RE: Travel

They all have their ups and downs...pardon the pun.

The most versatile travel power would have to be Super Jump. It's reasonably fast, unslotted, it uses little endurance and it has good vertical movement. Combat Jumping is a reasonably good defense and early vertical movement power for missions as far as "opener" powers goes. The final power of the set, Acrobatics, is also a decent mez protection for characters that don't have any mez protection.

Flight is slower, uses a lot of endurance, but has the best control and unlimited vertical movement. When slotted with 3 flight speed SOs and an endurance reducer SO, it's pretty darned quick and doesn't eat up a whole lot of endurance. It has a reasonably good "opener" power (air superiority) for characters that get into melee range often.

Superspeed is REALLY fast, but has no vertical movement. Endurance cost is low. However it has one of the best "opener" powers of all the travel pools (hasten).

Teleport has two of the best opener powers with Teleport Foe and Recall Friend. The endurance cost is heavy and the power can be difficult to get used to, but it's pretty decent.

So, it's all a matter of taste. The pools are pretty well balanced.

RE: Travel

I perfer Fly it may be slower but it has its uses I found super jump hard to control I always over or under shoot my landing and get myself in trouble. havent tried super speed and Teleport is just a pain.

Thanks to Death Fetish for this cool "siggy"

RE: Travel

flight does have the handy fire & forget aspect. I can get elevation and the point in direction i wanna go and just hit R. all others require yuo to be at keyboard to get where your going. Flying i can hop up for that next bottle of Dew or the infamous bio.

RE: Travel

CoV is a lot better with keeping your missions in the current zone as well. So Fly gains a big boost from that. After all, if you're staying in the same zone, what's an extra 30 seconds or so?

RE: Travel

i have Tp with my MM currently and now that i have 1g of ram its way easier... lol. I like being able to organise the team with recall friend, or running around a corner to pull them out. also helps in getting mercs out of melee once i immob a foe. will prob get tp foe to do the same getting the mob away from mercs, or bring them to brutes. not so reliable as pulling tool. bamf'ing is just fun

RE: Travel

Fly is definately the most convenient. Like everyone has said, the R button is brilliant. I find SS the most fun to use. It's also the best for zipping around in a mission. The small endurance useage is great for hit and run with a stalker: If you get in trouble you can get out of there fast. You could do the same with TP, but if you are low on endurance you might not get very far. So IMO, superspeed. The only problem is if you find a wall or something. All the other sets could easiler get over when you would have to traverse around.

RE: Travel

Superjump is the best to answer your question. Very low endurance cost, even with no EC enhancements on there. Put a couple lvl 40 s/o enhancements on there and you're set.

RE: Travel

I like teleport the best. It was the fastest travel power till the ED(Enhancement Diversification)

If you 6 slotted TP w/ Range, you were 300yds away in an instant..now the max you can get is 215yrds roughly..but still in 2 seconds how far can you jump/fly/run vs. teleporting? I don't like the end usage, but again with ED you can just 3 range 3 end reduction and you use almost no Endurance to TP about 200+ yrds away..

2.1 infamy.. =P

RE: Travel

Lotta people covered a lot but here's some input that may not have been made.

I like SJ on my thermal Corr. Having Acrobatics allows me to stay vertical, nothing worse than seeing a teammate's HP dropping and not being able to get a heal off. I do recomend taking stealth (of some type) with it for those unexpected meetings on a bad landing.

SS
I like this for my Dom, allows me some stealth. With Plants I can get in position for my alpha attack, its AOE and I want to get maximum coverage.

Teleport- nice and quick, as a MM TP foe is a nice power you can TP and enemy into your pets, nice as a brute as well. Recall nice on any to help allies get to mish (specially if you SK lower friends a lot).

Fly, not much experience, but i hear group fly is nice for MMs

RE: Travel

Taking in CoH and CoV experience

Fly is the number one travel power.

A-B straight-ish line (the only thing I do straight in the game ;p) press auto run and nip off for that bio or a coffee.

Saying that, Superspeed on two of my defenders is fantastic. Zip from front to back of combat to make sure that the group stays alive.

I've got superjump on my brute and it fitted the character. He didn't seem like a superspeeder or a flyer, with the background and his powers coming from his armour, giving him the ability to leap large buildings seemed ideal.

I tried teleport and just didn't get on with it.

Apart from personal preference I also think the design of the character you have can have a say on what kind of travel power you give them.

Saying that, teleport friend and TP foe are a good set to have. Brutes with TP foe for those darn squiddies in Sirens (thats shades and bringer... sushi time now on!) and TP friend for getting to a mission first and zipping the group to you.
