I have stone and havent been disappointed. I here from them folks that surpassed 32, granite makes one uber, and is one of the best for PVP, nearly tank level. TP is what alot of folks recommend for stone to counter the slow and for tp foe'ing enemies back in melee.
ON the other hand I hear Fire is fun for the Endur recovery.

I have an energy/invul Brute and hit 28 finally.
Not had a problem except slot accuracy, double slot it. Also slot end redux. The energy attacks eat end like me and chocolate on a bad day... well any day...
Worst thing that can happen is to run outta End, watch ur invul shield drop and u get face planted by the mob that u had under control.
Apart from the end eating, it's a great power set and Invul makes a great secondary.

I don't know why that's so. /Dark is a freaking fantastic secondary. Its main problem is that sometimes it's hard to mix with many other sets besides Dark/.
Dark/Dark goes together very well and its hard to mix and match. /Dark has a fair amount of Resistances as well as Cloak of Darkness which is a great Defense buff and Stealth power. Throw in Death Shroud and Cloak of Fear and anything in melee range is going to have a bad day.
Cloak of Fear will generally have half of the mobs out of the fight at any given time. Death Shroud is on of the most powerful damage per second attacks in the game. It looks plenty weak with a hand full of 30's floating over people's heads. But it never stops and never gives up. Put in 2 accuracy enhancements in it and it almost never misses, too.
Cap it off with Soul Transfer at level 38 and even death won't stop you.
I hit level 40 with my Dark/Dark Brute around a month ago and I still have more fun with him than with any of my other characters.
That said, /Stone and /Invulnerability Brutes have a lot of fun shrugging off damage. /Stone has the trade off that unless they have a /Kinetics Corruptor as their best friend, they will always be waddling around when they need to be beating on things. /Invulerability Brutes are great, although if they trigger Unstoppable, they're praying that the fight is over before it wears off. /Fire Aura Brutes have a lot in common with /Dark Brutes although with their shields, they recieve less benefit from having a /Thermal Radiation Corruptor than anyone else. /Energy Aura Brutes have the benefits of a great stealth power with Energy Cloak and a great level 38 buff in Overload.
In short, the Brute secondaries are pretty well balanced. If you hear anything saying that a secondary is weak, you should take it with a grain of salt. Played properly, any combination of Brute primary and secondary power sets will work just fine.

That post was great. I have made /dark brutes, and found them hard to get into. The cloak of fear and cloak of darkness look like something i would really like, but the powers at the begining are lacking. The /energy i have found, however, really really good at the begining. I have played a friends fire/energy tank, so i dont know much about what the brute form is like, but when my mm and stalker team with them, it is amazing. I played a /stone brute, and found it quite fun. The /inv apear to have been seriously nerfed from their hero form, so i dont reccomend it. When the /dark comes out for stalkers, that will definatly be my char, but i think that the /dark fror brute would definatly have 2 b the best.
