im having trouble with my in game chat...it shows trade talk but not general chat...i had a similar problem with guild speak not working...cant remember how it was fixed...anybody have any suggestions on how to fix this?

that was the first thing i looked at..its checked...i get trade talk and pms but no actual chat....i cant see what ppl are saying outside of trade or pms...it shows what there saying above thier heads but not in my chat window

Yup. That's usually the case with me.
Whenever Guild chat's interfering with one or two conversations I'm having I'll turn it off, same with General chat. Then some time later, or sometimes even the next time I log on, I will have forgotten it and wonder why it's so quiet.

ok i fixed it...i had to uncheck it then log out...the log back in and recheck...works good now...must have been some kinda glitch...thanx for the help lani and gryzz

Interesting.
If you can see their texts above their heads and get PM's it's not a connection to the chat service that's the problem, but something with your client. Which does lead us back to those checkboxes. Have you tried toggling them off and back on?
Or just left them on 'off' to see if their meaning hasn't suddenly become inverted?
Another trick that seems to do wonders for all sorts of interface problems is to set your screen resolution to a lower level. Just hit ALT+Enter in game. You'll go to windowed mode, which prompts a resolution change, which in turn prompts the client to "rethink" it's interface positioning and whatnot.
