-searing and enjoy the simplicity of early level gameplay. So I look the other way, pull the trigger on one of my beloved characters, pink away a tear and start anew. At some point I then inevitably start rushing...
Well, you get my drift :-)
The grass on the other side of the hill always looks greener, especially in pre-searing Ascalon and melancholy just isn't what it used to be, these days.

Oh no, you mean that having 8 slots isn't the solution to full slot blues? Man, and I thought that if I only had 6 slots I would be happy...bummer... :D
But yeah, that is the same issue I'm having. I've done it so many times that anything before the Jungle has almost no appeal to me anymore no matter what way I slice it. :)

My problem is that I think I over explored the map. Some areas hold no attraction to me any more. And the early quests are getting really really repetative.
I think most of us love the early parts of the game because they lack the need for traveling in large groups. Large groups are really really annoying.

I found this here.
I think it's been out a little longer than 6 months.

WOW. You got robbed. I do that run for 5k form ascalon city. I have a 100% success rate. Running is fun, but I hate looking for people to run. I usually sugest that a person play the game through first, and I try to only run people that have done so. After the second time of playing the game through it is VERY boring looking for pickup groups to do missions and quests. On my last two characters I had a guildy run me to the desert then help me power level and ascend and I went back and did the missions and quest. It made it a lot faster. I usually can't pickup many people to run from ascalon to the desert, even though I have timed it and it only takes me an hour. I have run a lot of guildies through it though.
I have not problem with power leveling if you have played the game through at least once. It is very boring to do all that stuff at a low level if you have already done it once. Also it is boring playin low level crap by yourself when you can't take that character and play in the high level areas with guildies and friends.
I have never had the urge to start a new character just to have fun at low levels. Although it is kinda fun to take a level 20 character out in old Ascalon every once and a while. I would be very happy with 6 slots. Of course I get my kicks out of playing the end of game areas like SF, FOW and UW using different builds and groups.

well its tremendously difficult to find a good runner in the game... Ive been scammed for runners quite few times (so now i no longer pay half up front unless im in a group of 6). Also note ive reported everyone who has scammed me, but noone really knows what becomes of the scammers, as arenanets privacy policy doesb't allow it. For future refrence tell me your chars name, ill gladly do ascalon to desert, i mean its 1k to yaks, 1k to beacons, 1k to la, 1k to fishermans, 1k for mission.... and that means i have to wait for runners who accept those terms.
also can someone please pm me as to where these trolls everyone refers to are? Ive gone as far west as the wilds, i lost interest in going further west. plz assist via pm.
as for power leveling, i saw a few failed attempts by a n/e the other day and a few mad clients.
