Well, it seems I may soon join the ranks of those that own more than one GW account. So far I have been able to suck it up and deal with deleting a character each time I wanted to make a new one. But now...I don't think I can do it again and I need a monk...I deleted mine to make room for a ranger.
So, Ranger, Necromancer, Warrior, Elementalist, and I am happy with all of them. The only solution then is to buy a second (actually 3rd, since my wife owns a copy too) copy for another 4 slots...
Can anyone tell me, is it difficult to switch between accounts, and do you need to have a second email for the new account or can you just add the new key under the same email account?

I would also be interested in this. I am debating on deleting my mesmer just so I can create a MM necro. But I don't want to. And deleting my Elemental (who has completed the game), warrior, and monk is not an option. Would be great if I could just purchase another account, and then just change user name and password each time. But, if memory serves, I recall reading somewhere that you are left with actually buying a second copy of the game instead. Anyone able to help us with an answer? :-) I'll give you good credit points! heh heh

I cannot be completely for certain, as I don't own multible keys, but the people I talked to about it said that you have to use a new e-mail because when you log in, it won't give you the option of which account to use, so ANet makes you use a different e-mail. As far as switching goes, it's just a little more typing than required to change characters with one account. Instead of having to retype your password, you'd have to highlight, delete, and change the login. I don't see that as being too bad, especially since I would use the same password for both accounts.

The only Difficulties i've had till now with my 2 accounts are switching items. u would have to get some1 u trust each time, like a guildie or a friend to hold on to ur items while u switch accounts.

- You do need a seperate e-mail address for your second account.
- Swapping items can be done through an intermeiary, or if you have that option, use two pc's.
- You can cause some confusion when whispering friends who only know you by one account.
- Your Guild generally sets you up to keep a 'GvG practice guild' occupied even though you're a PvE player. The account doing that can get lonely without Guild chat.
- Oh, and 8 or 10 times 15K armor really cuts into your cash reserves :-)
- It's fun to be on your 2nd account and listen in on people bitch about the Guild Leader which is your other account.

So, can I just type in a new email address and be prompted to purchase an account, or do we need to buy another copy of the game?

Well, you do need to purchase another copy. You don't actually have to buy another full copy from a store, on plaync's website there is a place you can purchase the CD Key only, but I'm not sure of where it is on that site.

Its actually cheaper right now to but a second full thing at Best Buy. They dropped their price to 30 dollars right before christmas.

Haha, Phoenix, welcome to the club.
I had difficulty thinking of deleteing characters on my 1st account, I had to purchase a 2nd. And on the second, I found I needed a third for storage alone. It's fun to join a pug and find that they really need XYZ profession instead. So I tell them to hang tight and I would return with one.
Switching items isn't that difficult since I use my laptop to have my storage account up and running while my desktop is the main play PC. The difficulty I run into is who has what, so this weekend I will organize it such a way that I will designate characters to hold certain type of items. Like 1 char for materials, another for weapons, another for collector items, etc.
Have fun with the 2nd account.

It isn't from their site. You load up guildwars and at the login screen, there is a button for account options or serial number something or other. You click that, and then it offers 2 more buttons, one is Enter Serial one is Purchase Serial.

.... and if you follow that path, you'll end up being told to visit their site, i.e. www.plaync.com. But I wouldn't recommend that course. Unless they've substantially lowered their prices recently, you can generally pick up a box version at a store with a 10 - 20% discount on PlayNC prices...

I purchased my 2nd through 5th copies through amazon.com. If you purchase just the serials/key from PlayNC, you will pay FULL retail prices. Since they are the manufacturer/publisher, they can only sell at retail, no more, no less.
There are other retailers that offer discounts as well.

I envy you, Blackphoenix. I actually own one account, but had a friend that stopped playing GW. He gave me access to it, but I usually just use my own.

Well, I went to Best Buy to use my Christmas gift certificates. The price was back to $49.99, but luckily, the shelftag still showed $39.99 so I got it for that price! :-) This is the first time ever I have bought two copies of the same game. lol

It seems that I too shall join the many who have 2 accounts. 8) Oh and at Wal-mart, it is still priced at $39.99 as of today. (*goes down to wal-mart and buys another copy of GW*) Can't wait to try out some new builds! :)
