My Rules and tactics to stay alive and kill as much as possible.

For my First post , enjoy .

Here is a list of rules I go by to stay alive and kill and blow as much stuff as I possibly can .

Rule # 1 CARS AND JEEPS : When riding in a car or jeep , don't shoot at tanks . All you do is give up your position . You can't damage tanks with machineguns so don't do it . I play as a support guy . When i finally manage to find a special forces guy I beg him to jump into my vehicle so we can take out all the artillery , radar and UVA trailer in one pass . Nothing gripes my butt more then finally getting to our destination and having the idiot up top fire at a tank with the machinegun . The tank sees us , fires and we are dead . It really kills me when I was on my way to find a hiding spot , letting the tank pass so i can do my dirty work . One last time - DO NOT FIRE AT TANKS !!!! One last thing . When a gunner sees a target and he is firing , stop the car for a short period so he can get a batter well aimed shot for its pretty close to impossible to hit targets at 50 pmh weaving around obstacles and the like . Also if you see a chopper pass by and your sure he doesn't see you wait till he passes by . Turn the car in his heading direction and let your gunner fire away . Quickly press F3 and use the extra machinegun to help him out if it's just the 2 of you in a car or jeep . These rules also apply to boats .

Rule # 2 FLYING HELICOPTERS : When flying a helicopter and you see a tank , line up a shot , nice and steady for the gunner to shoot him with the camera missle . If he misses then you go ahead and fire a bunch of rockets at him to take him out . This way if the camera missle hits you can save a bunch of rockets for later . Don't bother to hover over a flag without UAV . Specially when there are a bunch of your troops about to converge on it . It's just not worth it , they will get the flag anyhow and you will avoid getting killed by stray troops you can't see .

Rule # 3 TANKS : When in a tank and im snagging a flag I press F10 or F11 for a better view of things . Too many times have I been blown up by special forces with c4 standing there waiting for the flag to change . Now I can see them coming a mile away . When I see SF coming
I just drive about 20 yards away , quickly hit F9 and gun him down . I dont really use smoke cept for when I'm getting lazed by Anti tank guys or helicopters . I definitly don't use smoke when capping flags - then I can't see SF coming .

Capping flags : Too many times have I seen people defending the last flag as if it's the last resort to winning the battle . Non-sence ! First thing to do is get the fastest moving car and try to break out of the battle and cap a flag with no troops surrounding it , preferably one of the furthest from the battle . Once the enemy sees a flag has been capped they will send a strike unit out to squash it .Drop some mines and move on . If your special forces drop a bunch of bombs around the flag . If it turns white it's about to be retaken . If your still alive , blast them to bits and recap it - it's worth it if your not too far . Once you cap that flag immediately attack the second weakest flag . Now the main battle is eased , the enemy has no choice to break up and get the other flags and more then likely you will save your main post . If you are a squad leader and you are trying to take a flag that is heavily defended then it is your job to to find a good place to hide near the flag but not too close . Hide and provide your teammates a constant spawn point untill they finish the job . Untill they do keep a look out , call in UAV and spot enemy choppers and tanks , then ground troops . Engineer is a good way to go . Surround the area with mines in case tanks and cars coming looking for you ( you could be under enemy UAV ) . Then you have a shot gun for close quarters .

Nasty stuff :

Planting C4 on jets then hiding in the woods waiting for some poor soul to jump in and take off . Wait like 5 -10 seconds before blowing him up . ( any level )

Jumping into a car as engineer with a driver already in it . Pick the back position and drop mines out the back for tanks while heading to the main post to base rape . Nine times out of ten I get 5 kills - APC full of troops ? lol . ( Strike of Karkand )

I make my own one man squad and I'm Special forces . try to snag the fast atv after a flag is capped . I head directly for thier artillery taking one of the high roads . Once I'm there I goto the Scan unit radar . I place 2 bombs on it and head over to the UAV trailer and place 2 on it . Then I go behind the buildings and head West . Out there is a big depression you can hide in and call for a supply drop .Then I blow up the stuff . Then I place my last bomb to set up a defenseive ambush . I wait for supplies and once I get them I usually can keep thier artillery , radar and UAV trailer out for a long time . Usually I make about 4 full passes befor they catch on or spot me . To save time or if I'm commander myself I predrop in that area . Also I now have the advantage of using the UAV to spot the inevidable egineer fixing everything . ( Dailian Plant ) I use this same tactic on Kubra Dam and Fushe Pass just different areas . Kubra dam - I drop the supplies out near the airfield , close to the hill in this perfect lil depression . Far away from the arty , this way you don't get UAV'ed and spotted .

