| Me/Mo, Me/N or Me/E, I cant decide |
|
|

Hi everyone... I have a little dilema
I just deleted my first ever guild wars character, which was an E/N (sniff)... But now I have a new born Mesmer. I just cant decide which secondary profession Ill give her. I already have a N/Me and a Mo/Me as well as an W/R.
Im sure someone on this forum have some good recommandations in term of a secondary profession for the Mesmer for a great Guild Wars experience. I just need your opinion to help me make my choice.
Anyone?

I have recently brought up a Me/N. There are some extremely powerful combinations here. I chose to play a straight Dom. Mes. though. This way I could focus my att. points on enemy implosion. But the Me/N combination has some great possibilities.
I have deeply contemplated switching to Me/Mo in order to provide greater team assists pertaining to protection and healing issues. I haven't done it, but I imagine that many of the monk skills coupled w/ a mes.'s fast-casting and energy-gain skills could really be a great "boon" to a team.
Never played Me/E. Interesting idea, though.--I see energy challenges, but I think certain builds might counter those issues.

My most recent character was a Me/Mo and it worked well. I went all-but-entirely domination magic (interrupts mostly) for most of the game, but kept restore life or rebirth on hand just in case. In a couple of the early quests and missions, I also was able to switch to healing as my team needed it, which was a good point to the character as well.
More recently, I've begun switching to Me/N for spells like Plague Touch and various curses for use in pvp. I tried a Me/N earlier (as my 5th char) but didn't like the combination; I couldn't spare the attribute points I needed to keep both my Mesmer side and my Necro side at useful levels unless I wanted to run down my energy in seconds with no way to recover.
Me/E I've seen used a lot in both pvp and pve. The most effective build I've seen is a "machinegunner" which uses Mesmer fastcasting along with basic Elementalist spells (especially Stone Daggers) to toss off many low-power spells quickly. I've also seen fastcast nukers, which are more useful than normal nukers as their spell hits tend to be more precise (as in they hit groups better).
Me/W tend not to be too useful until Illusionary Weaponry is acquired later in the game, and Me/R is actually a bad combination; Mesmer and Ranger skill combos focus more on the ranger side, so R/Me is a better choice.

Ive played with my N/Me a lot lately and it a very good combo. However its true that it is difficult, but achievable to have a good balanced build without energy shortage.
Ive used a combinaison of curse, dom, ins and soul reaping to achieve this.
My build was the following :
arcane echo
SS
empathy
backfire
power spike
power drain
energy tap (cry of frustration, descecrate ench.)
rez sig.
with a good balance i attribute points, you can last pretty well on energy, but I dont remember what was setting right now. the only thing i remmeber was 8 in soul reaping and power drain would give me between 16and 21 in energy (for inspiration setting) the rest was split between curses ans dom, with more in curse for spitful... it was very efficient in the south shiverpeaks....
Edit : I used a +15 cane and a +25 focus.... which help to start with 3 SS at the beginning of combat...

I suggest start with a Me/N. Then as you work your way to the desert, you can have all of them at your fingertips.

Ive found that where the mesmer is unique is that he can interrupt, hench the purpose of fast casting... In most groups, the mesmer is almost expected to be an interrupter... To play this role you kind of sit in the back and wait for scanning casters (PVP or PVE). I started out as a Me/N to take advantage of the curses, but the more I found myself waiting for interrupts to recharge, the more my build put in more interrupt skills...
1) Arcane Conundrum: To slow down the casting
2) Chaos Storm: Does damage/Makes them run if your in a jam
3) Power Block: The elite of elites in my oppinion, cast on
one and lets you focus on another caster
4) Power Spike: Dmg Interrupt, good for finishing off monks
5) Cry of Frustration: Skill block/group interrupt, good
for when you know they're all using giant stomp
6) Power Drain: Interrupt to gain energy
7) Energy Tap: Drain enemy for a good amount of energy
8) Ether Feast: For health, if I know the monks good, Ill
substitute for ether lord or rez
Thats what I ended up with, not using my secondary at all, and Ive been very effective... But I recently switch to Me/Mo to try out the UW solo build... But as Ive said before, its all in how you like to play the game :)

i would say n/me, i've one my self and it's pretty unbeatable within a team.
becours you get energy when someone dies, you can kill a lot faster than when a mesmer is primary.
ofcours the mesmer primary has fast casting but that is useless when your energy is zero, so when you have a n/me you can have all your energy ready and still be able too attack.

A fast way to run out of energy and become a liability for your team waiting to recharge energy. But hey if u dont care about your teams success...lol I'm starting to sound to judgemental, no offense intended.

ive made a mes/n and a mes/mo and tbh i find it easyer going with the mes/mo allot of the things i thaught would be much better with fast casting require so much energy that its impractical to use them. i can see the same argument for necro ele but ele has energy signets so things like immolate would be nice. there are a good number to handy spells that necro works well with mes but i prefered mes monk.
