Last contest we had NexT as the winner, and Lady_Yunie19 and Fenninculus as our runner ups.
This time, the theme is different. you need to use a specific area and take a screenshot of it. use that screen on the sig along with your character. These elements MUST appear. your IGN must be in the signature too.
> Sig must be 500x150 maximum size.
> Sig musn't exceed 40 kb in size.
> Entries must be PM'ed to me with the title "GGS Contest Entry"
> Entries will be accepted until April 10 2006, at 00:00 GMT.
Prizes to be discussed, although i can already say that all the places will get green items, ranging from SF to UW items.
I believe it's for everyone except members of the graphics team. Easiest way to check it's size is by right clicking the file and looking in properties. Best way to do the canvas area is to start your canvas in that pixel size in an image editor. However you can see its dimensions in the summary tab of properties.
Here is an example: It's 2Kb
Isn't 40Kb an unrealistic goal? I mean a .png alone is over 40kb because of the quality of the graphic itself...
Yep. 100 KB for a PNG of the same dimensions is about the smallest you can get. PNG is a better quality format, but it IS a bit larger than a JPG with high compression rate.
here's a litle help for you guys having problems with the image size:
save the image in highest quality in whatever editor you're using. open paint, open you sig in paint, and just click on the "Save" button on the window.
alrighty then i got mine goin in, too bad all i ahd t work with was paint lol, but isnt the point that its a nice scenery? not the quality of the..words lol

then it should be around 40kb or less.
Lol!
Not for PNG :-)
This idea of using an MS product to make something smaller in size sounded so odd I had to try it. My example PNG file went from 109KB to 131KB. Paint when confronted with scary things like advanced graphics formats like PNG basically saves it at zero compression...
So seriously, either you must let go of this 40K file-size limit, or exclude PNG.
ah, about that. GGS members CAN enter but cannot be elegible for the prizes. this meaning they can show some competition but cannot be voted as their entries are just some examples.
how many entries can u send in? :P cos i cant choose btween 2 of my signatures
2pwn or not 2pwn, that's the question...

yup. and totally messed up. Ever payed close notice to the jpeg trails that Paint gets on them when you save it using that programm?
Ah well. I could get mine at the requested size, but its hardly impossible to have a decent quality remaining. So I'll just pass :)
Character list:
Ryolan Levi, Mo/N20 - Tunderhead Keep
Levi Treehugger, R/Mo20 - Abaddons Mouth
Levi Swordsinger, W/*2 - Pre-Searing
guys who complain about file size (if you are using photoshop) simply use the save for web command and choose jpeg (high) hardly noticable quality loss.
