| Whats the Biggest Massacre You've Ever Seen? |

Whats the longest, most grueling pain of a fight you've ever been involved with in CoH? How many deaths, how much bitching, all the nitty-gritty details.

Anything with Tsoo in it. We were fighting a huge group of Tsoo who were two lvls higher than any of us with 3 sorcs who kept teleporting in, healing, and teleporting out. No one died, but the fight must have gone like half an hour with just about all of us hovering near death. It wasn't til I mananage to trap one of the sorcs with a hold and we organized a gang bang of him that the tide slowly started to turn. It wasn't much longer after that that we manage to catch the other two and slaughter them. Once they were out of the way, the rest fell like puppets with their strings cut. It was fun and intense but I hope to never have to do it again.

I must admit, though soloing the Tsoo are extremely easy to solo because of bad IA, whenever I've been in a group and fought Tsoo we always had an epic battle with a lot of fun and strategy. Good Call.

Yesterday I was hanging out near Positron as part of a Task Force Group that I should have known was doomed from the beginning. We were waiting to recruit additional members (tanks and healers...it's ALWAYS about waiting to recruit tanks and healers)and getting really bored.
Well..there was this one guy named...umm...Bob..yeah Bob...and well umm..Bob has never been on a Task Force mission before so he is kind of toughing it out and not leaving so he goes and checks on forums, emails, PM's etc. trying to occupy the time. When he is finished with that we are still waiting on the mythical men of legend..yeah...tanks and healers.
So Bob is really bored by now, but still determined not to quit. He begins to scan the horizon for mobs to kill while he waits, but there are none in sight. All of a sudden to Bob's great surprise and delight a single orange to him Oscillator comes bopping down the main street.
Now I know what you are thinking I ... err I mean Bob...should have known that MOB's like this don't travel alone, but boredom does strange things to a mans mind. You start to wander...to drift...to fantasize...you start to play that scene from Kill Bill in your head where O-Ren Ishii says "You didn't think it was gonna be that easy, did you? and like The Bride you reply "You know, for a second there, yeah, I kinda did."
So I..err..umm...Bob raises his Sniper Rifle scope to his eye and squeezes of a round that plants a slug neatly in the back of the Oscillators head.
Just then all hell breaks loose. Lightning and Tesla cages from all directions Health and Stamina dropping like the Gas Gage in a Humvee. Bob, being the highest member of the Task Force manages to hold out the longest with help from a friendly healer, but the entire part is wiped out in minutes.
Bob never saw the party that was following the orange oscillator until it was too late. The clever minions of the Clockwork kind had sent out this lowly peon as point man and the army that followed was made up of reds and purple with just an orange or two for color.
Obviously on their way as an ambush for another Hero that was I am sure much higher level and much better equipped to deal with them, it was a carnage for our party. Defeat was decisive and swift.
Everyone in the party was screaming about who pulled them and Bob was about to admit it, when one of them told the group quite forcefully to just chill the #)$# out that it was a random attack and these things happen so quite whining. At this point Bob didn't feel the need to correct this poor misguided sole...but learned an important lesson.
It is not that easy..it never is.

