Well the pet peeves thread has taken off and it seems everyone has something that gets on their nervers with the game. I thought i would start a thread that listed the things you DO like about the game, i mean you all wouldn't be addicted to it if you didn't enjoy it. So what is it that keeps you logging in every day (or every few days for those of you who may actually have a life). What puts this game above those other MMORP's out there in your minds?

What I like about CoH....hmmm, I must like something, right? Otherwise, why would I spend money every month to play and all this wasted time. Oops! Did I say wasted time? Heh.
One of the things that I like most about CoH is the everchanging atmosphere. The developers are always adding new material, making changes to existing material, there are new players every day, old players leave, some people level their characters faster or slower than others - so you're not always grouping with the same people, and I am still levelling up my first higher level char, so all the missions are new to me.
Wow, I got everything listed in that "one thing I like most".
Rate other people's posts to give them feedback. I will frequently rate the first post of a new topic at least a 3, because that person is keeping the forums busy. I also will rate posts on how helpful they were to me, or how helpful I deem them to others. Please rate my posts to let me know if they have been useful to you.

wow, only one person has something they actually like about the game??? now this just cannot be... come on guys what brings you back to the game?
i myself love the story lines... the story archs to be exactly, nothing better than having a meaning to your missions. not just a hack and slash game, you actually get to find out about the bad guys, why they do what they do, where they came from... those nifty souviners you get to look back over any time you want. it really makes the game for me.

I enjoy reading comics, and have done so since I was a young lad. This game sets itself apart from the others because of the comic book/hero genre. I love being able to fly around, blast a crook with a bolt of energy, or knock a huge robot across the room.
Another thing I enjoy is the somewhat casual aspects of the game. Have only a half an hour to play? Just jump in the game and do a mission or two. You won't get uber exp, but you do get a feeling of accomplishment. I also like the fact that the devs seem to be really interested in making this a better game.

This is my first MMO so I cant really compare it to the others (are they all this addicting???) What I like about this game is the graphics far surpass any of the games I've played to date. The content and expansions they add however are what keep me shelling out the 60 bucks every 30 days. (for 2 accounts) Pretty impressive for being Statesman's/cryptic's first game release.

The one thing keeps me coming back is the fun of people (hero) watching. I love to just hang out in the extreme populated areas and look at all the characters everyone has made. Some are just too much for words, although some are too much for the mind to take in..."NipFlicker" comes to mind and when it comes to SG names...I don't think I will ever get "Tactical Women's Assault Team" out of my mind anytime soon, I'm seeking therapy now. LOL!!
And now I see that I contradict myself, because, I'm thinking of more and more things that keep me coming back. Like, the fun of the game, the ability to become your own hero or your fav hero (also long as you skirt the Copyright thing). Pushing the rude people to the side, I am amazed at just how awesome some of the people playing are, the other night a level 50 hero showed up in AP and started handing out influence to everyone in his range of site...He gave me, read that again, GAVE ME 25,000 influence!!
I could go on for probably an hour of just what freaks my mind about this game, but, I don't wanna bore ya to death, I'll just leave with the ones above.

Very easy combat system that is intutitive, rewarding, well paced.
All the crazy names do not bother me here - in fact they are expected. I hate trying to rolelplay say - fantasy and see characters with named like "ButtCruncher" or "IDfeetU" In this game it matters not.
Awesome artwork - characters look great!
FANTASTIC character creation system - every character looks unique.
First Superhero Genre MMORPG. Been waiting since my days of playing Marvel and Champions RPG table-tops.
Ohh thats enough!

