I am starting to get the shakes...

I don't know if I can do this...

I thought that it wouldn't be too bad...

I didn't play every day anyway, it should be no problem going a couple of months without it...

I am starting to hear the glowie sound in real life now. Someone was talking about how good carrots were. I immediately turned and said "Thanks, I'm just supporting the team". Their look told me I have a problem.

Hello... My name is Swiss and I'm addicted.

The problem is coming to this site is like smelling a newly baked pie, only to have the window slammed on my knuckles. It is just feeding the craving even more. Yet, I can't stay away.

Thanks for letting me talk it through with people that I know will understand. Maybe, someone could get some video of their play and post it?

I think the 14 day trial is just like the drug dealer saying "Hey, come on, first time's free." It only takes one time... 8 months later I find I am trying to find that dealer again. Maybe they'll offer another few months free... Maybe it can hold me over till the birthday money... Maybe they need a new QA person on staff...

i think what you need is a hero planner. get one, its kinda like the gum for ciggs. when my vid card broke, i just played with the planner, and it was enough to get me by, but i was still hurting.

im doing my best to sobger up, i really am... its been like 48 hours since i logged on last. I understand it when u want to just check ur email to see if ncsoft sent u anything (notice ya didnt log on last night, chekcin to maek sure ur not seriously injured)...

But the addiction can be terrifying. they have our money!!
But its better to just cold-turkey it, then sleep it off for 24 months.

I must say I would have to agree with Jorden_Yen with the idea of being able to create the characters while off-line. That way I could at least enjoy creating the different looks. Although, that might make it even worse since I still couldn't play the characters and test the concepts. But at least it would be something.

I do miss the chance to team up with all of you. That is truly what I enjoyed the most. I really enjoyed being able to help out the team and look forward to getting back in again.

This is one thing that I don't mind being addicted to. Except for the fact that I can't feed that addiction right now.

I feel your pain too Swiss.

I am currently enrolled in grad school online so I'm constantly on my computer. I tend to sit down to read articles, posts and lecture notes, but quite frequently end up clicking on my CoH icon and going at it for hours. My homework usually gets completed the day its due.

I also just had to buy a car because mine crapped out going to work the other day so I think my account might get pulled too. I already have downloaded the planner for the slow times at work when i get the itch!

I am beginning to see things clearer now.

With a job and family, every day is a routine. Now this is a good routine, and I love the life that I have. But right now it seems that each day moves along similar to the last.

What I think I enjoyed about CoH was that it threw a curve into the normal day. I normally would play either really early before work (like 5am - 6:30am) or after everyone was in bed (11pm - 2am). So my routine and day didn't change, other then the lack of sleep, but it brought in a change that I could look forward to. It was not something I played every day. It was when I found some extra time. I might go 3 or 4 days before I had a chance to play, or I might play in the morning and that same night.

Each time I played it was something new. New teams, new missions, new villains, or even just a new hero I created. CoH became part of the spice that made the days a little different.

My wife and I still play games and talk in the evenings as much as we have, I still spend just as much time with my kids, but that extra little spice is not there now. I don't think CoH interrupted my life much (my wife may have a different thought), because I didn't play it during peak family hours.

What I am finding is that I don't have that extra spice to look forward to.

So I guess here is the bottom line: I love where I am in life; I just enjoyed that extra zing of flavor that CoH provided.

I am looking forward to when I can return.

Swiss, part of what keeps the game fresh and fun is being away for a while. If you really want to make the most of it, try to schedule your return for a week or several weeks where you know your work and family demands will be light.

Find something for your wife and kids to do that doesn't involve you so you can play uninterrupted most of the time (but make sure to surface and pay attention to them too now and then).

I hooked my wife up for movies-by-mail (netflix or similar) so she could catch up on all the movies I never wanted to watch anyway and the kids could get their Spongebob or whatever.

I also had a week that month where the whole family was in Texas for a wedding so I had a week of work only, no family. Another like that is coming up in July (which is when I'm going to make my push to 50) Yeeha!

as ive mentioned somewhere before on this site i once took my then girlfriend to Paris for a romantic few days away, after 2 days i was on the hotel internet connection just so i could use MSN to see if i had 'missed anything' with one of my CoH/V buddies (firespray, surprise surprise ;P ) and ended up talking till 4am.

I WAS IN PARIS WITH MY GIRLFRIEND!!!!! I NEED TO GET A GRIP!!!! (no offence Fire, we did have a good natter that night)

lol @ DarkSide. You're right. Separating real life and the game is a skill at times. You could always try deactivating your account every now and then just to force the separation :)

So, I subscribe to www.MMORPG.com and I get an e-mail whenever a new article is posted to their site. Well what should be in there when I check my e-mail yesterday?

A free 14 day trial for City of Villains. Exclusive to members of the website. Well, let me tell you, I immediately wondered if I could reactivate my account with this trial (14 days is better then nothing).

Unfortunately, it would not let me reactivate my account because I already had a CoV trial registered. I tried many different options, but they were all denied.

Then I thought... "Hmmm, I wonder if I can just add that as another game?" I now have 14 days to play just City of Villains with a different login then my other game, I can't access my old characters during this time, nor can I access City of Heroes. But 14 days of City of Anything is better then nothing.

So... Swiss Chaos was born last night. I posted a picture of him in the screenshots. He is a Corruptor. I must say I do like the blaster/Defender mix. Except I can't get the hero out of me. I was still running around and healing people.

Just thought I would give an update. He is on the Triumph server. I will create a Brute soon as well. I think Das Carrot may have had an assistant who was jealous that he gained all those powers.

Here is the Link to MMORPG news if anyone wants to try the trial as well. You have to register with the site to receive the code. The news article is about half way down the page.

I agree. As I stated earlier, This just adds some extra spice to my day. I usually play after the kids are in bed and the wife has fallen asleep on the couch. It doesn't rule my life (which is why I don't have many high level toons). I am a casual player. But, it does bring some extra enjoyment and something to look forward to a few times a week.

I will say that I do miss playing it when I haven't had the chance to play for awhile.