Getting in a transport helicopter and picking a non gunner position when I'm special forces . It's hard to do but press F10 and F11 if you need it and drop C4 onto tanks from above or just drop them on the road and try to take stuff out . I've only done it twice lol . Some chopper pilots are skilled enough to fly over a tank (with no gunner up top) and stay with in his defilade . What i mean is the tank can only aim up so high . So ther is a relitivley large safe zone up above up that you can hover on matching his movements . I dropped bombs on this one tank and let him have it . It was ........awsome .

Some more tips and tactics :

Anti-Tank Class : If you guys are overun by an enemy tank or helicopters and you are anti-tank class just point the weapon at the tank . He will be " lit up " and his enemy anti-tank warning buzzer will be freaking him out . I do this just to confuse him . I don't bother to fire for I will most likely give up my position , i just track and annoy him . Now more often then not he will back way up , be looking all around frantically and popping smoke like crazy , not concentrating on taking out troops like he was just a few moments ago . Chances are good that when He pops smoke and backs up one of the special forces on your team will rush ahead and slap a few satchles charges on him and blow him up . Engineers might join the fray and drops some mines for him to drive over as well . This is works very well in tigh quaters and you are on a roof , just waiting to do this very tactic IE Strike of Karkand level .

Engineer : Ok so once again your main base got over run and all your artillery , UAV trailer and radar are blown up with a few scattered troops trying to hold your team off from getting your base back . Best thing to do is find a fast car and drive to your main base . You can fix all the arty and stuff without getting out of your vehicle .All you have to do is get near the stuff you need to fix and park next to it . So all I do is simply avoid contact and try to park next to anything I need to fix . I try to park with the best cover and try to hide as best as I can . I don't want to fire at any troops cept for an antitank unit , they will blow up you in your car in one shot . As I'm waiting for stuff to get fixed while parking I call for support and more important I call for a UAV in the area before I even get there . More often then not the UAV is already being used somewhere so call for it in adavance . This will also alert troops in your area that the main base has been overrun - sometimes people just don't notice . Anyhow usually a few straglers will come over to help and sometimes you get a whole squad that sees your accomplishment and sees it fit to give you a hand . One last thing . I only park next to the stuff I'm fixing just long enough to fix it then move on . As long as it's fixed it will work . I move on to the other stuff and only then when the coast is clear and the area is totaly secure then I return and fix everything to 100% .

Special Forces : I really don't use this tactic too much but it can certainly help in certain situations and better yet it's just fun to do . Find a fast car , the lil buggy thing and place all of your stachle charges on it . They will stick to it - now you are a fast moving suicide bomber . Make sure you have your finger on the trigger ready to detonate the bombs as soon as you get out of the buggy . Here is where it gets nasty . You can drive at high speeds right into tanks , an enemy supply box surrounded by troops resupplying and just about any enemy target and just before you make contact you exit and hit the trigger blowing up all the bombs , yourself and any poor shmuck within 20 feet of you . My highest once was a rediculous 10 kills - got an award for that one . I think it was valore .

Sniper : I rarely play as a sniper but I found out a few good things to do as one .Get up into high towers and as a squad leader you provide a constant spawn point not too far away from a flag in case it gets overrun . Then if the flag get over run you just call your troops to attck that area or spawn on you and spot enemy targets and provide cover fire knocking out primary targets like Anti tank troops camping for tanks or Special forces who just dropped a bunch of bombs to hold that area . Meanwhile you can just observe the area and keep a sharp eye out for choppers and jets calling then in so team players can see them on the radar .

