ok you know how they said perhaps there is a chance of being able to 1 v 1 with other people? well, if there is, i was thinking if maybe some1 could run a contest, like, say we do with with pve chars only, most people have pve warrior right? well maybe we could have contest that gives the winner like some cred or perhaps a cash prize. just saying whats on my head. i would love to 1v1 with my pve warrior because i love him so much :)
tell me if this is a good idea or no

That would be absolutely awesome. However, I think it should be restricted to classes. For instance, a warrior should not be forced to duel a mesmer.

What if the players entered an area where they can choose who to duel.

Well the idea has its merits but also its downfalls. For example a 1 vs 1 battle is really like a game of rock-paper-scissors where if you have a build and your opponent has a counter build then it is unlikely that you will win. So really what it will come down to is luck. The good idea part is that it would be fun to go up against other people.

Anet were infact testing 1 vs. 1 arena style battles at the recent 'backstage pass' event, although this was just a test and they stated that they were still unsure on whether it would be included in factions, it surely is something that i would want to see though =).

Well they said they would add 2 new places a year. So...perhaps it will be the first new area they will add to factions after it has been reliesed.

I'd like to see it as an unrated type of battle where you can challenge people by forming a team and then entering the arenas. It would be kind of boring to go up against random people. plus if that happens alot of people will just make 55 monks and then if you dont have a mesmer or necro...well..you get the picture.

i agree with Nhil, there is no way to choose who you wish to fight against in Guild Wars except for in GvG Unrated battles, a way of having 4 vs. 4 fights in arena style maps would be great.

We tried doin 1 on 1 battles with my old guild to fight for officer status....tried goin to international dists when empty croos your fingers and hope u get eachother lol....didnt work very well

lol if you wanted to do that all you would need is 2 guilds and some guest invites and an unrated battle. Then you have 30 min to mess around.

I have an idea. It would only take one button that says Duel. when you are in town and you click on a person there could be another button added simmilar the that of the trade button. Then the other player would get a little pop-up that tells them about the person that chalenged them. Such as Name, Level, Class(s). Then if you accept the duel it will have a count down to go to a dueling arena. If you decline the duel then it will disable the person that challenged them from challenging sending another duel invite for a small amount of time. This is done to keep spammers from spamming duel challenges to players.
This could also give guild wars another way to gain faction and a new ranking system. There could also even be new emotes for these higher duel rankes. Such as the exsting ones but in a new color.
Would also be a neat idea to add a way to submit prize money when you go to duel. That way you could duel for gold. (This is just a thought but it could cause a lot of troubles with players)

Well the idea is good but i can see 2 problems with it. 1 is that when you duel you can arrange a battle between guildies or friends and then you can manipulate the prize money idea and 2.) is that it can get annoying if people start challenging you left and right when you just pop into town to buy an ID kit.

What if there was another button added to your menu bar. Such a button would allow you to disable duel invites, or even let only duels under a certen bet be alowed. Like a little thing that would be like...
Disable all duel invites / Allow duels by guild or friends / Enable all duels
Allow duels when bet is > #
Allow duels when bet is < #
This would work like a filtering system to limit the amout of duels you will get invited to. Or turn them off all togeather.

I could just buy another account, get the character out of pre sear and continue to duel it for hours until i get bored.
Even the random ones, if you're a warrior and you're going to go up against another warrior, you just setup for anti warrior and just either kill him or wait out the match until the person leaves.
You will also see a lot of rangers setup for running away, and bug the hell out of everyone.

this is really what i wanted:
ok, thers a place you go to in the pvp isle. you can get 1-4 teamates, and the leader set stuff up. it could be tournement style, say A kills B, A faces C, C kills A, C kills D.
or this, A vs B, C and D can watch.
A B vs C D.
There would be no "Enter mission button, only if you have a team mate. No faction would be aquired from doing this, so botting it would be pointless. Basicly, this would be just fun, and telling your guild leader that you are a better warrior then him so you should play warrior in gvg (XD my guild leader thinks his the best warrior, and my guild leader is my older brother :-\) i think this would be really fun. But it wouldnt be just for warriors, any profession could play.

mayby to stop uber builds mayby a requirement/rules thing like create a chr , for exmp for a warrior, 3 attack skills,2 stances 1 healing(healing sig) and 2 other
ranger: 3 attacks,1 conditional skill (crippling shot?),1 prepration(RTW),1 spirit,1 trap,1 other(TROLL) just a thougt so some way is balanced ( wouldnt 1v1 kinda be fighting the doppleganger?) just a thougt
edit : for you runescape players, like the al kahrid dueling arena, you bet a price/item, and if you win you keep the item.

filtering is a good idea
if you challenged someone to a duel you should do so at your own risk if you just figured out an ele build that does alot of dmg 2 a warrior b4 you can even get close then more power too him im ean this could be a great way too settle disputes. Also money should not be nessecary to do you should be able 2 duel jsut for fun.
