changing power pool sets

I have heard that you are able to change a power pool set if you have respect or something like that. not sure if there is any truth in this. does anyone know if this is possible. (here's the thing). I chose the transport foe, & now I see that I don't use it that often or that I will choose or use any of the other powers in this pool set. I would like to get rid of it & get the concealment pool set.

RE: changing power pool sets

There is only truth in this. Respec's can change which powers you chose starting from level 1 to whatever level you are at the time of using the respec. You get to choose different powers, which level you recieve them(so when you exemplar you can have your favorite), and change your enhancement slots. You can obtain one by doing the various task forces which all involve saving the Terra Volta reactor. (I think) Or you can wait for a new Issue of the game to come out, because they always give a free one out per issue. You can see the Task forces for respec'ing here on the site, it's on the left under CoH Trials. Hope I helped. :D

Well they don't always give out a free respec with each issue but with all of the sweeping changes they have been making with the last few it does seem like a new one with each issue.

Simple answer: Yes, you can change/modify/drop any and all Power Pools with a respec. I have done so at least half a dozen times with half a dozen toons. :-p

My bad, I thought they always gave out a free respec per Issue due to the changing of powers and such. Well, I stand corrected.

Theoretically they won't be giving any more respecs with new issues because they did that when they majorly modified powers, and they haven't done that this time. I hope. :-p

CoH wise in the patch notes their is no major things but the patch notes are not complete. I say they are not complete because I recall something in the Dev Digest thread saying that. My big hope is that tanks and scrappers will finally get a new powerset. But as far as CoV there should be a free respec because of the changes they are making there.

I agree with that. CoV is getting quite a few changes, and therefore should give respecs out. But who knows.

Out of curiosity, what new powerset(s) would you like to see Tanks and Scrappers get?

There's really no telling, but I'd expect another free respec with I7. The only reason that I say that is because it's been advertised as the next big change...Much like I5 and I6. If you're planning on waiting for that one, then you better hunker down, bubba...I've heard that I7 isn't hitting the scene until April. Of course, I have been wrong before...

You should also read Grifter's article on respec'ing beore you do it. You don't want to mess your character up.

And, more than likely because they are potentially offering a free respec with I7 because of COV changes, they will probably offer everyone on both sides one if a COV one is made available. I can just hear the screaming on the main forums if Villains got one and Heroes didn't. You know how that crowd is.

I don't really see any harm in them offering a free respec with every issue anyhow. I've seen as many people mess up their build with FOTM powers, as improve builds.

My advise on respecing, first, definately read the guide that Jeni pointed you to. Second, if we get free respecs or you earn one, hang onto it for a while and really think about your choices. Don't respec right after an issue release, or specifically because of it. They have overnerfed in the past only to restore some powers to better functionality leaving some players wishing they had kept certain powers in their build.

I can guarantee after I7 is released within a month or so there will be patches coming down the pipe to fix the little things that got broken. Wait for a bit for a release to settle on the servers and community. You can usually get feedback on this site if a Pool power has more effectiveness or not.

The original post seemed to be more of an issue of correcting Pool powers that did not seem effective. That can ususally be done any time unless there are huge Pool power changes like ED. I don't see any major nerfs like that coming down the pipe. I just see a lot of people hastily respec a toon, only to be dissapointed that they did so.

Depending on your toon type, and preference for PVP or not, TP Foe can be an asset or get you killed. I'm getting into the Stealth lines with some of my squishy Blasters and really liking it. You really have to be into actively using TP Foe for it to be usefull.

RE: changing power pool sets

I have read the grifter's article. it was interresting. think I'll check out the web for a hero planning. it may be easier than the way I have been planning out my heroes, but maybe not. I have been thinking carefully about if I need to change my powers or not, its always a hard decision (at least for me).
The reason I have been confused about this is that I have done the 1st respec mission in protecting the reactor from the sky raiders. but I have not been able to found the respec option to change my powers. so a friend showed me a way to see if I had any respecs & it showed I have none. But I have been reading at work that you have to talk to Jack wolfe in Galaxy City. so I will check it out later & see if that gives me the respec I should have. if not well then I guess I need to do another mission. The 3rd respec mission should give me a respec, & its for thelvl's I'm at so I can get some EXP while fighting.

Too bad you can't change your primary and secondary powersets with a respec!!!! Man... ever since the dreaded ED, Brim just hasn't been the same... he was awesome before.... if I could, I'd make him a stone tank.

I am no longer Captain Icy-Hot... I am Brimstone Titan!!!!!!!!

A really good hero planner can be found
here...

And the only way to get a respec is to complete the trial and at then end when you are given a choice of rewards, you must pick the respec... if you have done this, you should have one waiting at good ole Jack.
