Ouch, I certainly hope I won't have to keep recreating my guy to get a face/hairstyle I like (unless you can change that later, but it doesn't seem likely you'll be able to change your face).
I know this is quite shalloe/vain of me, but I'm not sure it's such a good idea to have character creation so far out of the player's hands to be honest :/

After playing a game like CoH it does make it hard to go to another game that doesn't give you those cool options. I enjoy designing how my character looks from the ground up. I also like that no one else will ever look like my character. But if the game is cool enough this shouldn't be to big of a problem... As long as the game is good everything else can be worked around.

I have to agree. I'd sure hate to have to hit the change appearace (or whatever) button 1000 to get a look that I like. But also, the look of my character could be overlooked if the gameplay is good.
That still doesn't excuse the fact that they might not leave it up to us for character looks. With so many other games letting you make your character look just how you want it to, it would possibly give me reason to play something else instead of this.

Im guessing that they either have a massive database of different faces and so forth so that no 2 characters look alike or they are just meanies and dont want us to choose our own faces.

After another look, it seems like this was only true for the old version, the one they scrapped, I think they also scrapped that idea along with it, so we can make our own guys/gals now.
I'll have a hunt for where I saw that, but don't expect it anytime soon, CoV still hasn't lost it's "ooooh, shiny" factor for me.

If they want to make money off this game you will be able to customize. Taking away character customization would be like creating a 2d mmorpg, its not the early 90's anymore.

This is found on the Features page under Game Info so even if your character is randomized at the starting of the game you should still be able to have control over what your character will look like, hey almost half the fun in RPGs is the character creation.
