Do you have to be a subscriber to Lineage 2 to be in the Chronicle 4 public test?

Well, I bought the game the other day, installed it, downloaded the updates but I have yet to make an account and start playing.
I am confused about the whold chronicle 4 thing. Perhaps someone could explain it to me? Are the chronicles like expansions? And if so, how do you play 1 - 3 or are they just there all the time now?

Well basically Lineage 2 newest chronicle is 4....
Before this there was Chronicles 1, 2, and then 3...
Most servers play on Chronicles 3 as 4 is relatively new and will take time before they update to that chronicle...
With new chronicles come new options in the game, as well as new classes(sometimes), basically the game upgrades. New weapons, new powers for characters and other things, and of course better graphics and so on... You get the point...
As you know they are certain heroes that are very good in Players VS Player combat. In each chronicles the abillity of characters change and new (best PVP characters) emerge.
Example:
1)People say in Chronicles 1, Dark Avengers were overpowered, because they're shield stun always worked on anyone.

2) In Chronicles 2 people said that Treasure Hunters and
Silver Rangers were overpowered... so the makers of the
game again made some changes so that characters are a
bit more equal in Chronicles 3.
3) Now in chronicles 3 people complain that mages like
Spellsingers, Overlords, Necromancers and others
are overpowered.
>> So I am guessing that in chronicles 4 the game makers
will do something about that... in order to make
different characters better... people say that
archers will once again will dominate Lineage in
chronicles 4
PS: I worry about chronicles 4 as I have a Spellsinger and
an Overlord and I use them very often...
But I do also have a Silver Ranger :))

I'm gonna have the game in about a month now, so i guess i need to get researching about his game a bit more.
my best guess is that this is one of the biggest MMO's ever.
