I created a new fire/fire dominator. She is great fun. I think she is the blapper of COV. But what made her even more effective was an accidental power. I decided to pick the flight pool for a change, and since hover is utterly usless to a fire dom, I went with Air Superiority. I had no idea what it did exactly. But now I do, and I love it! It is a perfect power. The enemy is out of action for several seconds, it looks really cool, it has a very fast recharge, and reasonable damage. It is the perfect companion for any melee toon that wants more melee moves. How come I never tried it before, or heard anybody else praise it before?

probably because no one has ever taken it, or taken it seriously.
I know I have not used it nor wanted to use it, simply because my thought was that it only worked against opponents that were in the air. I didn't/don't see a lot of opponents that fly to warrent me getting that power.
Now, I'm beginning to think I've been misled.

Air Superiority is an awsome power.. its an offensive and defensive all in one.. it does damage and knocks them down (not back straight down).. they do a back flip in the air giving you 2-3 free attacks offensive n defensive..
I would say it is Medium Damage Medium-fast Recharge..
I have it on my Stalker and it does the same damage as my Sting of the Wasp power.. and yes it is 5 slotted 2Acc3Dam
It works on all mobs flying or nonflying.. the -fly effect lasts for a good 15seconds. good for pvp..

This power ROCKS and can be used to help eliminate Bosses. I have it with my Level 40 Toxic Summoner MasterMind. I solo'ed this guy alot but always had trouble taking out the end bosses until I realized that if I sick my Zombies on the boss then just keep flipping him over and over again with Air Superiority - WHAMMO dead Boss.
Just like in Mortal Kombat how if you quickly repeat an attack like Raiden's Body Spear - you render your opponent useless and dead.

Just to bump what's been said about Air Superiority already, I added it to one of my Brutes and it's OUTSTANDING! It's a great medium damage, low endurance cost, good recharge rate power. Thankfully it hasn't gotten a lot of talk/play because of the bad wording in the power description. If too many people took it, the devs would probably nerf it down. Right now it's one of the best attack powers in the "opening levels" of the pool sets. Not to mention, it opens up one of the most useful travel powers in CoV, Flight.

So then what would be the real difference between Air Superiority and Force Bolt? Endurance cost? Recharge Time? Help a player out.

force bolt knocks a target back.. air supirority knocks them down..
that and force bolt does minor damage and air sup does medium.
for a melee character knock-down is a little better since you dont have to chase your opponent.. you just do a double over hand motion and the guy flips head over heals straight up and down..
also Air Sup puts a -fly debuff that lasts for about 15secs or so..
argh all these edits.. hehe..
Knockback - mob gets knocked back.
Knockup - mob gets knocked into the air pretty high then they go straight down.
Knockdown - mob gets nocked slightly in the air then straight down.
please note that the -fly debuff is only on a couple moves. so if you knockback up or down someone who is flying you wont bring him to the ground unless your power has -fly..
well hopefully that makes sense cause im all confused 8P

In my opinion i think that this power is more for melee AT. I had it on my defender and i hardly used but it was extrmemly helpful in the croatoa tf when mary decides 2 fly i away and the tank cant get 2 her so i just knock her down. It is a great attack power and somewhat a debuff. Good on theose tsoo spirits, sky raiders, any flying tpe enemy.
I would definitley recommend it over jump kick that i regretfully took and havent respeced out yet.

yeah, i'm racing to 24 with my brute and contemplating it for my ascending dom (plant fire) because it really is another control factor. check brute posts, and you'll hear loads of raving about this power.

Sound's like i neeed to get a respec so i can try out this Air Superiority, i need a respec anyways i am not to thrill about SS. Don't get me wrong SS is alright but when it comes to jumping a high wall it is pointless. Always have to go the long way around, So i will try out this Air Superiority thank's everyone =)

Air Superiority is a great attack that helps open up the flight pool. It's a melee attack, so it's more useful for melee ATs, but it's FAR FAR better than Hover.

I think everyone wants to take hover for a chance to fly early on. But I have starting getting Air Superiority instead because I rarely used hover. It is just so slow that I only used it every once in a while, where Air Superiority I can use during each attack sequence.
Once people realize how little they use hover (especially after you get flight) they start to see how benificial Air Superiority is.

This is the thought that first crossed my mind when I read this post. I was sitting back thinking of all the toons I have with hover, however, I rarely use hover. I've used hover more on my tank in CoH than I have on any other toon combined! I was seriously misled on Air Superiority. I definitely could have used the extra attack in the lower levels.

Especially for Brutes, that extra attack is outstanding. Helps get that Fury bar up.

i used the hover for my defender when solo sniping for getting just outta foes range and peppering them from the sky, but i way need to rethink it for future toons