Medic : Medic is pretty simple . Just stick around your troops and and constantly drop health packs around your team members . In no time you will unlock the better assault rifle that has a scope and much better accuracy . When in a vehicle you will also heal any team members in that vehicle and round up big points .

Support :

Support class is pretty much like medic , drop ammo everywhere and help kill troops . Thing is is that the saw is worthless beyond 30 feet basically . The only thing I have to offer in the way of tactics is this . If your a squad leader and you have a car full of Special Forces then your on your way to base rape . You pull up to the artillery and watch your Special forces go to take it out . As they are busy pre drop bags on the ground then hop back into your car and provide cover . This way as soon as they pick up a bag they have 100% ammo . This is better then them jumping back into the car or standing next to you waiting to fill up on ammo witch take much longer - troops standing next to you refill on ammo but in increments . Bags give full ammo instantly . Only thing to watch out for is your bag meter . Too many times have I been too hasty in dropping bags , the meter runs dry and auto switches to your next weapon - the hand grenade . By mistake I toss a hand grenade , right in front of like 5 troops trying to pick up the ammo I just put down for them . They all die and I get kicked for mass teamkills lol . Be careful .

More on the origion post . Ramdom specific tactics .

On my way to base rape I take out the UAV trailer and scan radar first then the artilllery . This way I can go re-supply without getting UAVed or scanned . I re-supply and then head over to the artillery . If there are 3 pieces I place 2 bombs on 2 pieces and 1 on the last piece . Then I head back to the re-supply point BEFORE I blow up the artillery . This way I'm totaly hidden and for sure the engineer will be looking in the direction of the artillery . Then while he's busy fixing the artillery I head on over back to the UAV trailer ( if the coast is clear ) and take it and the scan radar out once again and return to re-supply . I continue this prosses over and over and deny the enemy everything they need to fight . Point A point B - easy as pie . Once you keep doing this you will find the best routs to take , the ones with the flatest ground , the quikest way , with no obstructions with the best cover and concealment - silent and deadly .If things go well I can get about 3 or 4 good passes and rack up about 25-30 alone . One more last thing I forgot to mention . Again it's best not to fire the machine gun while your doing this . For one thing you attract attention and secondly its pretty hard to hit targets moving so fast anyhow . It's best just to avoid vehicles and runover the troops . I see base raping as an art lol .

Bridges : OMHO the only bridge that matters in all the maps is the one on , you gussed it it , Strik on Karkand map size 30 - where just a little bit of the enemy base is used for the battle field . If your stuck on MEC team defnse is a must for that the whole point of this map is to defend the uanslaught .For the most part everyone is up front fighting the big mass of troops . If no one is defending the base I become a one man defense team .I spawn on the other side of the bridge set 3 satchle charges on the far side of the bridge and blow it up along with myself . Now the enemy hast only one way in - due south through the water . I respawn at the main base as engineer and mine the only way in . I make 2 sets or waves of mines in case 2 cars come . I hide behind the shed just near it and see if anyone gets through and if they do i call them in . I also call right away for a sup drop so I can replenish mines .

Random Tip : If your driving a tank and there are so many mines that you can't get through just simply back up enough to aim at them and blast them with a tank round . They will blow up - move on through .

Random Tip :Having trouble with special forces blowing up all your stuff ? Go sniper and plant a claymore near your artillery or what ever . Find a good observation post and camp . If you miss with your rifle your mine won't .

Commander : Commander is a little confusing at first so read up on the manual to brush up on the basics . Beyond that I have a few tips indetail . First thing that comes to mind is dropping supplies .

