Ok, I have made my first character with teleport as his travel power. I must say I am not too impressed with it all. So far I find it useless and I hate it. I thought flight used end. I can't even travel from one side of Kings Row to the other without running out of end. Granted I just got it, so it is only one slotted. But I do have a level 15 DO end reduc on it. I am building this character to be ready for PVP in Sirens Call. I want to have TP foe. So I figured I would give the entire pool a try except for team TP. I do not like TP at all so far. I have ran it for one level now and I just can not get used to it. It looks like I am going to have to get hover just to keep me in the air long enough to hit the TP button again, or stay on the ground to travel.
Does anyone have any tips for using Teleport?

TP at low lvls does suck... without stamina or proper slotting it is an end hog.... but it really comes into it's own later on in life... it's great for those huge high lvl zones *cough* FBZ *cough* and it is THE fastest way to geat around... but it is a hog.
It works best with a bind I found... constantly clicking or making sure it's slotted in a hole where you can push it's number can be annoying... it was also terrible here recently when the animations would over lap.... it was a pain and would cause it to rain heroes.
Some people will tell you that at high lvls hover is itnessicary... I hardly use it... as a matter of fact I slotted my hover.... well before ED it was as fast as fly... not so much anymore... but... I used hover more as a local travel power.
The only problem I've really discovered with TP is that you want to have a secondary travel.. TP is GREAT for long distances.. but once you get in close... or in a mission... it's annoying.... that's why most people to end up taking fly (or SS... but if you're getting hover why switch to another pool?)... you can now use fly in mission without the deductions you used to get and it's pretty fast.
Ok to sum up... TP is a great high lvl power... I don't suggest it before stamina, and I cerntainly don't suggest it for an only travel power.
Does that help any?

ok granted its been a while since i got a hero high enough for a travel, but tp was my 1st travel power way way back when, and i would have it on my blaster if not for the fact i needed SS for a good reason (to make my cloaking device 100%) on cov i got tp and with only 1 DO end redux in it i found i was able to go alot further than i remember without having stamina. if you think its bad now you should have seen it in I3 without stamina my god.
now with stamina, and 1 SO end redux i have gone clear accross IP (length) at full speed without having to stop. and i am a fast TPer. i have a button on my mouse bound to tp and always bring up the target before if have tped and click as soon as i come out of it.
if you put 1 end redux and 3 range in it. tp is so fast you would not believe. i mean pre ED it got 200 yards per jump i think. it would be slightly less now but still special.
i also think there is no need to have other travel powers with it. the only need for a travel in missions is to speed up looking for a glowie.
i find that i can also hop around very nicely with hurdle. god i love that power i cant do without it now it rox.

That definantly helps some. This was more or less a "let's see what this is like" type thing.I figured if I didn't like it, I will respec out of it. later I was going to try and avoid geting a second travel power to have the extra earth or storm power. One of these days I will take the time to learn how to bind keys. I have a couple of other characters that I would love to bind some powers. I will probably end up getting combat jumping and SJ later. That is really my favorite travel power. But I figured I woudl give this a try. When you slot teleport, what is the best way to slot it.
End reduc - 1 or 2 ?
Range increase - 1 or 2 ?

I have one toon with TP as her major travel power, and I do like it. It was abit of getting used to it, but now I am quite happy with it. I have it slotted with 3 range enhancements. My idea is that I rather cross the zone fast. I still run out of end when crossing a big zone, but I am there before everybody else, so that's ok.
I didn't see the need for an second travel power. It is sometimes a bit tricky to get tp'ed exactly to the door. To solve this I have invisibility. As long I am close I can do the last 100 feet walking.
The thing I like the best about it is it's escape skills. No mob can can follow you.

I had teleport with Das Carrot, but have since respeced it out. The main reason is because my computer wasn't the fastest, so with lag it was not as easy it seemed. It also take constant attention. I now have flight and I just get up to a descent height and set the auto-fly and relax or type. With teleport, I had to constantly activate power, aim to target and click.
I set up 2 binds. One for hover and one for activating teleport. I would hit the "H" key for hover, then hit the "F" key to activate the teleport. This would bring up the target and I would click where I wanted to teleport. As soon as I started the teleport I hit the "F" key again to start the next teleport. So when I came out of the first teleport, I had my target up and immediately clicked for to start the next jump.
Here are the binds I used. at the chat line type:
/bind h "powexec_name hover"
/bind f "powexec_name teleport"
So if I hit the "H" key - it would activate my hover power. If I hit it again it would turn it off.
If I hit my "F" key it would bring up the target for my teleport power.

I will try setting up those binds. Sure seems a lot easier than moving the mouse around to click on power as well move the target.
Now i need to figure out how to get words to go with the powers when I activate them.

You don't really need to use a bind if you don't want to figure out how. You can just keep the power in your main power tray. I always put it in slot 10. After I click my destination, I hit the 0 again right away and already have a target when I arrive. This way, I have no trouble at all landing exactly at the mission door if I want to.
On the other hand, I also usually have Hover, but mainly because I like having vertical freedom of movement at level 6. I don't always remember to turn it on before I travel and don't really need to for that, but it does give me a chance to stop and rest if I must. Without Hover, all you need to do is keep an eye on your end bar and land for a breather when you get low. You will still beat everyone else there.
As soon as you get to 15, put both of your new slots on Teleport and add range. Eventually put one more range on it. One end has always been enough for me this way, but you can add another end if you want, or defy ED and add more range.

I have tp since 15 or so, have it 2 slotted SO +range and 1 SO -endur cost. However as a defender I have a built in endurance bonus. Im hitting 140 yrds or so and as long as sprint and invis are off I can tp indefinitly..
Great for escaping trouble in battle as well - even in larger indoor rooms or where hallways are available.
Its best if you combine Hover so you dont drop like a rock on traveling tps. Bonus on hover is to slot it for defense and when you solo you can hover just for the defense bonus and the fact that caltrops, tarpatch, mudpots and the sort do not effect you.

I currently have tp on my lvl 16 controller, and i have no problems with it. i dont have hover, and dont plan on it either. i have it 4 slotted with DO end reductions, and right now i can make it across the hollows fairly easily without running out. i dont plan on using and range enhancements, mostly because i dont want to wast e the slots, and also because i get .06 miles for every tp now, and that isnt bad. what i dont like is when you are running from something, and after you tp, you have to just sit in the air for about 4 seconds until you can fall and run. but that same thing saves me from falling dmg, so i can deal.

Wow, everyone great job. I have a lot to work with here. Very nicely done. I will probably end up getting hover if I decide to keep Tp. For one, that will give me some kind of defense, and two, it will keep me from dropping like a stone. It is definantly something I will need to adjust to. After using SJ and Fly on all of my characters, it is a big difference in traveling.

I actually bound my TP to my left shift.. it makes it kinda fun... tap, click TP... tap click, tp... I can be any where quick. I'd offer more advice on slotting but I haven't played my troller in a while... since ED I haven't really touched her... she's still slotted for massive range... I could go from one end of FBZ to the other in no time flat. :)
my newest favorite travel... SJ... I've got it on my tank... and I use combat jumping as an added bonus defense against psy... I love it. :)
