is it dishonorable? yes. it's like using a cheat in a game and takes the fun out of it. Also it messes with the overall economy of GW so if you buy gold here once you'll have to do it again and again to keep up if the economy increases. That and you're supporting sweatshops in korea where kids are forced to play this game for hours on end doing nothing but farming so people can sell the gold and items for real money...
Are you a bad guy? Not really, alot of people have given in to temptation and bought gold with money and its worse if you used a farm bot or a hack. then you are a bad guy and have helped ruin the game for the rest of us.

The moral reasons not to do it are very well worded above me. There's also a practical side. ArenaNet has an EULA which specifically denounces buying or selling ingame goods for real money. While they rightfully focus on the resellers, they reserve the right to ban you from the game for participating in such transactions. So if having fun in the game or the moral issues aren't a deterrent for you, please consider this before making any final decisions.

I agree with all the statements above. I have two friends that have sucomb to the Darkside, and I take every chance to needle them about it. Does it make you a bad person? No, but just think, the things you want the bootleg gold for, would you feel better when someone said "Nice armor where did you get it?" would you want your answer to be, "Hours of fun playing the game with friends I made on GW's and a little help from my Kick@ss guildemates." or "I just bought the gold on EBay, then paid someone to run me to Droks/SF/UW/Citadel and bought it."
Currently I am running with Droks armor, with two characters and my gold account has never topped over 80K, and I have had a blast playing the game.
Hope this helps to point you in the right direction.

i wear cheap trainers! yes it is bad but why do you want to buy gold? ask yurself is it worth the supposed risk? if they ban your account i suspect they would be on the case of people who sell more that those who buy... your choice

anyways i agree with wat every1 has said and that it doesnt make u bad person, but it doesnt make u a good one either.

well actually gameamp doesnt approve of any of them. google just puts those adds up there for us and we cant do a thing about it.

Yes, I feel that most people don't realize it, but google is quickly headed the way of Microsoft. They are beginning to get too big for their britches. I don't care if they have the best search on the net, just because your product is the best doesn't mean you are better than everyone else and have the right to tell people how to do things.
With great power comes great responsibility. I hope the people at google realize that and always keep that in mind.

Just play the game. Have fun and enjoy.
Don't get caught in the hype and start "keeping up with the Jones'".
For the longest time, I played with the collector's items from the Crystal Desert. It did not make me a better player. It's your ability to play your character to its potential.
Just play.

Lets face facts people. This is just a game. Buying gold does not make you bad or even dishonorable. It is not even against the law. GW could not sew you because you did not sign anything. They can stop allowing you access to the GW world because of the EULA, but that is about it.
If anything it makes you stupid because you are missing out on the fun and satisfaction of working for such gold. I have never bought any gold, but I don't put down people who do. If they want to risk their account it won't hurt me any. From what I have seen it does not affect the economy as much as people think. A lot of that money is made off of selling "godly" items. When they nerf some farming build or something the price of those items jump because there is less of them available. Now the farmers get and sell less of those items, but sell them for more and make just about the same amount of money. I like the economy in GW as it is right now and right now there are thousands of sells going on eBay for gold.
As for poor little Asian kids playing guild wars 18 hours a day I dare you to go and try to "free" them from that job. You will be faced with short little ninjas booting you in the face. You know what they get to do if they are not inside sitting at a computer playing a game? They have to sew shirts or make Nike's for 18 hours a day. As far as they are concerned they have a good job. The problem is not from people buying money for a GAME it is the economy, and a bunch of political bs that needs to be solved.
As for people being dishonorable for doing something in this game, I could possible agree with that. Only on the basis that you clicked on a box saying that you would not do something and you still did it, but just so you guys know no matter how many monsters or PvP people you kill it will never give you honor in real life where it matters. In fact I would say that all of us could be considered dishonorable just for wasting so much time on a game instead helping people or something. I am probably more guilty of that than most.
That’s just my rant. I am tired of seeing people get jumped on about something so stupid. I think we should save our heated criticism for something worthwhile in real life. Once we fix all the problems in the real world we can start jumping people for the bad things they do in the cyber world.
Now go out and vote or something. :)
