RE: Where to farm?

BEST place - there isn't one really

But consider a few things - The higher the average level of the enemy, the better the chances for a good drop.

To that end, I wouldn't farm for weapons and whatnot anywhere before the desert. Once your in the desert, the chance of your getting good items as drops starts inching up.

As a rule, I've found no significant difference in the drops between the southern shiverpeaks (Lornar's Pass and below) and the ring of fire, with the exception that ring of fire has higher drop rates for mursaat weapons and mursaat skinned weapons.)

The Underworld (ToA UW) and the Fissure of Woe also have good drops, but favor is required to enter.

Many people also will farm Sorrows Furnace for green items, but there's a decent chance of golds and good items down there too.

Hope that helps

RE: Where to farm?

Consider this: the more people who are in a given area on a regular basis, the worse drops in that area become. For this reason, areas that are constantly frequented by thousands of people every day have lower and worse drops than other areas. Logically, then, the areas that are the least accessible are the ones that have the best drops, as are areas that are unfarmable with standard solo builds.

Unfortunately, these areas are, by definition, not very accessible and aren't farmable with standard solo builds, so that doesn't really help much. You can take henchmen into these areas, but then they might get the best drops assigned to them (and yes, henchmen DO get drops; they just never show up, which is why very few monsters seem to drop anything when you have 7 henchmen in an 8-man party). If you really want to take advantage of these better drop rates, you really have to make a non-standard self-made and unique solo build to work in those areas, or take a party along for the ride.

Areas that I can think of that SHOULD have a better drop rate than most other areas (while still retaining the high-level monsters) are Lornar's Pass (adjacent to Beacon's Perch, but people capable of surviving in Lornar's aren't around much for fighting), Dreadnought's Drift (isolated from towns), Ice Dome (again, isolated), Spearhead Peak (most people just go through it on their way to Copperhammer Mines/Granite Citadel despite it being adjacent to both), and to a lesser extent Tasca's Demise (people go through it constantly on the way to Mineral Springs, but most people take the shortest route possible) and Ice Flow (most people only enter to get to Thunderhead Keep or Marhan's Grotto, though there are some solo farmers).

All of these are south Shiverpeaks areas, so I didn't include areas like Arid Sea (another out-of-the-way area, but a desert one), the Falls (a jungle region that most people only explore maybe 1/5 of during Blood and Smoke), Majesty's Rest (a transitional area between Kryta and the Jungle), Kessex Peak (people go in for Galrath and then never again), Cursed Lands (semi-isolated region between Bergen Hot Springs and Temple of the Ages), several areas between the northern parts of Kryta and the southern sections, and Dragon's Gullet in the northernmost regions of Ascalon.

RE: Where to farm?

How many players are farming in an area has absolutely nothing to do with the frequency of drops or the quality. Griffon farming outside Augury Rock was completely abused for a very long period of time (hence the nerf), probably by more players than anywhere else. Nevertheless, most everyone I knew got lots of good drops on nearly every run, usually including several gold items.

However, the more players that abuse farming in an area, the more likely that ANET will swing the nerf bat on it (like Augury). Hence my policy of NEVER posting good farming areas on forums. Why ruin a good thing? LOL

The main thing is to farm solo and explore areas that provide a good rate of return for time spent. For example, I farm in several pre-desert areas strictly for coin (not to sell items to other players) because I can do runs quickly and efficiently. This lets me accumulate a greater overall average of coin than solo farming in many popular higher level areas.

As for where to farm, this forums is literally chock full of farming theads. Take a little time to read them and you'll not only know all the popular spots, but what professions and build work best in a particular area.

RE: Where to farm?

Theres diffent places on what you want like from a nice tip on farming I saw was montain trolls drop alot of raven staffs and wooden bucklers then salvage them for wood.Theres places for things you want. But for Superior Runes Farm titans in that mission(hell preicple)they drop rare stuff and armor, so titans(Fire Isles)is the best place to farm. Also dont use henchies to farm the more the henchies the less chance you get a weapon or a rare weapon.I went and kiled a oakheart alone and got a rare hammer. XD
