Hi ya'll! I've been gaining some slight intrest in this game since I saw some pics of masterminds. :P
so here's some few questions if someone's up for answering:D
1. Does CoV have some sorts of clans/guilds etc and if they do, do they have capes or such? :D
2. How much does CoV cost per month? if you could post the price in Euros, I would appreciate it :)
3. Is this mastermind hard to play for a newbie? it's the only class that I'm interested in :P
-ty beforehand, will post more questions when I have some :)
EDIT: How newbie friendly is this game? :D
another EDIT: Is the game as co-operative based as GW for exemple or can the game be played solo?

A big unwelcome to the site Xaviak.
1. You can join a VG/SG (villian group/supergroup). Capes are based on a level requirement. Once you reach level 20 and complete the cape mission. You can select a cape for your character.
2. $15/month (sorry, not good with EU conversion)
3. Masterminds are not that difficult to play. They are really very fun. Once you get through the low levels, 1-15ish, you should have a good grasp of how to control your henchmen based on your playstyle.
The game is really newbie friendly. This site provides just about any and all answers that you could ever think of asking.

Just to add a little bit onto that, if you purchase City of Villains AND City of Heroes, there's no increase in your per-month payment. Since they use the same servers, you pay $15 a month for access to those servers, so if you own both games, you can play villains OR those do-gooder-heroes if you want. (Although why someone would want to be a hero, I have NO idea...)

heh, thanks :) I'm thinking of starting to play but it kinda depends on how my mom wants to loan her credit card. but hey, doesn't every Evil Mastermind have the same problem? XD
EDIT: I'm not really interested in the Heroes version since IMO they don't look that cool :P

Heya, if your going to go forward and play on the EU servers then go for the 'Defiant' server. i play on Defiant and i'll be happy to answer any questions you may have. could also get you into a nice friendly VG full of experienced players that will also help you out if need be.

I forgot to ask: does the game contain a lot of grinding for exp / money?
and also: are the game area's like in Guild Wars that there are some outposts/towns and the "battle areas" are created for the designated party only? and is there only one city in it? like in D&D online that there's only one town where you can hook up with other players?
-sry if my questions are confusing :D

No problem...that's what we do is answer questions...among other things...lol.
you can grind (or hunt) for influence (game economic system) or you can do contact missions, Strike Forces or newspaper missions for influence.
In this game, every area is like a battlefield. There are six zones (look to the left margin for zone information) that are level oriented (this will change with the next patch I7). Villians/mobs are all over each zone for your enjoyment. You can fight them or go around them (and hopefully not get attacked).
Now, there are 3 PvP zones that will allow you to interact with and fight against Heroes. You can also fight against Villians in these zones as well (please someone correct me if i'm wrong about the PvP zones).
You can team up with fellow villians in the normal zones to form teams to accomplish missions, hunting parties and Strike Forces. You can also team up with villians (and highly recommended) to go to the PvP zones to take down heroes.

As my esteemed SG bud Dark Side said, if you are on the european server defiant, give us a shout out - plus Im a staffer here and on CoH so double points there.
Influence is awarded for defeating 'the bad guys', along with experience. It is used for the purchase of inspirations and enhancements for your character during advancement in levels.
Inspirations (guessing you'll ask) are one shot temp boosts, health restores, endurance restores, defense bonus, damage bonus, accuracy bonus - that last a few seconds (obviously health restores are the end restore are like used and it goes up).
Enhancements, depending on level and origin aid you in 'upping' the level of your powers - making defenses stronger, making attacks more accurate/do more damage/cost less endurance to use etc etc. These go up in value and of course, cost more the higher level the enhancement is you buy.
You can trade influence between players, to help with buying stuff or if you are like me you can go blow a cool million in the facemaker on a new costume....
I'll leave it at that and say that the heroes will soon have the same options as the villains costume wise and its fun to have both games!

In the PvP zones the only one you can have Heroes vs Heroes and Villians vs Villains is Warburg (at the moment anyway). Siren's Call and Bloody Bay are both Heroes vs Villains.
