Factions Predictions- Buy now Sell Later $$££ Make Money ££$$
OK so we all know that when factions comes out the enconomy is going to go mad, but how mad and how crazy will the prices of some objects go?
Ok so we know that prices of things rises and falls so if you pick the right item and buy lots, then you can sell it later and get a big profit. So this means that when factions comes out prices of some things will either rise a lot or become worthless.
Just to show this: Obsidion Shards used to cost 4k to buy/sell to players, just a week or 2 ago, but now they cost 4.4k to buy/sell to players. So if I had bought 10 shards 2 weeks ago I just made 40,000 gold! Ok maybe this is a bad example as it's hard to find people to buy/sell from, but the merchant's gap in buy/sell price is too big to use him.
Another example: Ectos cost 7k? now, but in factions if they dropped everywhere, soon they would be worth 250 gold. I hope you get wht I'm saying.
Ok so what's the point? Well as Sapphires and Rubies are said to have a use in Factions, surely their price will skyrocket. So maybe we should go out and invest in them; however maybe they will drop more then and the price doesn't change. It's a risk, but you can make lots of money on it.
Does anyone else think anything else would be worth investing in?

I too believe something like that will happen. But I don't think it would last long. All the prices will equal out soon after the release. Or so I hope.. xD

The only things that have any chance of rising are crafting materials and mods no one is going to buy original items at crazy prices when they can get shiney new stuff for crazy prices.

The thing you have to take into consideration is that Factions CAN be a stand alone product, meaning you don't have to have Prophecies to enjoy Factions.
What that means is that if items such as rubies and saphires do have a use in Factions, they will make at least one area in factions that they would drop as well since it would be unfair to players who only have the one game not being able to purchase certain items because they only drop in places in the other game (prophecies), especially if said items only have a use in the very game they don't exist in...that would make no sense. This could potentially make them less rare.
I would think that universal things such as a vigor rune would be the things you'd need to look at potentially going up in price. Think about how many new players will be trying to make new uber characters and wanting the best stuff for their characters.
I know one of my friends has started saving ectos and shards to potentially buy fow armor for the assassin he wants to make...but I have to ask...will there even be a fow armor for assassins and ritualists? I bet it will be some new armor forge for the factions elite armor sets. May even be a new crafting material. Who knows, they may want all players to be at even playing field when factions comes out...that means they won't be able to use similar crafting mats, etc for factions. But then I could be totally wrong :)

It's really just a gamble. For example we all know that rubies and saphires are going to be used in factions as gaile herself said but what we dont know is just what the uses will be. for example they could be used like ectos and shards for FoW armor but they could also be used as common crafting materials that are rare like vellum and parchment. For all we know the prices will drop down like crazy and if you stock up on them now you could end up losing alot of money. It can go either way really. Personally i wouldn't gamble like that because it's a 50/50 chance. Either it's used like ectos and shards or it's used like vellum.

Sorry but...10 x 0.4k = 4k and not 40k.

I got rid of all my ecto. I did hang on to the shards cuz they added shards to monk and necro tattoo's/scars, so gonna get a higher peak now, cuz of more demand.
Furthermore i bought stacks of ruby's, sapphire's and all monstrous crap. Dunno what they gonna be used for, but we'll see in a week i guess. If they're gonna have a valuable use they probably end up higher than the ecto peak (around 18k) because they drop even less frequent than ecto. Sure there can be an area in Factions where they drop, but it probably wont more frequent. I bought my gems months ago around 2,8k each btw.
And to get back to the shards. I you'd buy 100 shards @ 4,000 gold each you would have invested 400k for a slow 10% profit. IMO, thats not worth the investment risk.
