The Hero I want…

I’m a new guy here and wondered if there are any kind people able to give me some suggestions (please don’t flame lol)

Basically I would like to make a superhero which is a human like, can fight hand to hand combat but as well is able to do distance attack (with his eyes or fire/ice etc with his hands). I don’t know if I chose a right character at the moment and before I spend too much time with him I would like to find out from the experts :)

NOTE:
If someone want/could help me to create a hero that would be great :D

mabe even with this program:

My current character is natural/martial arts

RE: The Hero I want…

There are no archetypes that are good at both hand to hand and ranged attacks.

However, Blasters are mostly ranged attacks but they do have a few good melee attacks and some Tanker and Scrapper powersets do have one ranged attack. But for the most part, you can't have both ranged and melee attacks, its too powerful a combination.

Ahh thanks for advice.

Could you say which archetype is most usefull in game for lets say groups? or are they both just as needed?

In choosing between blaster, scrappers, and tankers, I would say that tankers are definately the most team oriented.

Scrappers and blasters can both solo pretty easily. Tankers can solo but most of their powers are aimed at drawing enemy fire away from more fragile archetypes, meaning everyone except scrappers, and surviving those attacks.

my 2inf

another idea would be a scrapper. the only thing is you wouldnt have the chance to choose any real ranged attacks until at least lvl 41 when the Epic pools open up to you.

i have no idea of what the choices would be because i havent got a scrapper to the sort of lvl before, if you really want to try it then try asking a high lvl scrapper if its worth while.

RE: The Hero I want…

I have a spines/regen scrapper that had 2 melee attacks, an area attack and a ranged attack at level 8. I really enjoy running around with Swiss Spines. He also now has quick recovery, which means my endurance hardly drops at all. I am not high enough yet to have all of my toggle powers so I rarely lose much endurance when I am fighting.

The others are right though some blasters secondary powers have melee attacks, but it is not good to have many villains that close to your blaster (he is a little squishy when it comes to health).

RE: The Hero I want…

Good day

Myself I love my Electric Empathy Defender. I build him heavy on the attack side early on and he solos up to +2 and has 5 ranged attacks 2 AoEs, and with my epic power set smashing ;-)

So up close and at range he plays well. I do keep him almost full on SOs as I did DOs in earlier levels.

TP, stealth, recall, rez, heal, and buffs make you a valuable part of any team. Youll have a high enough inhernt defense and edurance output (vigilance) to stealth most missions for glowies, rescues, or boss kills while fighting only the mobs you choose. (Nems are a problem here though - and Malta Sappers)

As far as teaming goes you can easily pick up a team for most any level within 5 or yours as an ampath. if you get debt exempt down, if you want presige or influence sk up or even play low man for a while. If sk'd you can do as much damage as most tanks and dont produce the agro that would get you killed.

Later -Del

RE: The Hero I want…

For both ranged and melee attacks, the best ways to go would be a Spines scrapper (as it gets an early ranged attack) or a blaster with either Energy Manipulation or Electricity Manipulation as secondary (as both sets have a lot of melee attacks in them.

RE: The Hero I want…

One thing is a necessity with fire blasters and that is Aggro control! All the area attacks that fire blasters get atract a lot of enemy attention. If your new to blasters in general, I would recommend that you not take very many area attacks, especially Rain of Fire, until you get a good feel for the general blaster playstyle.

And welcome to the site! :)
