| Character Transfer possible? |

|
Is there a way to transfer a toon from one server to another...I have toons I like on servers I never go to and most of mine are on Champion or Pinnacle.

To my knowledge the only character transfer is between live and test server...sorry :(
It would be nice to be able to transfer though, i to have the same problem as you
Pinnacle (My server of love)
Geo Wizard: Lvl 50 Earth/Kin With Speed Boost and Stamina yay. Not to mention kick butt holds. Including Volcanic Gases, hehe. And now with his own moronic Animated Stone. And Transference!!! New and improved, 3 lvls in one day, adding to his arsenal Fulcrum Shift..oh yea. Can't wait to get some time under his belt now. I can now hurl Boulders....omfg no he didn't :) I look so pimp in my newest power...its brown and bumpy all over..can you guess?... Thats right is Stone Armor and it is kick butt. Fissure rocks my world! Fifty soon. Fifty on 12-10-2005 at 12:35am after 400hrs of hard labor Wanna throw a special shout out to Illusion Mastor, CBail, Mudpuppy, Jupiter Sweets, Dark Hollow, Lethal Fury, Pan, Majin Tank, Lotus of Death, and all the others i know I am forgetting for their help. And also to all the gameampers here at gameamp whom without I would never have made it.

I actually sent an email request about this a few months back and the responce was a negative. They said they will not transfer between servers or accounts.
It would be nice if they could. But think of all the requests they would get for that. Would be kindof a pain for them. I know they'd have plenty of requests from me. :)

I too have been waiting for this capability for quite a while. It comes up on the 'other' forum quite often, and States and crew have responded a couple of different times as well.
It seems as though it is planned, and the EU server transfer was a step towards that end, but it is still a ways off. Most of the work required will be on the UI that will need to address duplicate names, and what to do about them, etc.
I belive they said it would be implemented: soon™.

It really should be implemented. There are various MMO's with it. WoW for example. It would be great if it was possible.

THey should just make it a once per player then...I'd just move my Healer to Champion and be done with it :)
Or I'd move all my toons to Pinnacle LOL.

Well you know how hard can it really be to transfer toons from one server to another, the base workout for it is already done to transfer toons to the Training Room.
But, I have to agree it would be cool to move all my characters from justice that i have there to Pinnacle, cause yeah it would be great :)

In theory it could be as simple as extracting data from one database and inserting it into another on the target server, at least you would think (adjusting for things like being part of a supergroup that exists on one server but not another).

I know just where your coming from. They totally should implement something so that you can transfer characters to other servers.
I used to have THIS char on my BF's account and when i got my own copy of the game for Christmas, I had to erase my old Puzzle Piece and make a new one. Good thing there are two computers with CoH on them in my house or I might not have gotten my name back.
Other online games allow you to transfer chars (for actual money sometimes, mind you), CoH should too!

Like I have seen many people say the biggest problem will be that your character name may already be taken when you get to the new server.

So- if we can now transfer influence from the live to the test server, does that mean that we can indirectly transfer influence between servers? :) That way, I can make my tiny litte alts od Champion rich?

I would say no, because there still is no transfer back to the live server. You can transfer and copy your character to the test server, but you can't copy the character back to live. So there would be no way of getting the money back to the poor on the other server.
