Late night with Xaviak O'Deathbane!

Hey Ya'll! Today's Topic is: Where's the teamwork?
Ok, I play on European servers which already have the problem of multiple languages. Sometimes it's hard to find that team that even speaks english and can work as a team but there's this new fashion thingy which is known as: super small groups!
For example, today I went to Augury Rock to go farm the queen and in the hopes for a green drop. ;)
Well I got there with my minion master, I hooked up with some other players. There was 4 of us and we still needed a monk and then all hell broke loose (dark drums dum dum dum dum... :P)
After a while, we finally got a monk for a few secs to our group but it was only like 10 secs or so. the only thing he said was : A group this big? LOL! then he left.
Currently atleast on European servers in Augury Rock it is hard to form a group that isn't a 3-man group, which in my opinion because that 1-3 more players ain't that big of a deal and you can do it faster.
Well today I tried the 3-man thingy and it was HORRIBLE!
Each time I get into these "max. efficient" groups, the guys in these groups are total bummers! They're always extremeley nervous and can't seem to take it easy. If you mess up, you get yelled at and then kicked out and called noob. Where's the fun in that??
Yesterday I did the same farm trip but the team was 5/6 and it wasn't "optimised for profit". We had great time and we made jokes and stuff. Even though we only got 2 green drops after tons of runs no-one really didn't seem to be that disappointed as in those max profit groups.
My point is: People should play in these larger groups since they tend to have more fun and even if the drop rate might be a bit smaller who cares?

- I do not want to insult anyone with this and this is only my own opinion. If you disagree be my guest and post your point of view. ^^
-And if you agree with me, you can STILL post it here, Ain't that something? :D

Well I did for the green but still,I want to be in a polite, fun having group. Even if itwas 99/6 rather than in a rude and anti-polite 3/6 group :P

Nice +cred to you. Ive just done a couple of runs with my guildies and you know what - we did it for fun! None of us were fussed about the new green, we just enjoyed ourselves, we even celebrated a purple dye drop with plenty of woots!

I know there are plenty who like getting all the new items and who like having plenty of ingame money but there are plenty who do it for fun. Same problem with ToPK the amount of times Ive tried and failed to get a balanced group . My friends and I love ToPK for the challenge and the scenery, greens are only an added bonus.

Actually, I feel exactly the same as Xaviak. I'm so annoyed when people start to "optimize" because it usually brings along the oh-so-high-and-mighty attitude of "this is undoable with this and that build" etc... "We can't do this without a Nuker!" "We can't do this with a Ranger!" As if! It really gets to my nerves when these so-called 1337 players think they got it all figured out, not allowing themselves to have an open mind. The greatest moment is when all goes to hell and the optimizers start blaiming each other... :)
What can we learn from this? Don't do PUGs!

RE: Late night with Xaviak O'Deathbane!

Haha, it's great that there's ppl who agree with me! :D
But I wouldn't call each and everyone who uses these optimized teams a 1337 since most people just search for the net for these builds and start using it :D
And also aren't the people who know how to work as a team more 1337 than those 3/6 soloers ?:D
I mean isn't it more trickier to make a random group with random ppl to work rather than a build that has just been copied?

Well, I was being mainly sarcastic. ;)
I think anyone announcing him/herself as "1337", "leet", etc, is making a total parody of oneself.
And you are completely righ: I think that the main reason why people are so untolerant about other people's suggestions is the fact that they haven't spent a second to really think about the strategy themselves, they just heard it from someone else, thus making it the "one and only RIGHT way to do it".

Edit: The humble inherit the earth.

your absolutely right alot trickier and alot more fun - but all too often people don't like to think outside the box.

we tend to take the mickey out of 1337 around these parts so its usually meant in a take the mickey way by most contributers as it was earlier :-)
Edit: Fenn' already pointed that out, man you gotta be quick around here...

And pancake that was a couple of great trips :) but sort your sig out! :-)

Hee hee, that's one of the funniest expressions I've heard in a while! :) I take it that it means "to make fun of", right?
I wanna become a Briton too! LOL

Oh, before anyone takes it the wrong way, let me point out that I am genuinely amused, and I mean in the good way. :)

Well, anyhoo, as this seems to be the notorious comedy talk show (atleast by the topic title), then bring us some more amusing things! I am bored!

Absoluetly right :-) Its a politer and more appropriate way for a staffer to say 'take the p**s' which we use alot over here, I don't of course cause I'm far too nice....lol

I'm sure there are loads of things us Brits say that you would find funny but nothing springs to mind....soz. well..where I come from instead of saying hello we say 'ayup me duck' don't ask how that one came about......that any good?

U betcha! Dang, I was just about to ask when told not to..
*lurks in corner pouting*

Hum.. I usually tend to find funny the lovely idiomatic expressions which make absolutely no sense if you translate them word by word.

For instance, we, the Finns, have a saying:
*tries feverishly to recall any*
"Matti kukkarossa", which literally translates to "Jack in the wallet". Guess what that means?

Edit: actually, come to think of it, this is kinda easy..

How about this quaint old saying it still flumaxes me (flumax you'll like that)

'never look a gift horse in the mouth' ??????? its British but I still dont get it, I get what it means but why that wording?

Does it mean Skint?

I know I'd refer to myself as being 'Skint' - if I had Jack S*** in my wallet.

EDIT: The word Flumax, leaves me Flumaxed. :/

Yes, "skint" is absolutely correct.

"Flumax"? A thing that's avoiding to become comprehended, figuratively speaking? I dunno...

Actually, I have an insight on the gift horse!
During the times of horse trading, you could inspect the general healthiness of the horse you were about to buy by examining it's teeth. Hence, if someone were to give you a gift horse, it would be considered rude if you turned the offer down (because it was being given to you for free, out of pure good will).

Or simply confused... :D

Correct!

---

The most amusing cross-atlantic English to English translation is the one that refers to the Behind of all humans, and the front of females...

Can I say Bum and Fanny without being rude..? Considering Fanny in American, and Bum in British means Bottom or Rear, so not so rude. And Bum in American, and F**** in British, means the female reproductive area.

I censored the second F****, as it was used in the British English sense of the word... :/ LOL now I really am Flumaxed.

Actually, Fanny used to be a very popular English Girls name, kind of pre-WW2 - I think the name lost it's appeal when it became the nickname for a body part.

Glad I could easy your slumber! ;)

Oo, speaking of the horses, next one, a tough one:

"hevoset karkaavat", or: "the horses will run away".

???

This one is a saying you can use to point something out, but what? ;)
