Many folks have been getting an "Unknown Server Error(20)" over the fast few days as they try to start-up the game.
The problem seems to be back today for many folks, myself included. I found this fix to help me, whixh bypasses the updater altogether:
Make a new shortcut (on your desktop or somewhere) to the CoH client (cityofheroes.exe), not the updater like you normally use. Right click on the shortcut, go to properties/shortcut and change the value from something like
"C:\Program Files\City of Heroes\CityOfHeroes.exe"
to
"C:\Program Files\City of Heroes\CityOfHeroes.exe" -project "coh"
This starts up the client without the updater, so you shouldn't use it forever, as future patches will never get downloaded, etc., so I'm sure it will goof something up. This should be considered a temporary fix only.

Yeah I was wondering about that, it was pissing me off but after i clicked on City of Villains desktop icon about 10 times it eventually lets me on.

I also experienced that problem the last couple days. But usually it only happens once. I'll get it, close the window and then launch again and it's gone.
I'll take a look at the mainboard forums to see if others have repoted it.

Ok. I did some digging. They had a problem with a recent updater patch that caused this problem. They rolled back the updater and it should be cleared up now. They're going to update it again next week (well...this week now).
