Ok, for pretty much the last year I've been experimenting with all sorts of different builds for solo Strength tankers. I've learned a lot about Super Strength and Tanks in general, but I still don't quite a handle on tanker AoEs. My main question is: do Accuracy enhancments help you hit those other targets who keep ducking and weaving behind the one you're actually hitting, or do you have to really on "stacking" to hit multiple targets? I've noticed that once I get Invincible out the Inv. set (+Acc, +Def, Taunt) I start making a lot more multiple hits. Also, if accuracy does have an impact on tanker AoEs, how much of an Acc bonus is necessary?

AoE's became kind of tricky an issue or 2 ago when the Dev's decided to put a cap on the number of mobs that could be affected. I think the change had something to do with the practice of tankers herding entire maps and letting their blaster friends nuke the whole bunch at once. I am not sure what the mob cap is for tanker AoE attacks. Taunt, which is a non-attack AoE, I think is capped at 5 mobs.
Invincibility will increase your accuracy for every mob in range, up to a cap. I think the accuracy bonus is 5% per mob, but I do not remember what the mob caps is for this one.
In terms of the accuracy of AoE attacks, yes, adding accuracy enhancents will increase your chance to hit any mobs within range of the attack (up to the cap, of course). Some AoE attacks are auto-hit (Fire Tanker's Burn Patch for example) but I don't think any of the attacks in Super Strength fall into that category.

I've been playing since CoH came online (tanking solo came after the "Winterlord" event) and I remember tagging along on some of those Dreck farming missions. I never got into that sort of herding though, since the tanker categories I preferred were Strength & Energy and Stone & Inv, in various combinations (Mud Pots could be seen as a herding tool if didn't also slow down targets, risking leaving them behind while herding). In any case, since I never tried anything like herding entire zones, the target caps never bothered me much.

Other than taunt and invincible, Brigadier has no AoEs. Seeing as taunt is auto-hit, and there is no way to know if invincible hits or not, I can't really help you there.
However, I now have a stone/fire who currently has mud pots and combustions (both PBAoE DoT). ALl I can say about that is mudpots doesn't seem to miss very often at all. Though combustion misses more, I still don't have too much of a problem with it. The good thing is even if you miss gauntlet still seems to work on them.

I brought up AoEs because I was under the impression that since about I3(?) most, if not all tanker attacks had at least a small AoE that could effect small clumped/stacked groups. It's been my experience that tanker melee attacks often force enemies behind and beside my targets to dodge in reaction to the attacks, and once I start using Invincible and accuracy SOs, those nearby targets start getting hit as well.

I appreciate all the answers so far, but I don't think I stated my question very clearly. The simple version: for minimal-AoE tanker attacks like Jab/Punch/Haymaker in the Strength set, will accuracy enhancements & inspirations make any difference in hitting more than one target, or do I have to rely on "stacking"?

As far as I know the limited AoE on tanker attacks is just a punchvoke thing as I have never seen myself hit more than one enemy with my attacks but I do notice the little taunt star thingy.

I think what Kirby King is talking about, at least what I see it as, is that for some powers that say they only attack one enemy, but its possible to hit in a very small cone around the target. I believe its super-strength that has a power like this.
Anywho, I'm not sure how to answer your question, but I'm pretty sure I clarified it. Does accuracy enhancements help with hitting those other targets? I think that's the big question here.
If I'm wrong......just slap me :P

I think that is what Kirby is asking too. So be lucky I don't have to come over and slap you.
As for the answer, I think it doesn't help. I have 2 acc. SO's in all my Super Strength attacks, and 3 to hit buffs SO's in rage, and I still only hit one mob at the time. Unless I use footstomp, of course. Oh, I love my footstomp.

What the OP is referring to is a bug that was allowing certain single target tanker attacks to act as if they had a small cone effect on them. I'm not positive but I think this has been fixed as I haven't noticed it happening with my tanker anymore.

I see what you mean now. This only has happened to me if one of the enemies was higher than the other. For instance, one is on a ledge on a wall, and the other isn't. Or if you have so many attacking you that to get in melee range they try and jump over each other. This slight difference in hieght seems to trigger it.
