Capes

So now that the newest patch is on the test server, it means we will be seeing it very soon on the live servers. What i was wondering is how many of you out there plan on getting a cape? I for one will not be getting a cape for my main character. None of her outfits would benifit w/ a cape added to it, and frankly she would look pretty strange in one.

I know there has been a high demand (on the offical forums) for them and was just wondering what everyone's view her was on them.

Re: Capes

I have one character, out of the main 5 that I play, that I think would benefit from having a cape added to their costume.

Although, I am curious as to what the mission to obtain a cape is going to be. If it is possible to have one and not wear it, I might consider having all my characters do the mission. Just so I can say that they have done it.

Re: Capes

Well I can tell you about the mission as I did it. I don't know if there is any variation to it.

It starts off with the City Representative in Atlas Park and it involved running around talking to a number of people about Hero 1 and getting the back-story on that.

Then I had to go to Perez Park to the Shrine of Hero 1. This was very disappointing as it looked like nothing but a typical Perez Park cave from the outside and the high tech dungeon on the inside. The backstory does say it's not much of a shrine because Hero 1 wouldn't have wanted it that way, but come on. I think they may as well of said its not much of a Shrine because we didn't take the time to make one (okay rant over). Inside was a number of Rikti trying to bash their way into one of those museum type boxes (the shrine).

After defeating those I had to return back to the City Hall Representative in Atlas Park where she informed me I now had access to capes from the tailor.

Going to the Tailor I now had a cape option for each of my Costumes. So if you have 3 costumes you can do a cape for each of them. The downside though is the cost 110,000 for a cape and I didn't have near that since transferring characters to the test server doesn't transfer your money. So I need to do some hunting before I can actually get my cape.

Similarly there is another mission from the City of Representatives that has to do with Auras...for powers I think. I did the mission which involved killing 15 Freaks, then 15 Rikti, then 15 DE. After completing this I went back to the City Hall Representative and was told I now have access to Auras from the Tailor Shop. I didn't bother going back to the tailor yet though because I am sure those cost money too.

I was disapointed with the "shrine" but I do understand they had a lot on their plates in rolling out the update. I hear a lot of MA and Katana scrappers are happy and people talking about Tank Love too. Wish I could say the same though. I utterly hate my char in this patch...to bad I can't respec him completely.

Re: Capes

I don't plan on getting a cape for my main scrapper, but the new katana animations are sure going to take some time to get used to. Before, it was all about timing because of the animation. Now with the new animations, my timing is off, and its just something I'm going to have to deal with until I get better at it. Might have to change around some hotkeys to acomidate a new style of play.

Otherwise, I haven't had too much time to check out the new patch's capabliities, except for chat windows and enhancement windows and such.

Looking forward to seeing it go live.

Re: Capes

Well, if a cape is gonna cost me 110k Influence, I think I will be passing in it myself. That is just plain too much for a piece of cloth that will hang on my back. Having some sort of themed mission to learn about Hero 1 is fine, but let's be real, 110k for a cape?!?? (rant over)

Hope they tweak down the cost. If so, I might consider it. Otherwise, my characters already look "cool" :)

But when you get to 25 or higher, 115 is the equivilent of pennies.

Re: Capes

Yeah its not much at that level really. It is only a big deal on the test server because you go over there with no money other than what you can sell your enhancehemts for. Otherwise there would have been characters running around with millions instead of a few K hehe.

Re: Capes

the prices of capes is based on what level you are at the time, so it would be cheaper for a lvl 20 to get their capes than say a lvl 30 or what not, but yeah i've heard they are expensive! but the effects for your characters are considerably cheaper than capes (which is strange you would think it would be the other way around)

Re: Capes

I did the cape mission as well but only because I had to to do the aura mission. I'm not too fond of the capes myself then again none of my chars have flight so I really dont need one. The jetpacks are pretty sweet and this would be the way I went if any of my chars did ever learn to fly. The auras are alot more reasonable than the capes also, Think I paid somewhere around 16k for my effects.
Ya know its kinda funny that I can only think of one or two Superheroes from movies, TV, ect. that actually sported capes, but in paragon more heroes showed up for that piece of cloth than they did to battle Hamidon.

I feel so sorry for you, it took you a whole whopping 30 minutes to rake in half a million influence. I have characters that been playing for months and don't have that kind of cash. lol

Re: Capes

I have a cape for both costumes so far, and at lvl 30 I get a 3rd costume and at 40 another! So why not get a cape so that you have the option to make one of those costumes cape compatible. And now they have the Auras at level 30!

So with all these great options why not do these missions as soon as you get the chance. That way it won't be a struggle at higher levels. These missions are pretty easy at the level they are offered at to include the Respec TF.

If you are willing to spend a few hours on a tf for Respec, then spend about an hour getting your new costume and your new cape. Having that option open always makes things easier and more fun in the long run!

Re: Capes

So far, I have one character that I think you would look good with a cape. But the other 2 characters I play, I agree, would look out of place if I threw a cape on them. (ever seen a borg drone with a cape? heh heh) I do agree though with the last post about, since you have the option for more then one costume, why not get the cape. You may chose an totally different look for your hero that would look shiek in a cape. ;)

Re: Capes

Well, ya'll know I got 'em, At first I wasn't going to get one for the main costume and created the alt costume for HH, but, after seeing it with the colors in place...I couldn't help myself...in fact I love the purple/green look better then the alt costume look.

Bummer of the situation is I have the DVD edition for the extras, but, the cape for the special edition needs to have a certain look, and neither of these costumes had what it needed.

So, I'll design a special costume for the next level I can get a new costume...which is what level by the way? I can't find any threads on costumes anywhere unless I'm just not using the correct search terms for it. The first is of course level 20, so I'm taking a wild guess and thinking maybe level 30 is the next costume mission?

And for those high enough...what are the remaining missions like for the costumes? Level 20 was arrest 20 or 30 Tsoo. What follows?

I'm babbling again, I'll stop for now...

Yes, the next one is at level 30 and I believe it was Freaks, but it might have been Crey. Hmm, I'm pretty sure it was freaks though.

it is lvl 20, 30, and 40... the remaining missions for the extra slots are pretty easy.... for the lvl 30 slot you need to go to the IP icon for the mission, and i think it is freakshow (don't remember 100% on that one though)... also you can get your auras a lvl 30 (from the same rep in AP that gave you the cape mission) and the aura missions is a LOT easier than the cape mission (kill 15 freak, DE, and rikti) you can find all of them in crey's folly and the cool part is rikti monkeys count as rikti, and the swarm count for the DE so the only real risk (other than the freakshow) is the ambush you WILL get in CF