Supplies : As a squad leader you can call in for a supply drop . An icon appears in the map . The commander can right click and say accept and the supplies will drop . More often then not the supplies drop in a bad place . They drop out in the open , on top of a roof no one can get to , in the middle of the road where an enemy tank can use . This is not good . Best way to drop supplies is to zoom in all the way , to the point that you can literally see people walking around . This way you can pick the best spot that has the best cover . Place supplies behind buildings , on top of roofs that have a few snipers for example . Anywhere the supplies can be dropped safely and not be destroyed and provide good cover so troops dont get killed re-supplying is fine . Another thing about supplies is that they drop in by parachute and tend to drift about 1-2 inches north on screen so sometimes it's hard to drop exactly where you want them to land and takes a bit of practice . And this is why I think of supplies first , most of the time I'm on a roof top with a ton of troops and we all need supplies . I call them in and sure enough the supplies drop but drop onto the ground below us . Now we have to get off the roof , re-supply and then get back on the roof again . Most of the time the ladder to this roof is a tall one and afer getting supplies and I returm to the roof I get shot as I'm climbing back up again -fail- Last thing about dropping supplies is that they can kill you . If the supplies land on top of you you get crushed . I actually got kicked for this . So becareful and hope the noObs have the smarts to stop firing for a few seconds , look skyward and make sure HE dosen't get crushed . Other wise you might wind up looking at a loading screen going wtf ???

Artillery : Artillery is easy . Drop it on the enemy . But once again I can't stress enough that you zoom all the way in . Before dropping "Arty" as we call it take a look around . See if the troops are camping wich happens alot . See if they are supported by a supply drop and let them hav it . Again like supplies arty tends to drift up a bit so place it down a bit and let them fall where they will - a bit up . Sometimes I can't sesist calling atry close to my troops because they are certain to get overrun . Give them a quick warning so they can back up , let the bombs fall then they can move back in and sweep up . But this rarly happens becuase of the noob factor . Arty is clearly marked on the upper right map you have and people tend to not notice at all . Next thing you know an APC full of troops is under your arty , you kill them all and once again your looking at a blck and white " You got kicked for ecsessive teamkilling screen " . Most of the people who do this are what I call straglers .People who refuse to join squads and basically have no idea whats going on . Since they aren't in a squad they won't hear the " Artillery , your area " warning if you give that squad one . So they walk directly right into it and punish you for it . So try to be as careful as possible . One last thing about arty is it takes a while to fall , about 5 -7 seconds before it actually hits the ground from the time you fire it .So you might have to judge where troops will end up in 5 seconds ahead of time to nail them .

UAV : The UAV is used to highlite the enemy in a particular area and lasts for about 20 seconds . I usualy use the scan before dropping a uav . This was I can asses the situation and place the uav where it is needed most . If I see an stragler about to snag a flag from me and there are a bunch of troops not too far away I'll place it there to alert them . Other then that I usually just place it on the biggest mass of enemy troops or place it on the last standing flag that we hold and any other emergency that happens . In general its a good idea to spot stray targets that are outside the uav like jets , helicopters , and tanks . It helps when you alert oncoming troops and gets peoples attention and hopefully they are smart enough to check thier map and see them coming to set up and ambush .

Stationary Commander : In some maps it's best to just stay put and do your job . Like in the saftey of a battleship or inside a building . I usually use sniper class and set up claymores to protect me but once again so noob will run right into them and punish you for it so be careful . No matter where you die you can be found so keep an eye on your position from time to time . Make sure your zoomed all the way out and do a scan . Then spot any threats and alert surrounding team members or take the threat out yourself .

Roving Commander : A roving commander is one who actually fights on the battle field . The only time I do this to great effect is when I'm out there doing my magic of taking out thier artillery and stuff using the supplies and UAV . More often then not if you jump into tanks and helicopters you will have kick votes against you . Just ignore it . I have never seen a sucssesful kick vote commander ever . But as a general unwritten rule commander shouldn't be flying . The only time I ever do is when the enemy has no chance of winning and I get lucky enough to jump in an attack chopper and have some fun at the last few minutes of fighting . Another warning is dont get into a tank and sit there commanding . No dout you will piss a lot of people off and before too long a special dorces will come along and teamkill you so they can get the tank when it respawns . So if your in a tank you better use it or run the risk of getting assasinated .

