RE: graphics card

Well from my experience and my friends, we have always trusted Newegg to buy computer stuff. They have good prices, helpful reviews and shipping wont cost you an arm and a leg.

RE: graphics card

I recently purchased an NVidia Geforce 6800 128Meg card that works GREAT. It's an inexpensive card and works wonderfully. I do get some local slowdown when there's a real lot going on on the screen, but for the most part, it's smooth sailing.

RE: graphics card

I'm still running a Nvidia GeForce FX 5700LE, 128mb. I'm still playing with little to no lag. It just seems that I have to have the pc on for a bit before i start to play (usually where my biggest lag comes from. Once it all warms up, i'm playing just fine.

RE: graphics card

Let me make one suggestion, if you're going to buy a brand new card with the specific intent of playing CoH, you might want to avoid ATI and go with something from the NVidia family.

RE: graphics card

Yeah I agree. I current;y have a 9600 PRo 256 card, and it runs really bad for CoV. It lags a little bit, but it's just, not good. I definately wouldn't have spent 30 bucks on a 9000+ card tho.

RE: graphics card

Yeah. I'm not putting down ATI cards by any means. I've been an ATI guy since the generation 1 All-In-Wonder came out many moons ago. However, CoV and CoH were designed around NVidia's chipset and it almost seems like ATI was an afterthought to them. So if you primarily use a PC for CoV and CoH, like I do, then stick to NVidia based cards.

I built my current computer with all the parts from Newegg.com. Some of the lowest prices out there. Never had any problem with any part and if there is a problem, their RMA service is a smooth process from what the reviews say. Fast and inexpensive delivery. I obviously would recommend them.

I agree with Ron on this one, even though I currently run a ATI AIW Radeon 9800 PRO, that CoH/CoV was built around Nvidia and since the CoV beta there has been some issues with ATI cards. I don't have any problems with framerates/lag unless there's a huge battle, also that flame shield that peeps can buff you with tends to worsen the lag too.

My current computer specs FYI:
Intel P4 2.8C OC to 3.02
Abit IC7-MAX3 motherboard
1024 MB Corsair XMS Pro LED RAM
ATI AIW Radeon 9800 PRO
Creative Sound Blaster Audigy Gamer
LiteOn CD burner
Sony DVD burner
All this stuffed in a Thermaltake Xaser III all aluminum case with 7 fans plus controller and a Thermaltake 420 watt Silent Pure Power supply.

The whole system cost me about $1700 about 2 years ago. I've already built my next system on paper which will cost about $2200 with all the latest technologies, I just need approval from my wife to buy it! Probably won't happen since we got a baby due March 24!

Along with a Broadband connection, my game runs pretty smoothly.

My advice, do your research and check the return policies of the vendor you buy from. I've heard many stories where parts arrive inoperable or fail shortly after initial start up of your system. So buy all your parts at once if you can, that way you can return them if needed, some vendors only have a 15 day return policy!

Anyway, Good Luck with your purchase!

No idea. Maybe you timed out when you were attempting to post it? Aside from this post, I don't see another by you.

I'll check it when I get home, I'm still at work. I think I run it at 1600 x 1200, which is my monitors' native resolution. I forgot to mention in my previous post that I have a Samsung 21.3" LCD monitor.

[EDIT]

Well, I was wrong, I run my game resolution @ 1280 x 1024, but I have all the advanced graphics setting set high to very high. Plus, the menus and icons are too small at the higher resolution. I keep my desktop at 1600x1200.

I went to a couple stores lookin for some graphic card that would work and cheap and in the stores the one i got was on sale for $102.00. And like i am going 2 spend that much on a graphic card that is somewhat dated. By the way, i looked on some other popular mmo games and the ati got is just right. I wasnt looking for anything that is the cutting edge just something that would work + 2 free games. $102 compared to $30 is a good price for when i bought it. Everything else that was a 9000 or above was like $50+ when i look 4 graphic cards and thiings that cost some cash dare i say it but i can get "thrifty." Runs smooth on coh but so-so on cov. I say i got a good deal especially for a 14 yr old highschool w/ parents that dont know nothin.

I know that coh/cov is design for other graphic cards but what works, works.