So a group of, um... we will call them friends, were putting together a TF. I was the second to last to join and the last guy got there maybe a minute after I did. Brid was a lvl 11 def, the last guy was also a lvl 11, but we were going to be ok, b/c we were being sidekicked *snorts*. There were 2 lvl 15's in the group (one was my mighty mentor) the other was a blaster (who think she is a tank [she is NOT a tank]), there was an array of other lvls between 12 and 14, couldn't tell you much more about the group other than there were three def and the most that you are allowed to have in a TF. It was the um... clockwork TF, but we got to the 1st indoor mission and it was those pesky dead, in a sewer. So after we all pile through the door, we spot the enemy, only a few dozen yards away. And every single one of them were red and purple to me (i guess lvl 16 is supposed to be a fun challenge or something). We take a vote and all agree that we could take it. So my mentor (the lvl 15 def) being the only one w/ a pull ability, fires the 1st shot. Ever notice how it is hard to pull the dead? Of course he fails, but pulls back to where the rest of us were standing, and a very short while later all hell breaks loose.... Brid is healing as quick as she can, but it seems NO ONE was in her aura range, and whenever she would chase someone down and get them out of the red, someone else would be near dead and of course all the way accross the room. Needless to say, we all regrouped after a very short visit to the hospital, back at the entrance to the mission. Yep, we decided we were going to give it another try (and i do have that 2 deaths b/f i bail from a team rule). We sat outside and tried to come up w/ a battle plan. The plan was this: take out the boss first. Yep, not one of us noticed the boss until we were all dead. So once again we all enter the sewer, and as soon as i steped in i was being attacked a noticing my fallen teammates that i was stepping on. I took this as my que to go back out on the street. Apparently 3 others felt this was also the appropriate action b/c they were there waiting on surrvivors to regroup so we could come up with another plan. The plan for the 2 def that lived to go back in and rez the others was scratched pretty much instantly (we were informed that the door was still covered in bad guys). The plan was this: We take out the boss first, then worry about the morts and reapers, then the abomniations. Yep, simple as can be. So one of the others stayed in the sewer to let us know when the coast was clear, and the others meet us back out front (after a short trip to the hospital). So we go back in, Brid rezes the one left there and we take a hold for end. As we are standing there i notice that infact there was not one boss, but two, and apparently half the group had been targeting one, and the other half the other. So the plan was changed. Take out the murk 1st then the lumnious, then the morts, the reapers, the abmn, and the partridge in a pear tree. So a few short deaths later, i notice my mentor is no where to be seen, i'm back to the innocent lvl 11 and my health is going quick, so i bail. I get outside and see what remains of my team (all 2 of them) hurting pretty bad. I hit my aura, then target the one standing closest to the door, well try to target, accidently hit the door, and as soon as the screen loads, laying face down in the sewer. I lay there a moment mentally scolding myself while watching the dead dance on my unconcious body, then make a quick stop at the hospital and regroup with the rest at the entrance (i didn't feel right to quit the team b/c the death was b/c of my own stupidity). When i get there i find out the good news... we had actually killed one of the bosses (woo hoo!). So we start planning again. The plan was this: Take out the boss, ect. I finally decided that i'm tired of trying to keep everyone healed while they get vomit all over them and tell them that there needs to be a new plan. The new plan: Take out the mort and reapers, and as many of the abmn as we can, then bail out. Yep, run away like little girls. Re-group, take a bit of a rest to get our health and breath back, then go back in and take out what ever we missed. At this point everyone was ready for a new plan just as everyone was gun-ho about kicking their butts for a bit o' revenge. So we go back in, take out two of the morts, one of the reapers, almost everyone was in the red (not dead yet), so i give the word to bail. We re group, some after a short trip to the hosp b/c their mentors bailed and they were foolish enough to stay behind. We gather ourselves back together and head back in. We get the other boss (yep everyone follows plans soo well), and most of the other abmn, and there are but a few reapers left and one mort, but we are beginning to really hurt, so i give the word to bail again. For the 1st time since we began the TF we all left alive. We take a rest and STOMP the few remaning baddies. All in all i would say that 1st battle took 1 1/2 hours, and i couldn't tell you how many deaths. We did go on to see what else was there (figuring the lvl of the baddies would decrease after the 1st group). We explore the sewers a bit and come to the entrance to a very large room, and welcomine us were 3 bosses, 6 reapers, 3 morts, and 4 abmn... all lvl 16. At this point i told them if they wanted to die some more than they would be doing it w/o me, and the rest felt the same way, so we all quit the TF and went and did one of the lvl 15's missions (if we could take on 16's we could do 15's was the logic).
This by the by was my first and only TF. I'm really glad i didn't bring in my big character (lvl 16 at the time) b/c she gets enough debt as it is. Some day i hope to find a team good enough to do a TF with, but until that day comes, i'm sticking w/ my contacts and random acts of goodness.

