Official Self Analyzation Thread

Hi all!
The situation with overly large signatures is getting slightly out of hand. It seems that especially Quiz-results from quizfarm.com take up an inordinate portion in a lot of signatures which takes the focus away from those nice, tateful and above all small signature images that would normally be in there.

Now we fully understand everyone's need and desire to analyze themselves through these quizes and tell everybody else that they taste like oatmeal, most closely resemble a Super-Soaker Mark III and in an alternative universe would be two parts Wonder Woman and one part Sith Sidious, hence this thread.

Here you can post all the restults you like of all the quizes who's contents are acceptable for Gameamp audiences so we can all read it, without us having to scroll past two screens of them at every post you make. So knock yourself out here and keep your signatures clean and crispy :-)

One thing good came from those QuizFarm sigs, and that's my Account information under my sig, I used the code to create the tables, just to save space.

yeah im prety much against those sigs with exagerated sizes.

-i dont have a signature but when i make 1 it wont be larger then 500x150

So its what ever format the Norse Pantheonic Pagan quiz used that throws the page out :O

Maybe a post option for box frame will fix these wild posts ;)

Finding out the text difference between the ok ones and the bad ones would help and a lil fail safe option added.

This thread was made for this stuff to try and keep it out of the main forum so scroll to the top and re-read the first post please.

Also its known that the text in these quizs have stuffed up a page and asaik is still being worked on.

What I like to do with the format problem is copy and paste it to text pad, then remove "all" format text. Then move onto re-doing its format in a far more basic way to remove the problem.

something like this (points below)

word, space, --- as an extra spaces, result

Ranger ---------- 110%
Mesmer ---------- 100%
Leeter ---------- -20% <-- hehe

the "-" is used as a spacer as text tabs stuff up going to web page format and it helps keep everything lined up.

So in place of copy and paste the bit they say, just highlight and copy/paste the area already showing and re-do the result tabs as shown above. Should not take more than a couple of mins to do this.

PS; always use the "preview" button as the text format changes alot from what you typed and better safe than sorry.

Edit = I like to get rid of pre-formatted text anyway as you never know if something nasty is written into it :s

Im convinced I went in removed a few of those tables and left a note in the post about it....well its probably better that it stayed like this(in fact another staffer could have undone my edits so as to prove a point) so we can all be aware of how problematic these things can be.

Now as to fixing it you dont have to be one of those net guru know it all type thingymajigs. They all start with something called a table tag, there might be other stuff before the closing bracket but in its simplest form it looks like this

Now in order for them to work properly and not mess up the page you need to ensure that it ends with whats called a closing tag, most HTML tags have a closing partner and in this case it should end with this - the closing tabel tag.

</table>

As you can see the only difference between an opening tag and its closing partenr is the /

There will be a tonne of stuff inbetween so I suggest that everytime you add one check that it has one of them there closing table tags things at the end of it. Its usually a problem of just missing something off during the copy and paste process and is way easy to do.

If you want to learn more about HTML I suggest w3schools.com, they are a great resource and make it really easy to learn and practise

Wow, EvilGeek, thanks for the tip on that site!
I did check the tables, and everything was as it should be... *sigh* I either missed something else or it's just messed up on its own.
I tried to edit that last quiz like you suggested, Taris, but for some reason it won't let me preview anything: it just took me back to the original page.

Hmph. Evil computers: now I am determined to conquer thee!
