| Droknars Run By a Ranger? |

i was talking to someone about rangers, and I said "good runners, but shame can't do droks", then they say they have been run twice there by rangers: Once R/w, and 2 weeks ago a R/Mo. is this even possible?

It's surely possible yes, I even made it with a 55 monk once (combined with a lot of irritation and even a lot more luck though).

Never tried R/Mo but R/W is possible yes. I tried racing a R/W mate of mine against my W/mo and I couldn't keep up hehe. I wouldn't want to try it as a R/Mo with no Balanced.

my friend made it with a rnger once, he ran me when i was a low lvl. he just used alot healing enchants..r/m obviously. he did it as well as any warrior i know.
i think he had storm chaser/escape,unguent(was there ever any doubt),healing breeze,antidote signet,smite hex and holyveil.

Cool :) I'm assuming the Furlined armour is necessary though :P (Resistiace VS cold becomes bvetter than a Warrior)

o_O 55 monk, lol i have made it with my monk/warrior quite easy, but i have never tried running it as a 55 monk, that would be hilarous.

Two out three free runs I have to Droknars furnace have been with either a R/w or R/m. I think that is a great combination, thats why I made one.

I recently got a run there through a race. 4 racers. 3 W/Mo 1 R/W.
The R/W won hands down, didnt die once. The 3 w/mos all died at least once.

lol..im not entirely sure rngers are that good becos of recharge times unless the w/m's were pretty new the run..however i suppose if u time evrything precisely rngers could win a race there...

I doubt that, I think unless the warrior does something reeeeaaaally weird there is just no way he can lose to a ranger on the Drok's run, a ranger has too much worries to take care of.

I'm gonna try do the run with a ranger/mesmer
which i think should work maybe very well
instead of balanced stance you could use Mantra of Resolve
worth a try i think

Lol, wish you good luck, there are a range of reasons I can come up with why such a build will never make it but it's worth a try I guess... =)

it;s easy too see wy it's easy, it's eather the mo or the w but you alway's have a chance while having one of them.
it is a sad thing that only thows 2 prof's can make it, an n/e cant even get true the second wave.

shouldnt be a problem at all to do it with a R/W or a W/R ... I just might make a build for the R/W and post it if I have time. Havnet done it yet, but I have done it plenty on my W/Mo to know what to keep an eye out for :) I can already think of skills to use vs other skills in a typical running build. i'll test it out

Sprint, Dodge, Stormchaser, Charge, Balanced Stance, Shields Up, Serpents Quickness, Troll Ungent. The ability to run constantly at a higher speed on average helps. The fact that you your skills recharge 33% faster and you also don't have to wait for energy to regen really helps. However it's also a lot more volatile and death is more likely if things go wrong. Although in a race the ranger can use the warriors as an advantage as the enemies aren't going to be solely concentrated on him. Spiking is more of a problem.

oh and i see that the ranger will also have a higher resistance to the slow hexes (elemental damage) and will be able to survive there longer, meaning the hex removal can be done without?

WOW! I have never heard of a run by a ranger for anything, but then again I have only been playing for 2-3 months. If there has been a R/M running droks, I would really love to see/know what skills they used, please.

If you think about it, rangers can have permanent faster run on.
Storm Chaser - For 8-20 seconds you move 25% faster and gain 1-4 Energy whenever you take Elemental damage.
Escape - For 5-15 seconds, you move 25% faster and have a 75% chance to "evade" attacks.
Dodge - For 5-10 seconds, you move 33% faster than normal and have a 27-65% chance to evade incoming arrows. Dodge ends if you attack
They all have a 30 second recharge time, so you would even have some overlap. Not sure about warriors, but i dont think they run as well as that. The only thing warriors have over rangers when running is armour. And that you can use charge + balanced stance.

Well, between Charge and Sprint, i can keep up a 25% speed forever. But one of the biggest advantages of Ranger is Dodge. It's a great breakaway skill, if you're being pursued, just use Dodge and they'll stop chasing you.
That and the extra elemental armor + Frostbound.

A ranger only needs Dodge and Storm Chaser to run indefinately.

if you make a ranger warrior, you have AT LEAST 5 running skills
Storm Chaser
Charge
Sprint
Dodge
Dryder's Defences also works well here, because of the extra armor it gives you while runnin 25% faster.
just add troll unguent, healing signet and balanced stance and you have your runner set up :)