My reply isn't so much to the topic as it is to the previous poster. It is a shame that this incident turned you off of task force missions. Yes sometimes the odds seemed stacked against your team, and you find yourself visiting the hospital a lot. And yes sometimes you end up teamed with trigger happy idiots, who aggro the whole mass of mobs down on your heads all at once.
But I tell you, you spend the amount of time required to make it through a tf you will get to know a lot about the other player's ability to play the game, you will learn a lot about the different archtypes' capabilities and weakness. And, at least in my case, you generally make a lot of new friends. I guess due to the amount of time it takes to successfully complete a tf it gives the game a chance to builds camaraderie. I really think that when your time permits you ought to give tfs another shake.

Thanks for the concern, but i have done a few task forces since that last post, and i plan on writing an article on my findings on them. I just don't have the time right now to write a full article.

My longest, most grueling fight?
Hm... probably either the four man Kraken fight (no deaths btw) or the 6 man Mary Macomber from the Croatoa TF. Took loooooong... no deaths in either one though! :D

Well, I had gone back to check some of the dates of my first posts, and stumbled upon this one. I used to actually post like that a lot. I just do so much posting now adays, it is kinda hard to go into a story like that. Oh and I use paragraphs now *grin*
And incase anyone was wondering, or was bored, or anything, you can find ot the reason i was checking out old dates here. It is my very first GameAmp blog. And um.. I just finished writing it, and uh... you should read it!

the most painful team wipe that i've seen? hmm..
Well, there's always the good old Hami wipe. that's usually good for a few remarks..
ok. i got 2:
1) My first time through Positron. Of course i was a noob at the time, i think i was even stupid enough to take my first blaster through (Ar/Dev). The whole team must have been noobs, we got a full 8 man team. First mission we got was the Vahz in sewers one. Well, with a full 8, bosses were aplenty. We got there, and just charged in. No real plan, just went full out vs. the vahz.. Oh, what a slaughter. With the eidolens, the vahz Lts rezzing, and the embalmed nuking half the group each time, we must have died 6 times that first mission. Of course, half the team bailed.. something about "You !@%^@^!! @%@^% were you thinking?!" surprisingly, we somehow finished that mission. But of course, in Posi, the hits just keep rolling. Next mish was the CoT mish, rescue the FEMA fools. At the time, the hostage code hadn't been written for escorts, so all we needed to do was just free them, and they'd be done.. but no. we boldly charged in; and we went where all people have gone before: the hospital. again and again. At this point, i think everybody else bailed. It was just repeated deaths, what with those damned Death Mages with their earthquakes.
2) skipping ahead about 7-9 months, Faathim TF. 5 AVs in the sucker, so we were team-wiping left and right. Malaise? we're dead, then she dies. Mother Mayhem? ouch for invuls. 'Nemesis?' ? "DROP YOUR !#^$!#^ PERSONAL FORCE FIELD!!!" He must have brought that shield up 7 times. Baphomet? He was probably the easiest, but finding the glowies, WHEN THEY WERE INVISIBLE just wasn't nice. Then we come to Lanaru the Mad at the end. We were able to clear, but. This was before shivys, before WB nukes; and i don't think we had a rad on the team. It was just a solid wipe. Our plan was that we'd go in, and get into melee range. i'd taunt, and everybody else would kill. STUPID IDEA. This of course happened BEFORE the changes to his damage aura. At the time, it was a 100% chance of getting hit. auto-hit.. so the scrappers were useless. they'd deal about 4 hits before they died. So, we scrapped the whole thing. 10 hours long, and we couldn't kill the final AV. We scheduled for the following Saturday. 11 hrs later, here we were back at Lanaru's place. This time, we were rdy: WITH WITCH TEMP POWERS. you know the ones.. from the Croatoa TF. (Croatoa had just come out a month or so ago from this time). New plan: I taunt. we couldn't have him just stand there, so we decided to get the tank and Lanaru some exercise. I get taunt to auto, with 25 greens in my insp tray, then i just run around like hell. If it wasn't so depressing, it would have been funny. He's blasting me, i'm chewing skittles like ... well, like they're candy.. and the team's going after him. Even through this, i died twice, and we had 2 more team wipes.. but finally he went down.
and i'm sure that as time goes on.. (maybe when the States TF shows up in I9 or so) there will be more of these.
Death!! Mayhem!! Destruction!!

