hey I have a question

hey I have a question. If I were to deactivate my account, would I still have my characters when it is reactivated?

Yes... and no. Your characters will be there, but their names may not. There is a 90 day policy on all character names below level 30 (or was it 35?). So if you are gone for more than 90 days, and somebody wants to make a toon with the same name as your level 20 toon, you will lose it. Otherwise, you will be fine.

IF your name was taken, you'd get an option to rename your toon to something else. everything else will stay intact.

They can take our names now?

The last thing I heard was that they delete lvl 1 toons after 90 days and nothing else.

I have never heard of them Deleting Toons that is too, volutile. Would make them lose customers quick. The only things I have heard devs of doing to characters is changing copywritten names.

Furthermore the Name changing thing is in action.

The name thing happened right before i5 if my memory serves me right and helps some so when you get those that quit the game but did not delete the names of toons that were being used for place holders, it now frees up those names so now my creative abilities are not being used up as badly. As for the deleting lvl 1 toons I have not heard anything about this but it does not sound like it is acctually in effect but then again like I said I don't really know on this point.

they do delete toons, although im not sure of the specifics,

when i left the american servers, which i guess is you guys i cancelled my account to play on uk servers. when they got the character transfer up i had only 1 toon left to transfer. all the others were low though.

Is it possible to change your character name after you've created it, but remained active with it? Or if your character got changed to a Generic######? :D Makes me wonder every time I see a Generic Hero running around.

In normal circumstances, you cannot change your character's name without re-rolling the toon.

Normally if you have your character's name changed because it was offensive/dissalowed by the Cryptic staff, you cannot log the toon in until you change it. (I had a friend experience this problem...... They didn't like his Trollers name "Mourning Wood"). Then they e-mail you at the e-mail account that you set up for your account, tell you to pick your 3 next favorite possible names, and they assign one of them to the toon(if available, and not just another offending/dissalowed name). Then it is able to be logged in.

Now I've heard of people getting mad and telling them to just use Generic Hero ###. Normaly when you have the toon name changed its "Generichero##"(no spaces). I don't think that Generic Hero would be a dissalowed name, but can't see why you would see hardly any of these. Is it possible that they are all in the same SG? I'm not sure how close you looked. It could be some sort of concept SG.

I've also used a specific pattern when creating a set of test toons. I have so many Villain Dinosaurs on Triumph and most of them have similar names and body designs. It's possible that the abundance of Generic Hero you are seeing is someones test toons on some server that is not their main.

It's also possible that since the change to reclaim names, they do not prevent the logging in of the toons that have lost them.

Just a few possibilities from the grassy knoll.........
