Beast Masters 

What i want to see in the update is more options for beast masters like myself...or should i say " smarter pets "

I hate the fact that i actually have to attack someone for my pet to...they should go on called targets if your actually atacking or not.

Although at time pets will attack on their own...i have found it being a beast master myself that this does not happen to often.

Also it would be nice when my pet is being attacked...for him to wake up and fight back rather then standing there waiting for me to attack the guy.

Also there should be more options for pets. And somewhat of a pet interface.

Such as being able to see your pets current exp and when he will level. A more detailed description on the skills as he is doing them....

Cuz all i do is click the skill but half the time it doesnt go through and there is no way of me telling that it is rather then the little animated glow he gets around him...maybe like a skill monitor for your pets.

Also i would love to see some armor for my pets..that would be the best of all...and maybe an option for them to hold a few items ?

So bassically i want to see pet improvments...i feel beast masters are underlooked.

What i want to see in short:

Pet Armor
Pet storage (few extra item slots) <-- idea dont care about
Pet monitor (exp and how close to leveling he is)
Pet Skill Monitor (more detailed skill monitor for pets)
Attack On Call (even if i dont attack teh foe..calling it should be enough)
Attack when being attacked

And also of course MORE pets.

what do you guys think

i like the idea of armor for pets, i think thier should be upgrades for pets like for an example:u have a wolf and he has regular claws, then u found a item called "laser claws" u equip it to ur pet and he dose more dmg and his claws will be like light sabers.

i would also like to see skills for pets instaed just casting them for u

Pet armor, ever seen a pet with pants and helmet?

Sorry, this will prolly never come.

Calls will eventually, but no armor and storage.

Now that beast masters and trappers always use staves or one handed wands or whatever. I think Anet should implement some staves for beast masters and trappers with requirements from the other attributes. They could include benefits like the normal ones,

"improves skill recharge using beast master skills"
"Pet Health +30"

These things wouldn't be of any use to anything else, but it would be nice if Anet put more thought into the beast masters, instead of giving them nothing.

um actually i have seen pets with pants and helmets...ever seen a dog ina sweater ? hmm think before you post.

it would be very easy to design " lynx or bear " helmet
or even a small body armor to through over his torso.

As for the backback...you cant see a animal as big as a bear with some sort of pack ? i recall horses, donkeys, camels ect haveing some sort of bag to carry items..why not a 5 slot storage for your pet ?

dont say " how is a dog gonna cary 5 swords " cuz answer this " how is a human gonna carry 20 hammers? and still be able to run and wield a shield and sword? "

Nothing i have put up there is " too much " and is all very possible.

IWAY ? im talking about beast masters here not iway builds or trappers.

I agree with silverstein

they should include some weapons for beast mastery...they have them for everythign els...as far as being useless to everyone els....how useful is a staff/rod that req divine and has divine mods to anyone but a monk ? they have their own so should we lol :D

Think of something a Knight's Horse would wear.

I am in no way an avid beast master. It's just that Anet threw them in there with nothing. Sure you can change their name, but that's the only personalization you can do with them. As for packs, our characters don't actually wear a belt pouch, or backpack.

Mountain rescue dogs have backpaks and thermal clothing. (+15 vs Cold damage attacks :p)

Well i don't like the idea of controlling your pets directly and your pets do attack the target if you call it. They don't just run off and attack random people i know that since i have a BM ranger. As for pet armor, the idea is ok i just don't want it to be a drop item since i don't want prices to go up even more due to another overfarmed item.

Actually they DO NOT attack targets if you JUST CALL THEM the only way they will attack a called target is if your calling it AS YOUR ATTACKING IT...try equiping NO WEAPON stand just outside the bubble or even a little inside and hold SHIFT CTR and press SPACE your pet will stand there looking like an idiot.

Another way he will attack a called target is SOMETIMES if the target is already attacking you.

I never and neither has anyone else asked or mentioned random attacking..i said attack if he is being attacked and when i call targets without attacking the enemy.

If you manage to get your pet to attack without attacking the enemy just CALLING THE TARGET and without him attacking you then you must have some special in game talents cuz myself and many of my guild members have BM's and for some reason this only seems to work for you ????


Also why would armor be dropped ?? can you find any of your armor droped ? if they DID make armor for pets it would be crafted like all other armor.

So please if you can somehow share your magic way of making your pet attack by SOLEY CALLING TARGETS with no attacking or you being attacked share your secret.

yeah guys, i really like the sounds of amor and backpacks and stuff, weapons would be soo cool. I believe in this motion as i have just started a second ranger to specifically be a beast master. And you're right, we get nothing, and having to attack targets before pet does is the most annoying thing every created. Well done for bringing this to the front of peoples minds......or at least to he forums.

lol, it could be an elite skill in GWF or something, it could be called

"The Best Master"

control 2+....7 pets (or something), all pets have +5 dmg.

(attribute : beast mastery)


It would basically be the elite version of "charm animal"

But if you only upgrade the speed a little it would be like
sprint. And also they could make it so you can use this with certain beasts (moa birds or bears. Then make it so that the hp you have and damage you inflict is soley based off your pets stats and not yours. This would make a beast master ranger a decent runner and add an intresting new play mechanic.