Wow, I consider reading that but then after I read the 1st word I stopped. I for one and very grlad that you have risen above the block writing and taken on a more eloquent form of communicating to us peonic ampers.
Of course there are still a quite a few on the site that still do that (staring at some more than others). But its not that bad.
To contribute to the worst massacre ever?....hmm....I remember one time doing AV Portal mission and it was against Knives of Artemis wanna-bes. Someone aggro'd the boss who about only a trillion of the KoAs around him. They all unleashed Caltrops, they stacked and we could move but it would be like the equivalent of trying to run thru quicksand and gum.
Then can a volley, a torrent, a massacre of arrows not only from AV but the KoAs. We were dead faster than you can say Grifter you are by far the greatest, most heroic hero to ever set foot in Paragon City and one of the most vile villains to promanade in the Rogue Isles. Yes that fast.

Well when I became the Community Manager I figured that it would be better if I posted a little more professionally. Every now and then I slip up, but not often.
Also, I love hearing you guys' stories about the massacare. When I came across this topic, I was wondering what kind of tales people would have now.
And please note, this is not my first forum post here. That was actually a day earlier, and about dying and debt (what a suprise *grin*).

Biggest massacre I've ever seen?? Easy. And I'll make it quick.
A group of 50s had a mission in Steel Canyon. Fine, great. At the same time about 2 or 3 groups of heroes were at Positron arranging and starting their TFs.
The level 50 group finished their mish, exited, then **BAM**...... HERE COMES THE AMBUSH!!!!
Those poor lvl 10s to 20s.......
It was one of the most bloodiest slaughters I've ever seen! It was a close second to the likes of a failed Hami raid. LOL
I'm sure some kind of petition was sent right after that!

I had to refer back to Sunshine- for this one. I'm old and my memory isn't what it used to be.
We were in one of those tried and true Striga ship missions, I think it was one with council and family both. Anyway, Sunshine- was playing healer and I was in my 20s on my Peacebringer. We had a few blasters with us, enough to give full size mobs. This must have been before I5. We got in the big room at the end and somehow or another we got the entire room aggroed. I was playing tank in dwarf form, the only thing we had for a tank, and all of a sudden I was in a pile of upwards of 4 or 5 dozen baddies, all by myself, and not even a real tank. Sunshine- was spam healing me like crazy. All the blasters were waaaaay behind me, all back o' da bus like, and they were pounding away. I was stomping and swinging away, Sunshine- was throwing heals left and right and I couldn't even see the bad guys through the attacks, in and out, were so thick.
We managed to kill them all and I don't think anyone died, but it was the biggest pile up I think I've ever been in. I couldn't even see my Kheldian hands swinging because of all the baddies and attacks flying. But it sure was a lot of fun. ;-)

Heard about a Blaster on Union (EU) who exploited a bug with the Confuse powers whilst in RV and, with the help of some other people buffing him, ran into a large group of people under Atlas, Hit BU, popped some insps and fired off Nova sending people of all levels flying.... most of them DID NOT see the funny side of it.
Thus resulting in a rather large amount of bitching. I think the people who were involved in the Nuking recieved 72 hour bans.
