The easiest place in the game for high-level characters to farm is in Prophet's Path outside Augury Rock in the Desert. There are large numbers of level 20 Minotaurs and level 21 Desert Griffons here, all of which use purely melee physical attacks. The only issue is with the occasional Rockshot Devourer that pops up, which can interrupt your healing, but those can be killed or, with a little effort, avoided. Farming here will make you about 2-3k per 5-10 minute outing, which translates to about 15-20k per hour.
As far as running goes, the Ascalon/Lion's Arch run is fairly bad for profits. It takes about 15 minutes to gather a whole group of 3, then another 15 minutes to do the run, and you can't charge more than 2.5k per person. So, that means that it's 7.5k per half hour, or 15k per hour. Farming is more profitable than any runs before the ToA/Sanctum Cay run.
If you can do the Drok's run, this is just about the most profitable and consistent money source in the game. 15-25 minutes per run, 2.5-4k per person, with 5 person groups, and the occasional significant tip can bring in, if you're lucky, 75k per hour. Unfortunately, this is one of the hardest things to accomplish in the game.
If you want consistent, easy, and reasonably good money from an activity, do griffon farming. Although there are higher-money things available, none are quite that simple to do for long periods of time.

One other place is Nolani Academy . Just go through the gate to Diessa Lowlands . Kill the Flash, Ressurect and Shatter Gargoyle's . Yeah they are low level but they drop items to salvage to get iron granit and hides dyes, gold, granit, scales and signed skulls . Clear the two stone structures full of them . After they are cleared map back to Nolani and do it again . Right now the signed skulls are selling for 100 - 250 depending on who the buyers are . Its Fun doing this farming as a Minion Master just keep raising let them kill and you collect .
DON'T BLOW YOUR TEMPER, BLOW YOUR HORNS.

you could also farm the cave outside droks.
its full of moutain trolls at about lvl 20+
they drop some good stuff and the cave is only 2 mins outside droks to the south-west direction. and the only thing you got to worry about is the avicara. but you can sprint past them.
i used a guide when i first started doing it.

A quick and general note from me.
Farming is wherever and whenever. It depends on how you adjust your skills, strategies, gameplay. It is up to you to decide how to utilize what you have right now, and how much effort you are willing to put into it. You decide where, for how long, what skills you want to use, who you want to bring you, and how you want to go into it. Experiment. Decide for you what works, and what doesn't. And from this, you will become a much better player.

I agree with Mann.
Yes, there are plenty of good farming builds and places to farm that other people tell you about, but where you farm and the way you do it and what build you use is totally up to you. some people like to do things differently to other people.
I personall like to do the prophets path griffon/Minotaur farm in the desert. it doesnt make me huge amounts of money, but it is okay money and it isnt too boring. Gold/Purple drops are quite frequent, about 2 each run i find, and the irridescent griffon wings and minotaur horns are frequent, and offer a quick little bit of money. The rockshot devourers are a pain though! when your fighting a group of 4 griffons and 2 of them pop up, you dont stand much chance, their interrupts can easily kill you.
I'm a w/mo and take 4 healing and 4 attaking skills with me.
:) thats all from me.

I agree with the rest that griffion farming is the easiest consistant way to get gold.
Nice gold drops for sure.
I have several friends that go green farming, but I hate trying to sell stuff.
I'm a runner by trade so I make the real money running the shiverpeaks.
If you want I can show you how to.
Shiverpeaks meaning > warcamp, citadel, copperhammer, iron mines, grotto, and thunderhead keep.
You can pretty much charge alot for grotto, so I usually include all the other towns to make it sound like a good deal.
All those towns @ 15k a head =105k in 40 minutes.
That's my extreme fee though.
I run people normally for tips as money just doesn't seem to be important. I'm probably one of the few money making runners that will live and die with only droks armor :P.

Hit me up in game.
IGN: Ly Rampart
The key to running droks is timing.
Droks runs use to be forgiving, but after the update it has become a pita for many runners.