Squad Leader : I usualy make my own custom squad and give it an appealing name like Covert ops or Base Rape . This way I kind of give a cause to my platoon . The best way to handle a squad is to see who is what player class and asses what class you should be to best support it . For instance , if you want to base rape and 2 special forces join your team then you should pick the support class . This way you have ammo for them and you can base rape all the artillery , UAV trailer and scan radar without having to rely on a suplly drop or even waiting to re-supply at a drop sight . You can be highly moblie and be self sufficiant . If you have a support guy and special forces on your squad them you should ge medic class to heal and revive the wounded to last longer in battle . As squad leader you can give out orders such as destroying targets and attacking certain areas . I believe you get points for doing this and when your squad accomplishes the tasks they get points as well so teamwork prevails . In general it is best to be support class though because most of your team will be attck units , so you can be the support as support class or medic . This is find works best .

Squad member : As a squad member I try my best to be most effective . Just like the squad leader I will check the status of my squad to see what position I will be most effective . Once again if there are 2 special forces , an Engineer and a support guy on the squad and we don't have a medic I'll go medic to maximise the effectiveness of my squad . If we need an engineer I'll pick that class . If the coast is clear and there is a severe need for a class to help out with an ambush I'll commit suicide and respawn as the needed class , like Anti-tank . For example if I was a medic and helped out in a complete base rape where we took out all the artillery and stuff and managed to take the mian base flag . We know for sure enemy units will try to take it back . I'll check the area and if I see a bunch of stragler Medics then Ill kill myself and go engineer to defend say the only way into that area . Or go anti tank if a tank is called in as my respawn counter is counting down . Anything that will help best .

APC : Nothing is better for base raping then the APC . It is fast , carries 5 troops including yourslef and the turret spins very fast . It also has smoke and anti tank wepaons . What more could you ask for ? This is usualy not my prefered vehicle for base raping becuase it is not as fast as the jeeps and cars but it can take apouding and keep going . The turret spins fast so it's great for taking out ground troops all around you . You can use the anti tank weapon to take out enemy jeeps in one shot . Used right the APC can have a base overrun and destroyed within 2 minutes . What would be best is as you are in the main base swing buy any of the things you need to blow up ( UAV trailer , Arty , Scan ) and hopefully the Spec Forces will jump out and blow it up causing a diversion . Then head strait to the flag and take it . Then follow up with base raping finish . Then everyone can pile in after mining the place and snag more flags or stay put and keep all of the enemy resorcses down and out .

Tip for the nOObs : Just like your Mommy told you when you were a kid - " Now Timmy , look both ways before you cross the street " . Same applies here . I see people run directly into oncoming traffic daily . I run people over who run directly into my path at full speed . I get kicked daily because of it . I think some people do it just to get people kicked all day . If you haven't noticed the brakes aren't very good in this game . So before you go jutting out into the street , or haul ass around a blind corner think for a second , slow down and make sure the coast is clear . And one last secondary tip . If you are in a tank in a gunner position , or a car for instance and you hit exit vehicle button you will get run over most of the time . So don't do it . And if you do don't punish the driver for it . It's your stupid mistake so hold the nOOb factor aside and choose to forgive . Or I'll find you on-line and and snipe you in the face

Random tip : This one I really shouldn't give away but oh well . Strike on Karkand level . Snag the tank if you can and head for the first flag . make the first hard left turn and pop smoke . Then make a quick right and move up about 20 feet or so . Turn your turret to the right and face in the direction of the flag . There are 2 allyways , one is big\oval and you can see through it to look directly at the flag . That is where troops spawn . Then just right of it and back a bit is another spawn point . Back up untill you can see down the ally way , this is another spawn point . From there you can see down another allyway across the street . That is also another spawn point . This is most important - keep your tank perfectly parrallel to the street . All you have to do is cover these spawn areas that are very close together and moe troops down as they spawn . Blast a tank round against the tigh wall areas and get mass kills . If your not one already , make yourself a squad leader and call for a supply drop behind you away from the battle just in case you get hit . Best thing about this is all of the people who spawn in these points do so with thier back facing towards you . They don't even have the chance to turn and fire as you moe them down . Last night I got 54 tank kills with my highest score ever of 88 . Give it a try .