Thank you slye. I got the idea from an old game called monter rancher where you could roam dungeons on the back of your monster. I thought people would critisize me but I have at least 1 fan of the idea yay.

i love the idea of rideing on ur pet but u should be able to attack to "like in dynasty warriors" and maby thier should be a skill to fuse ur pet with something"like a giant slab fused into ur wolf=stone wolf, armor+50,reduces dmg,4+ dmg.,20armor against melle and 15+ armor against thunder attacks and arrows but attacks 10% slower" that would be awesome, that way ur pet have some avantages over u

Ok lets not get carried away I didnt mean anybody who owns a pet gets a free party member that doesnt take up a slot. I still would like them to be little assistants but just assist in more things.

and if u combine like a necro staff ur pet will turn into a necro pet

NECRO PET:fused with, any necro weapon...the effect will add -2 health regeneration,steals 10 health,-20armor against holy dmg,+10armor against water and earth attacks,when it dies:foes in the area becomes poison for 60 sec,makes undead foes into allies one by one every 5 sec
SKILLS;dark glare"makes foes stand still for 5-8 sec"dark explosion"sacrofice 50% health to deal 100 dark dmg to all foes in the area"

THUNDER PET: any eletric weapon...moves and attacks 35% faster, deals dmg to all adjianet fose and adjianet to them, has 10% armor penertraion,it heals when struck by water dmg,when hit by meele it deals 10 dmg to the foe
SKILLS:THUNDER TOUCH,THUNDER STRIKE

FIRE PET:any fire wands or staffs...moves and attacks 10%faster,deals fire dmg,-30armor against water dmg,makes all allies attacks into fire dmg,+5armor against thunder and earth dmg,when hit my meele: the attacker becomes on fire for 3 sec,when it dies:it makes 2 FIRE PET but halve the lv
SKILLS: flame dome"deals 30dmg to all foes in the area and caught on fire foe 10 sec"eternal flame"increase health by 100"

STONE PET:any earth wands or staffs...attacks 10% slower,+25 armor against meele and arrows dmg,-10 armor against elem attacks,reduces dmg,+10%blunt dmg

SKILLS:ward against meele,ward against harm

I don't think it's a statistical wish, more of an aesthetic one... All pets, of the same species, look identical... The crafted Armor and then the ability to dye your pet's armor, would give your pet a little more individuality... and make it look ferocious!! o.O

Fusion Pets: It's a novel idea, but the reason I would like a Beast Master weapon, is to avoid having to share and reduce attribute points, so I can get the full benefit of my Weappon...

Say I go max BM, I can get 12 points in one other thing, I usually like a little Wilderness for Troll, my lowest requirement Bow is 8, and I also like to have something in Expertise.

It just seems, there's no workable "pure" Beast Master build... A fusion pet, would mean I then need to put 8 points into another set of secondary attributes for the chosen weapon type.

-

And to add, I know my Pet becomes my weapon, but I can't get the damn thing to attack, unless I actually attack it myself, with an equipped weapon - quickly becoming the target of my enemy.

All my protection and symbiotic skills, become wasted, because I'm the one taking the hits.

Well it may be workable but not as you put it. Sorry :)

First off, those would be more powerful than any player. 60 seconds of poison? Sheesh, I feel sorry for whoever is around when that happens :)

However, it may be more doable if it were instead using a skill/item to "power-up" your pet. Basically a small boost that would have the cost equal to the strength of it, generally. So if the pet gained poison attacks, for example, it could last, say - 10 seconds with a level 8 BM. It would cost say, 10 energy and recharge in 45. Or, they could have a 'Stoneskin' type skill. Raise the armor of the pet, perhaps slow it down. The only problem with using items for it though would mean it would be rather costly. But then again, you could do it like an item attainable from doing a quest that enables the skill - too many possibilities. Something to run with, ya know?

To avoid another short flaming match, I did some testing with my ranger as a Beast Master(16 in BM).
1) Your pet will not attack a Ctrl+Shift+Space'd target
2) Your pet will not attack ranged foes attacking you or it, on their own
3) Your pet will not attack casters casting spells at you or it, on their own
4) Your pet will attack any melee foe that attacks you or it, on its own

Basically, your pet will only attack melee foes on its own, you cannot target a foe for it to attack without attacking it first(special case: use a skill like Troll Unguent and while its casting hit Space twice in quick succession and your pet will move to attack selected target).

Thanks you GW-Ranger for actually testing these out and confirming what i have been saying.

As for a few things:

I dont think a " mounted pet " would be a good idea.
i dont know why...i just personally wouldnt want one and think it would ruin alot of things in some way or another.

Pet weapons: I dont think it would be a bad idea for the tamer (you and i) to have a weapon for beast mastery...but your pet having one is going to far...thats what the skills are for...we are not creating a tank...it is still a pet.

Pet Armor: you guys are getting me wrong...as one person pointed out they already have a great armor def. But i am not satisfied with just changing the names. I meant something cheap like maybe MAX +10 armor... If they were to make armor id like to see them to reduce the default on the pets. Mostly just something to throw them into their own look, with armor dyed and such.

Pet monitor: What i mean by this..is when you press H you have your exp monitor and all that other lovely stuff...maybe for rangers first and secondary to add something under yours that simply says:

Pet
<======Exp======>

thats all i want lol. Just so i can stop guessing how much exp my pets have or when they will level.

As for having multiple pets....nooooooooo. I only want one at a time...maybe some sort of storage for pets ?

This way you can have 3 lvl 20 pets...and go to the storage and choose which one you want to use at any time...rather then giving him away for free to tamer and starting off with a lvl 5 pet everytime.

Anyways just my opinion
