Illus Controllerhas been nerfed heavy in issue 2 

The new class change of Phantom Army and Phantasm has drastically decreased the power of the illusion controler. The decoys in PA have had such a drop in damage, that with the 90 percent recovery in 5 seconds they no longer do enough damage to kill even the weakest of minions. A level 30 i know could not kill a couple mobs almost ten levels lower than him after casting both freezing rain and decoy FIVE TIMES. This is a serious problem for the illusion controller. What i think is a good idea is to increase the amount of time the damage sticks to the enemy. maybe to 15-20 secs? This is just my two influence. Cmment here with any other thoughts on the issue two pros and cons and all that jazz.

To be honest. Decoy's were NOT ment to do damage... they are what they are. Decoy's..

So.. they just fixed it to be honest :/ I know you guys dont like it, but thats how it is.

I hate the word nerf. They fixed it if anything. Decoys are meant as a distraction.

yea. what he said. if they were ment to do damage then they'd be called...battle summons...or something. but like he said. the decoy's do what they are designed to do. be decoys. not damage dealers.

yes, i understand totally that they aren't meant to do any damage. But now they do so little they dont do what they are supposed to, be a distraction, grab some aggro here and there. And i apologize for offending with the N word. Im just used to hearing it from my years in EQ. I will no longer use it until i market it as a snack treat.

Now the Illusion controllers have the same prob mind (and most other) controllers have. Great teaming, sucky soloing.

It's just the controller way of like, I guess.

I have a good mix of powers.. just.. I suck at soloing as well

Popcicle has Ice/Empathy powers.... boy.. no damage from that.

I think that the illusion controllers (and the rest of them for that matter) were originally meant to be offensive support rather that attackers. You want damage? Be a scrapper/blaster/tanker. I have a grav/storm controller and I know that soloing is never gonna happen for me.

Like all "nerfs", the only reason people feel they are getting the short end of the stick is because they are losing something they have come to rely on. Now, these Illusion controllers are going to have to find some other way to do dmg output.

As the glass jawed blaster that I am, I thought I would throw my 2 influence in here...

One of the things I REALLY LIKE about CoH is the fact that all the classes are interdependant.

One of the things THAT REALLY FRUSTRATES ME about CoH is the fact that all the classes are interdependant.

The bottom line is that soloing isn't the main focus of CoH. It's doable from time to time, but I have to admit it's damn hard... and I haven't been able to do it consistently.

It's a double edged sword... but I still like the game.


And yeah... the term "Nerf" comes from the idea that MMORPG game devs, when trying to balance game mechanics, replace given weapons/attacks/powers with a nerf weapon... that do virtually no damage. It's become a bad word among gamers ;)

Im an illusion controller and to be honest.. I don't even have that power yet and I have no issues doing damage or fighting solo.

Yes, it is difficult to solo, but not impossible. A controller needs to pick fights carefully and not just plow into battle like a scrapper, but when they are careful, they are devastating.

I'm not sure of any team that cannot see the value of an illusion or mind controller. In my opinion, they have to be one of the most valuable assets in team fighting besides the empathy defenders. Yaaaay goooo suppport classes!! we rock!!

That is why we started talking about people who are one power set and act like another.. (aka crappers and blappers and blankers)

Someday if they let us get to like.. level 200.. I hope we have the ability to pick up other power sets in addition to our current ones!! weeeeee. Then I will become a crapper for real!

(ahem.. for those of you who cannot figure this out.. crapper = controller + scrapper)

Hm ... I had an Illusion COntroller up to level 23 before I switched servers. And guess what, I used them for damage. They were doing triple damage by the time I got that high. Distractions they are bad at because since you cannot point them at what you want them to distract, they sort of roam around and tick everything off .. bad for you when they disappear.

I also soloed with him most of my levels. It really isn't that hard. Blind and Spectral Wounds become your main attacks. I didn't like Deceive or Flash so never used them. Superior Invisibility is a must ... heck I've done missions where I go in, get the things and leave.

I also gave him the Fitness and Fighting pools, as well as Jump Kick. Extra attacks and faster stamina regen helped.

I guess it's all how you play them. I hope they don't mess the Illusion Controller up too much since I'd have to change mine .... BAH!

The power is called frigg'n called phantom army, only when you click the summoned soldier does it say decoy. Most armies just dont "pretend" to do damage. They should really change the name of power to Phantom Decoys

Ok this is going out on a stretch, and showing my true geek nature. Remember the end of LOTR Return of the King. Who saved the day in the end. The frigg'n phantom army that Aragon brings.

I play support almost exclusively, with one scrapper on one server I can say I am truly a support character