Sniper tip : So many times do I see people who are surrounded by thier won flags AND troops and mines the ladder they just took to get to thier sniper position . Think about it for a second . Your surrounded by freindlies . All of the flags surrounding you are yours . So there is no need to put a mine ( claymore ) there at all . You ruin the position for other who want to support you . Also what if you run out of ammo ? How can they get up there to help you out ? If your not too much of a nOOb and realise that people are trying to get up there with you toss a grenade at the claymore and it will blowup . Now they can climb safely up the ladder . Only time you should really be setting mines is when you are totally alone .

Pack picking : If you are low on heath , ammo or an emergency situation arrives then check out some of the packs on the ground . Situation : Your a sniper or medic let's say and an enemy tank is coming and he's killing troops left and right . You can't do any damage to him as a sniper or medic but you can pick that engieer or Anti-tank unit pack off the ground and quickly switch classes and take him down . Then you can pick your sniper pack up again and continue your origional objective . Keep in mind though when you drop a pack it only stays on the ground for so long . I think about 15-20 seconds so be quick in retrieving it .

RE: My Rules and tactics to stay alive and kill as much as possible.

Another tactic I talked about but now have tried myslef .
I now call it tank tracking . Tank tracking is hovering over a tank , matching it's movements to stay directly above it . This way an engineer or special forces can drop either anti-tank mines or satchle charges to kill the tank . This takes practice but it can be done and man is it most rewarding lol . First off remember that the tank can only aim up so high . So there is a relitively large " safe cone " above the tank , you can get away with more then you think so don't be too scared . Second , and this is hard to find , you need an Engineer or a Special Forces guy to be smart enough to press F4 to hang off the side , then press F10 to get a better view of things . This goes for the chooper pilot as well , press F10 to do this for it's the only way you can see the tanks next move . It's best to approach the tank from the back , then press f10 and tilt back and drop in . Find the "sweat" spot ( not too low , not too high , directly above . Supirsingly it is hard to do at first but when you get the hang of it it rocks . What I also do is get on a game where you don't have many players like an 16 player map . Jump in and simply practice tracking on your friendlies . After a while you will know\get the feel of the tanks tolerances in speed and agility and tracking will become second hand .

Side tip : As an Engineer you should be hanging out of the chopper to drop mines anyhow . I get tons of kills this way . If im in a chopper and we are hovering to snag a flag that is the enemies I drop mines . Most of the time before we can change the flag the pilot hauls ass when we take a few hits . But I laugh when we are on our way back to base to re-supply and I get 2 kills from the unobservant nOObs .
And don't forget to hang out the back of cars too .

RE: My Rules and tactics to stay alive and kill as much as possible.

Rondom tip : I just played for hours today and I was base raping as usual . I made about 15 passes without dieing lol . There was this Engineer who was fixing the stuff I was blowing up . I wait for him to fix the stuff so I can get points by blowing it up again , and I'm watching him .
I can see he planted mines all around the scan radar . But he planted them incorrectly . Not only did I see him plant them but I can Clearly see them as Im heading to the scan radar . The tarmac is white in color so mines show up real good before you even get close to it lol . All I had to do is simply park further away , jump out , plant my stuff , blow it AND the mines up and I'm on my way . So here's the tip . If you are going to bother placing mines , place them on the grass , or other dark textures around your base . Place mines behind building or routs that have cover . After fixing stuff , hide and observe the special forces coming and try to understasnd the routs he takes to infiltrate your base . If there is a supply drop fixing your stuff place a mine near it even if it's on the white tarmac . Usually I see ( and do myself ) people run into the supply drop box to destroy it , then hop out and blow up the radar or what ever .
Sometimes when I cant seem to nilify the Special forces coming to the base I do this . Go enginner and dump mines as needed . Then kill myself and go sniper . Set claymores on the stuff and find a good observation point to snipe them if I can . Another good idea is to go special forces and place bombs near , but not too close , to your stuff and take them out that way , the M4 is also better to take down a few targets with one clip .

Anybody else have any good ideas hook this thread up yo .

jumping out of choppers and dropping a line of c4 on an enemy convoy on the way down... freaking priceless.
