Because google forces them on here in exchange for allowing this website to exist. We don't want them but it's evil google that's doing it.

Like lani has said in the past, all the adverts are done by google ( GameAmp does need money too ^.^), GameAmp has no control over what is advertised, though it usually is incorperation with the website. GameAmp IS about Guild Wars, and WoW, seems like pretty on-topic adverts to me.

Its a good point raised, if its illegal (and Guild Wars certainly takes a firm hand in trying to stop it) surely Google would should stop accepting adverts of this type. Drugs are illegal and you never see adds in the paper or on t.v. trying to sell them, why should this be any different?

They're dynamic adverts, Google's ad engine searches words and phrases on the page... it then matches this with clients who pay them to advertise on their behalf.
As most the advertisers who would match a Guild Wars search criteria are those that sell Gold, most of the adverts will be for just that.

Try adding other phrases to the page, you'll see the adverts change...
Just a test:

Selling gold is against the EULA of GW not google. Google recieves no penalty for breaking the EULA or GW since the EULA of GW doesnt extend outside of the game. That's why it's so hard for GW to ban accounts that sell gold on ebay even if their name is on the picture.

Because it's not "illegal", it's just against the EULA. Doing it is not against the criminal law.

Okay, my bad for using 'illegal'. I suppose this falls into to the novelty/fake ID area of marketing, its wrong and the powers that be dont like but can't catch enough people at it to stop it. Like all things while there is a market that wants it there will be suppliers who provide it.