All of that and more.
IF anyone has played on other games you should know about exp loss for death and even some delevel you.....EWWWW!!!! But this game gives you exp debt halving you exp but letting you still step forwards. In ohter game you could go and have a good run only to have some butt munch bring a horde of baddies your way and die right at you killing you and losing all that exp you just worked for....gets bad high lvls. But here you could die 10 times a lvl and still get eventually to 50. I don't die much at all but i still appreciate that.
2nd cmon...how cool is it just to use SJ or FLY OR SS and just run around? This game just has that coolness factor which combined with the ease of play works great.
Also SCINCE you DO pay for it...you see less butt munches running around being immature and trying to rip people off. I said less not none. Games like diablo 2 come to mind. Running around minding your own business lvling with your group when a lvl 387234874328 declares you hostile and runs up to one shot you for fun. Even with hero pvp i'm wagering you wouldn't see that hardly any. Thats because paying for this game OR being smart enough to goad your parents into paying for it takes a certain amount of maturity. (cept me....i'm immature as heck....but i'm a nice guy)
Lastly Cmon the people themselves playing this game are cool. Just the amount of original characters and stories you see funny or otherwise is nice. (repeatedly slap any spidurhman you see or other such cookie cutters :) It's not so much that I don't understand y but it can get annoying to see 50 hulks in under 5min.

much enjoyed Flight. (Swift helps too, early, as it
benefits all movement, though you can only further enhance
Swift with Run.)

I'm really glad to see this thread brought back to life... i think it is always good to think of the good aspects of the game, espically w/ all the ranting and raving that goes on about it.... but i for one am completely and totally addicted to CoH, so it is nice to hear from others that may not be addicted give reasons to keep coming back... thanks guys!

KK abnother reason....The existance of self rez...whether it be awaken or skills.
Alot of games are missing that. Also the powerups (insp) are easy to use and understand and are plentiful

I have to admit - I'm a die hard casual gamer, and CoH fits right in with that. I like to log in when I'm able and in the mood, or between loads of laundry, whichever comes first. I like the ability to go hunting or do missions, either solo or with a group. I like not feeling like I have to log in every single night in order to advance the tiniest bit, in fact I like to go weeks sometimes without logging in :). I like to die a lot (ask anyone I've grouped with) but I'm working on that (my therapist says I'm making huge progress), and the death penalty is very easy to deal with. I like the escapist factor, the cool costumes, and the awesome people I've met!!

I suppose the main reason i like COH compare to the other MMORPGs is because it a 'team-based' game rather than a 'solo' game, you are more likely to advance your 'level' via teamplaying than alone and most of the better powers/abilities are based on team strategies. Some of the other MMorpgs have the tendencies to award those who hunt on their own rather than in a team.

so i've now got another fav to add.... and it would have to be the devs hard work... i mean this halloween event is GREAT and the devs obviously put in a lot of work to get it up and going for this weekend. I think it is great that we can go trick or treating in game. it also makes me (and a lot of other people from what i've seen in game) wonder what is in store for us for other holidays... they just keep making me want to come back more and more to the game.

Hmmm... what could be in store for us with other holidays? Oh, Evil Santas, goblin like elves, pissed off walking christmas trees that fling tinsle and ornaments at you, and reigndeer that throw poop at you!! Of course for easter you could have vicious little white rabbits with big nasty sharp point teeth, little weeble like egg creatures that gas you with noxtuous fumes, swarms of baby chickens that want to peck your shins out, and lets not forget the scarriest thing of them all.... giant marshmellow Peeps!
Of course I'm not forgeting the other holidays inbetween either. For thanksgiving you could have headless turkeys that want to stuff YOU, pilgrims with assault rifles, indian shamans, more of those walking pumpkin things, walking stalks of corn that shoot at you buckshot style with their kernals, oh and of course you'd have these gelatinous blobs of cranberry sauce that just want to consume everything! And lets see... well for Valentines day you could have psychotic cherubs going around shooting everyone with arrows to make them fall in love with (Auto follow) the first person they see. Which would render them totally useless against the swarms of those little candy hearts, or the walking rose bushes with thier thorn attacks. Hmmm... oh geeze there are so many holidays, and some of them, like Channukah ( hope I spelled that right) that I don't know enough about to come up with grotesque monsters. So from here on out you guys are on your own.

Of course you know they won't touch that as hilarious as it would be. I mean cmon :) politics would kill the game so fast it ain't funny. They can lie and mudsling about each other but they will be DAMNED if anyone else he don't have enough people supporting it can. I mean nobody is gonna shut down leno or something for it....but video games are less publicly mainstream so are vulnerable to many things tv no longer has to worry about. Still I'd like to beat the snot outa Bush and Kerry though :P. Also I'd like to see a clinton appearance surrounded by succubi. :P If you don't know what those are the fact he is Clinton should give you a hint.
